  1. Down here in Florida...size IS the all important issue...seriously..most of the women who encounter "Mr Big" prefer theirs at a 5 degree angle...and the taller the better...it cannot have any flaws in it and MUST be totally rigid, otherwise the effect would produce alot of complaints..

Interestingly enough, the common practice is to paint "it" either...bright orange (so one can see it with the lights on) or white, since most of our action is (in our case) set up with a blue backdrop.

The common diameter is from 7/8" to l" and believe it or not, an overly hardened stake CAN cause much damage to a good set of horseshoes..

So this should set the record straight..

Oh and speaking of "pet names"...a good pal of mine had a wifie who named his "King Richard" (ya know .."dick"..& not the investigative type either)...LOL..such goings on at this cafe!!!!!!!!!JJ

  2. Wow...Shellon..in da head eh??..I once saw a 6'8" guy take it flat in the chest but never in the head...wowowow..

Sky..yep I throw what's called a 3/4 turn shoe...I started out flippin' for a few years & just watching the good throwers realized that turning the shoe was the way to go...also had SOOOOOOOOOO many good ringers come off flippin' them!! I want to learn a turn and l/4 shoe down the road, as its a very good shoe & there's alot of hot shots that preach it...upside is, it won't hurt you doctrinally!!! LOL..JJ

  3. Shellon...it couldn't have been THAT bigga knot..after all they are only 2 & l/2 oz in weight...it does smart for sure...especially if you get hit in the ankle or shin...I was in a tournament once & 5 minutes into it my partner got me in the shin...threw terribly after that & paid big bucks to play!! hahaha

I think the thing I love about shoes is the quiet time of practicing by myself, and how a person can just shut out everything else going on in one's world...as a good h-shoer needs to concentrate on his/her game.. I also love the many many new & good friends I have made in traveling around..its a commonality of sorts & most of these people are either farm people or older people who played it forever...but its definitely NOt an "old mans game" by any means..as I've played ll year old champions & gotten a good whippin' JJ

  4. Yep..skyrider, the game is a hoot...as I never partiscipated much until my mid 30's..and finally I ran into enough players where I discovered that many leagues have gone with a handicap system, so that when you're playing a much better player than yourself..that its actually fairer...since he spends alot of the game trying to catch you (similar to the bowling HCP they now use)...so the competitiveness is really fun..We throw in Blue Clay up in Ft WAyne & down here in Sebring Fl...but many here are still "slidin' them in" in the sand...yuk!!

Also a few beers in hand on a hot summer day just for the fun of it is a cure all for everything...uh huh/.... ;^) JJ

  5. Me too Jim....as I've had some pretty interesting stories show up in my life...especially right after my divorce a few years back, where "dumpster diving" turned out to be a pretty Godly blessing...ah the stories I could tell...LOL JJ

  6. Hi...JJ here...spending a little part of the winter down in southern Florida..One of the main reasons I come this way is because of the abundance of horshoe players & CLAY pits down here...I was just curious if any of you (male or females) "like" or love the game as I do..

Up in Indiana...we have different leagues that one can belong to..same down this way..so its a real good way to meet good people with a commmon interest.

Also, 80% of the people who throw in this league down here in Florida are "snowbirds", and you can see by their faces that they are quite tickled to be thowing shoes in 70 degree weather while back home its probably not gonna top 30 for a high!! God Bless JJ

  7. One of the most memorable things I remember about VPW was his consistently repeated prayer in which he prays to God about his being a good & faithful servant and about to receive great rewards for his faithfulness....I always wondered if he thought that the prayer (which totally elevated himself in the eyes of his followers (he thought))..was a prayer that he truly believed or not..

I had a couple of one on one encounter with the man & saw a side of him that was most arrogant & non condecending...so to watch him pray that prayer now & then (especially in his last days) was about the most comical thing I remember about him, & it totally removed the mask he hid behind via his "research"..

I figure it this way..if you were WC....you saw alot more of the "cultish" demands than we who were not WC...& even though I was exposed to some good & some evil WC ..most of the evil ones I blew off & just didn't go along with it...thus I to this day don't see my involvement as ever an involvement with a "cult"...just the trappings of the WC that were easy for me to blow off & just "do what's right"..instead of the baloney they were trying to sell... 8. Hey looks like its annonymous....the mystery lady from PFAL , whoever she may be is now my official "mother in da word"...hopefully she'll retain some sort of biblical accuracy & I appreciate the gentle guidance of each responder who, even though I'll dedicate a portion of my life to, I'll need to now rethink my entire theological position, so not to offend the above posters...

"Its the wierd, the wierd & nuthin' but the wierd!"

  9. Hi everyone...I haven't posted in a few...but it just tickled my brain cells this morning who I would consider to be my "mother in the Word..since VPW was supposedly Our infamous FITW..so who dost thou saith??(pronouced "seth...PLEEEEZE")..

I sure can't go with cracklin Rosie on this one...& MRS VPW will probably be the "victor" (pun intended)..

    Just for fun...JJ

  10. We left pretty much after the POP came across our path..then a brief meeting with Ralph down in Indy with JAL pretty much convinced us..especially doctrinally, that things were'nt where we anted them to be..the sexual improprieties weren't THAT big of issue to us...but for me personally...the Law of Believing (theory) was my big "hitter" as I saw so many of our peoples lives just in total condemnation, for their inability to "believe God for _________. (you name it)" We quickly discovered that "you have NO friends when it comes to the Word" literally...as our entire friendship base was TWI....but in time people who were good, inquiring people in the area...did come back to us friendship wise..Running a twig really put on on the bubble & personally, I was AMAZED at how quickly we were asked to leave..after simply sharing the Romans l3 stuff from Ralph...LOL JJ

  11. teknon...God bless you!! For your honesty in realizing the truth in some of these areas...some of what you read is VERY hard to swallow, BUT its great...peacewise...once you come to grips with the WAY things really are/were.

I sure welcome you as well & please feel free to e-mail me as well if I can be of any help!! JJ

  12. Funny this topic should come up..I was dealing with an individual who's quite proud of the many men she's had relationships with..perhaps this should be its own thread, but does anyone remember the so called "Deliliah" spirit thingie & isn't it coincidental that VPW & LCM & the rest were so "satified" with the many many women who "MUST" have had such spirits or something..

My question is this...where in the Bible does it make this connection? I'm quite familiar with the Deliliah account, but where did they make it to be some sort of lingering spirit that pushes women into this behavior?? JJ

  13. When it comes to faith..I've summed it up pretty simply (for my life that is)(so this is my "PI") If you catch yourself praying to God for help..its a sign that you MUST have faith, because why would you bother if you didn't expect God to do something? Its like a child asking Dad for something..if Dad lets him down time & time again with his requests..then he'll stop asking, because he no longer has "faith" in the Dad. The woman touching the hem of JC's garment had "great" faith..I mean think about it..she didn't ask to be ministered to nor to speak with Jesus..she just figured touching even the hem of the garment would suffice & by golly it did!! Holy hanna...what GREAT faith..she had watched Jesus I'm sure or "heard" about the miracles & made up her own mind what to "try" & try she did. Simple..just the way God designed it. So the next time you do battle over whether to pray or not & YOU decide to go ahead & pray..by golly you've got FAITH!..then its up to God /Jesus whoever to "proove" themselves DAILY to you..& that they will!! JJ

  14. I'll take Watered Garden's upbeat testimony any day over Geoge Arr's pessamistic outlooks..heck..if I twist an ankle or bruise myself..my first thought is " hey God please help"..can't see a down side to it George or any of you other skeptics..how dare you insult the God of Miracles..just look in a mirror if you want to see the greatest miracle of all..but if you don't want to believe it..then good for you..go wallow in your unbelief..& make the Word of God of none effect in your lives..Just can't believe the negativity of some of you..God help you when you stand before your creator!! 16. I too agree with several of you...CES thus far hasn't forced themselves on me & the 3 tops guys seem to desire dialoguing with anyone on any subject related to their ministry..

I went thru the Momentus training & parts of it were very valuable to me...BUT I didn't go into it mentally messed up...for those who struggle mentally..Momentus would be a tough program to handle..so I don't know if promoting it is/was a good idea...my jury's still out on that one!! JJ
