  1. Dot what great advice!

Socket, if you're already checking out the AKC than your more ahead of the game than I was. I didn't check them out til after I got Nico. Fortuately, my breeder and dog passed all the standards set.

Here is a link for a test.

Remember this is more for fun, really not gospel.

You know, when you mentioned bringing your daughter to a shelter, it reminds me of something that happened with the ministers wife of the local offshoot I used to attend.

She has an adorable little golden, that she was going to breed. I asked her why, and she said she wanted her kids to see nature, and birth first hand.

I told her, nicely, that reason was considered the worst reason to breed a dog. I said if she wanted to give her kids a lesson in sex and birth, to go down to the local animal shelter and see all the abandoned dogs that are there because of irresponsible breeding.

Well, she didn't breed her dog, thank God. But I mean it really made me start to wonder about this woman who was considered to be a "top women's leader.

I don't mean to be mean, but her being a leader and all I mean.. geez, whadda ditz.

  2. Hi Socket! How exciting! You know there are plenty of online tests you can take so you can choose the right dog that fits you.

Wherever you buy it, is your choice. However I would feel not right if I didn't warn you that it is strongly advised NOT to buy a dog from a pet store. Pet Stores get there dogs from cheap breeders who run puppy mills. I don't care what the pet store tells you where they get the dog from..NO REPUTABLE BREEDER WILL HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH A PET STORE.

I will try to find one of those online tests to take to find out what kind of dog fits your family.

Sorry if I came off as obnoxious about pet stores. I do know people who have gotten wonderful dogs from pet stores. I think the idea is to put those places out of business altogether.

  3. You got me Dot. I never was one for rock operas. I remember seeing Rocky Horror waaaaaay back when it was playing at the Biograph in Chicago. I remember being amazed at the time by the audiance. But I thought the movie sucked. Although I did like the timewarp. I saw the movie years later and I still thought it sucked. (although I really like tim curry)

I'f there is any kind of symbolizm in these operas, than I guess that I'm either not artsy enough to get it, or I still have some brain cells intact.

  4. Well of course we learn from experience. Even if we have a natural talent for something it's experience that makes it flourish.

This stuff about "we can only go as far as we are taught" doesn't really ring true. If that were true we'd all be living back in the stone age. God gave us noggins to figure stuff out with after all.

Ahh..YES THEY DID. Everybodys situation is different. When your 17 years old,and hungering for answers and truth, and these people come around with some very sound knowledge and bibical truths, plus love and freindship which I sorely needed, you (I) wanted what they had to offer.

It's not physical restraint, no. That is what they always pulled out of there hat whenever they were accused of being a cult. BUT...

It IS called psychological manipulation. Extreme too.

These people had answers that were like gems to me.

There is no way I would have been welcome back at the fellowship, which I sorely needed, had I not taken that stupid class. And btw, it didn't end with foundational class. That was just the beginning of the whole program they wanted to put people through.

And if people out there honestly cannot see that there are psychological tactics that are used to manipulate people well... icon_rolleyes.gif:rolleyes:--> Okay, it's not ME whose the naive one here.

And excuse me.. the material on being saved on grace was worth the price? I didn't know God charged to hear about that.

And excuse me again but that Whole ministry was based on getting people to take that damn class! It wasn't about God's word. It was PFAL. That was what they were about.

and what arrogance to say that people are either mentally retarted or stupid for taking that class when they didn't want it. Yeah that's me. I was just plain stupid I guess. Well than they sure didn't hesitate to take advantage of my stupidity.

But again, I'm digressing from the purpose of this thread.

    Sorry.

  6. Oldie's I disagree heartedly. There is a difference between taking a course or a class that you want and sharing the Word of God.

These people forced this PFAL class down people's throats and profited off of it. The excuse was then, as it is now, that PFAL was free and nobody was doing anything with it.(what the hell were they supposed to DO with it?) So they started charging money so people would appreciate it.

That line of thinking not only has a big enough hole to drive a van through it but it is arrogant as hell.

I was doing fine going to fellowhip..for free. I was totally taken advantage of by being pressured into taking a class I didn't want or need, with money that I had worked and saved for a long time.

SHARING the Word, should ALWAYS be free. If people want a class, want to purchase tapes or go to bible college, that's different. Believe me I could have lived without the fruits of their labor and the great research being shoved down my throat, for a price.

Would Jesus have approved of this? NO! Did God approve of this? I think it made Him madder than hell.

This was morally and ethically WRONG. And UnGodly and unbibical and I still run into people who defend what they did.

To me, either they are in total denial, or they have a very skewered perspective on things to where it's perverted there logic.

Or they just plain lack any integrity and morals.

Sorry for getting OT. But this still bugs me when I hear people make excuses for what they did 20 years later.

PS. Let me just add. That if these guys want to be paid for the fruits of there labor, maybe they should consider getting a real job. Like a REAL man. And take care of own families instead of expecting handouts from people by making a living off a dead man's doctrine.

Jesus had a job. All the apostles did.

    grrrr Lazy preacher boy sods.

Sorry, sorry, I'm really sorry for getting OT. But this makes me madder than hell.

  7. Steve: That's funny about the CEO. It figures. I always thought Wags was a make over of Walgreens restaurant. I remember they had a diner and coffee shop at Yorktown, and they remodeled the diner and made it into Wags.

Ron: deep fried pickles, I've heard that before somewhere. I think on one of the City confidential shows. And the jalepino (sp.) cheese stuff is a huge fave of mine as well, over here they are called Poppers. Funny poster btw. icon_wink.gif;)-->

  8. Deep fried steaks! I?m gonna have to try that sometime. And the ice cream I?ve heard about. I looked it up and you can make it either dipped in cornflakes or white bread wrapped around a scoop. God this is making me hungry.

I had lobster rolls in Kennebunkport and I'm sure they were fried. Man, a double lobster dinner straight from the ocean with all the trimmings for less than 15 bucks. icon_razz.gif:P-->

btw, I thought Wags was gone longer than that, and I thought Shoneys was still around.

Sambos! I remember I went there to wash windows (yeah I did that too briefly) early in the morning and the whole place was shutting down because of bankruptcy. The employees were walking around in a daze. The cops were there because the manager was caught trying to steal some stuff and some Corporate guys were being such jerks to me like I was in on it.

  9. I think corn dogs are fried yes, but I remember as a little girl just the smell of those things made me gag.

I didn't try the deep fried twinkies, but I read that the guy who came up with the idea tried everything. fried Mars bars (which he said was a Scottish delicacy)fried M&M's (fell through the cage holes)and fried Pepermint patties (a disaster)

I found an online recipe for twinkies, and it includes a milk and flour based batter.

I don't have a deep fryer though, just a pan. I tried making poppers once at home, and it was a mess. You really need a deep fryer for a batter type coating.

But yeah, I LOVE fried foods. Sometimes I'll fry me up a mess of bacon then fry my eggs right in the bacon grease. yum yum.

Another delicacy is frying up mashed boiled potato's with green peppers and onions in oil and butter and adding bacon grease. mmmmm.

  10. While surfing the net, I came across something called deep fried hot dogs. The article said they are called rippers in New Jersey. Sometimes they are rolled in bacon? Anybody know how to make these? I don't want Corn-dogs, yuck. I don't like corn meal. But I'm wondering if you are supposed to use flour and eggs for a coating, like with chicken or something.

    Anybody anybody?

  11. Two things that bugged me.

1.The more "THAN" abundant life. John 10:10 says more abundantly, which I feel is different then more THAN abundant. He was such a stickler for getting everthing exact so why wasn't this said exact.

2.God will never test you. They always brought out that scripture about God not tempting you. Well test is different than tempt. In my view.
