  1. Tonto I recently found arc icon_smile.gif:)-->

DMiller my thoughts at this point are quite etherial in form, I see it as an imbalance of ki or power or energy and that there are points (like in accupressure) that can rebalance it, not only in the relationship but also within the abuser.

Humor is a great diffuser as is changing the topic or walking off BUT these are quick fixes in nature.

Breaking the cycle of isolation and silence is a powerful balancing agent and is encourgaged by mental health professionals and journalists alike.

Confronting the perp, laying all the cards on the table and backing the well measured words with consistant actions can be another.

Fighting back, nothing will get a perp looking for another victim than one that hits back, essentially they are scared schoolyard bullies who've grown up...and if ya want to really mess with their heads, stick around and keep an eye on them LETTING them know your still there and watching icon_eek.gif

  2. Exie...Were you thinking of me when ya had it? icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

Hey my college is one of like 3 colleges teaching humanistic psych. So far I've had intro (of course) developmental, humanistic and now abnormal anim-smile-blue.gif

  3. I think you are right ckeer its much deeper than just the power because while they strive to have the power once they have achieved domination they continue striking out at folks. I think it's probably related to what AA call's character defects which oddly enough have a common denominator called fear.

LCM had fears that the ministry was being taken over by pillow munching fags icon_rolleyes.gif:rolleyes:-->

I'm certain he had delusions of his man'o gawdness icon_wink.gif;)-->

and there can be little doubt his perception of his leadership and people skills (research skills public speaking skills ...) was vastly overrated...

I think there should be a law somewhere that when you rise to the top of an org your power over others should decrease proportionatly.

  4. I'm beginning to believe that abuse, no matter the style or system (family, governments, religions etc) all follow basicly the same pattern and essentially result from an imbalance of power either percieved or real.

I've got a few thoughts on the patterns which can be traced pretty much from one type of abuse(genocide) to another (domestic violence, workplace violence etc) but then again I could be mistaken, what say ye?

And as a follow up question, it would seem then that there would be some common ways to deal with abuse such as education and self empowerment. So what say ye again?

  5. Thanks Zix icon_smile.gif:)--> I'll need another pov and insight as this develops.

Right now the college is quoting me commercial film rates for the production work. The consensus is a digital shoot as it reduces overall costs considerably and will do all that we require.

One of the groups recently hired a media production person and is willing to do that part of the work as well as locate and manage the $ which is fine by me as that means less work fer the herbalmeister (I am a firm believer in letting the experts do what they are expert at). I am hoping to be able to mostly write scripts and locate on camera experts.

    Keep yer fingers crossed

Hey Steve n Cindy, I lost yer address and believeitornot I have that bowl packaged and setting on the counter waiting to be mailed herbiejuan@hotmail.com

  6. Thank you for your input icon_razz.gif:P-->

So far the Upper Chattahoochee River Keepers, Carroll Tommorrow, Georgia Organics and Chatt Flint have expressed interest and I just got off the phone with a civic group that has committed to providing funding icon_smile.gif:)--> and technical assistance.

Time to sharpen the pencil icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

  7. WWJLA

Hey I hear ya! only I spent 20 yrs dating this one girl...

I guess the real question is have you ever heard of a snipe hunt??? icon_wink.gif;)-->

Once we get closer to the actual roast we'll set up a meeting spot either at a cabin or main campsite so folks can find us when they arrive.

I would like to get an idea of who is bringing what in terms of food and cooking equiptment. Hawk is going to show up later in the weekend so his stuff won't be there to cook with which means...we need pots and pans and a gas grill. If you are local and can bring these things please let me know and if you are bringing food that too.

If there are any questions about the roast I can be reached at herbiejuan@hotmail.com

  8. Sorry Sudo I was kidding about the camp host thing, the phrase reletively sane shoulda been the tipoff icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

If I hadda guess I'd say as large as last years or half again as big. I'm bringing at least one of my kids and several local folks expressed interest in coming.

The only issue I forsee might be folks coming in unexpectedly late and needing help setting up a tent or rustling up some grub but we sorta handled that last year unsupervised icon_wink.gif;)--> so other n letting folks know where the camping spots gonna be ahead of time (JF??) and a cabin/room # in case they get lost, life should be fine

  9. Keith worries me but then so do most of them old potbellied farts

I saw Willie at the Tabernacle in Atl a few years back fer @ 35$ per and being in an old church lent alot to the atmosphere he came out afterwards and signed autographs by his tour bus, staying till everybody got one.

Dylan plays at the midtown music festival every few years as do such notables as REO Speedwagon, Funkadelic, Steve Miller, Journey and Kansas. For @ 50$ for a weekend pass, gas parking and munchies you can have a great time watching the scenery pass by listening to great tunes.

  10. Since this event could be a rather large event I am currently seeking relatively sane people to serve as camp hosts. The duties will include snipe hunting and playing hide and seek with the waygb.

Applicants should be versed in what poisen ivy looks like and be able to tell the difference between man or beast at 100 yrds icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

  11. I got great seats for Annie Lennox/Sting for $125 similar seats from resellers today are running @ $300+

I've pretty much decided to pay whatever the rate is in order to see some acts like The Stones (who may or may not be around that much longer) so I would say my max would be $250 for kick arse seats in a decent venue. Hell fer a three day event I'd be willing to ante up a grand fer a righteous time icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

  12. I have been approached by interested individuals about starting a production company. The primary product will be environmental dv's for distribution to media outlets like pbs. The target audience is 25-55 college educated citified folks.

For starters there will be a media intern shooting the film and a professional outfit handling the post edit work. I will be developing the semi scripted outlines and coordinating the various elements of the production icon_smile.gif:)--> IF IF IF this gets funded

So asides from doing a happy dance and writing lots of notes for the proposal I'm wondering, what with all our exway production folks out there, if you might have some ideas or suggestions.

I am currently working through cybercollege's production series and observing hgtv and the history channel for the general feel of shooting an educational film BUT if you've done this before and have some tips or advice I'd welcome your input.

At this juncture this project will consist of 4 psa's shot on location and voiced over, two 30 minute films using a multimedia approach for civic orgs and gov groups and 4 30 minute educational pilot series targeted to them urbanized college folks.
