Well, I think he has a very valid argument here, but I have a problem with the following: “When liberals argue for gay marriage, they make it sound like a really good employee benefits plan. Or they frame it as a civil rights issue, like extending the right to vote.” Marriage is a commitment of the heart. It has nothing to do with rights and privileges afforded by the gov’t. However, the legal license that the government (of the people and for the people – even gay people) gives to married couples has everything to do with rights, and so – yes! It is a civil rights issue.
