  2. Here's one that I sang to my kids at night before bed.

    Peace Peace wonderful peace

Coming down from the Father above

Sweep over my Spirit forever I pray

    In fabulous billows of love.

Got any rivers you think are uncrossable

Got any mountains you can not tunnel through

God specializes in things called impossible

And He can do..... what..... no other power can do

    They absolutely LOVE it!!!!!!!

ILB, Those poems were lovely!! :eusa_clap:

Welcome ciwawa... I love that song too

WW, That is my all time favorite.. I never knew of the extra verse. Thanks for shareing it :)

  3. Thanks Bliss,

I will pray for her and the situation. That was good about not wanting to get involved with anything that reminds me of abuse in the name of God. I will talk to her.

Thank you my dear friend :love3:

  4. Thank you Dr. Tom and George :)

I didn't want my post to be too long, but what I didn't explain was that she is convinced that her church is the right one. She never wants to hear what others have to say about thier churches or beliefs. She's never mean about it, but she has a way of knocking other beliefs and the way people do things at their church down.

So, it's not just in my head. She has in the past played the ignor card a few times to me when I didn't go to something she has invited me too. In other words, barely speak to me or make any conversation. So, you see what I'm saying?

I'm sure she likes me and would like me involved in her church to be on more common grounds maybe, but I feel that if I do tell her how I really feel then that will be the end of our nice talks and hanging out times.

I hate loseing friends over religion :( It certainly brings back bad memories.

    Wond--ering :biglaugh:

  5. I hope it ok to post this topic here

I work with someone that could possibly be a nice friend. But, I think she just wants me to go to her church.

I remember being like that when I was in twi. I befriended people just to get them to twig. I really hated doing that and I don't appreciate anyone doing that to me. It feels so insincere.

She makes a point to find me to eat breakfast or lunch with her and talks about everyday stuff. She'll do this for a few weeks or so, then invites me to her church, which happens to be at least 45mins North of me.

I like her because she's not into gossip or speaks ill of anyone, which in todays society in very refreshing.

She also knows that I used to be in a cult. But, she obviously doesn't realize that I use to use the same tactics to get people to come to church with me.

She's been involved with the Church of Christ all her life. In fact, it's her family history. It's all she knows and of course doesn't believe it has cult behaviors. Just like how we used to be.

She's invited me several times within the past year. Each time I give her an excuse of not going. I really don't want to be rude to her.

I've heard from people who got out of that religion that it's a cult and very mind controling. I have also found this website.....

    www.ex-churchofchrist.com

It's reminds me of twi. It's a little freaky.

I don't know guys... I know I'm going to have to eventually sit down with her and make myself more clear about how I feel. I recently told her that I KNOW how it feels to really want someone to attend church with you and that you feel the need to help that individual see the light.

But again... she clearly does not understand where I came from.

Sorry to make this long, but only you guys could help in this situation.. I hope.

    Thanks, Frances

  6. I just remembered this..

My old roommate who was in the 18th Corps. showed me a video of the rodeo with one the corps. getting flipped

through the air and she was the clown trying to distract the bull away from him.

  7.

Not to change the subject on the hitchhiking issue..... but

How many of you remember or was a part of the" Rodeo Days" in the Corps.?

They stopped it a year before I went in.

And just think... I wanted to dress up like a clown and distract a BULL

They said someone got seriously hurt and they stopped the program.

Now tell me.. What in Sam's H#ll does that have anything to do with our training to be leaders???

OHHHH.... I guess we had to believe God not to get hurt by jumping in front of bulls, and riding them as well

    Just a thought.

  8. OM

I see it a little diferently than that.

Yes, we new that we would be challenged in many ways and we were. But, why is it so important to "Hitchhike"? That's not challenging nor is it biblical.

I and many others had a car. The main objective in going " Light Bearers" was to run a PFAL class.. period.

You had two weeks to get it together. Now.... that's CHALLENGING.

Not only are you walking unfamiliar streets, going door to door, bars etc... to meet people. If you didn't

have a car loaned to you while you were there, you had to use your thumb.

I happened to go to Denver.... in the winter. NOT FUN :nono5:

I'm just saying that it would've been so much easier if we had our own cars.

Again, we were sent out ONLY TO START A CLASS!!! Not to risk our lives :(

  9. OM.. I never said I was forced.

I said that we would be M&A. That means YOU as a spiritual partner would no longer be able to communicate with those who were M&A.

How would that make you feel? All the money you put into that person, then you get a letter stateing that

thay were kicked out or put on probation because they were going against what leadership told them to do.

The people in the Corps. commited themselves to GOD and the Ministry. We were taught day in and day out

to not go against leadership because that would be wrong in God's eyes. And foolishly, we believed it. Not

because we were forced. But because our hearts only wanted to please HIM.... Our Heavenly Father.

  10. OM.

We were told to pack our bags if we had a problem

    Hitchhiking!

Therefore, also being M&A in the process of leaving. So if that isn't cruel punishment for NOT

wanting to put yourself into danger and doing what is expected of you, then your eyes are REALLY clouded over

    of the cruelty of twi.

  11. Johniam,

I'm sure alot of folks before twi, like in the seventies when times were a little safer, may of not had cars to take them where they needed to go. AND that was THEIR choice to hitch rides all over the country.

But when it comes to us who had cars and were perfectly capeable of driving to our destinations, why in the h*ll would they MAKE us do such a fool hardily act and risk our own lives? :asdf:

To me hitchhiking are for those who don't have transportation and the money to get it. (still not a smart way to travel. IMO)

How many of you that went LEAD and the Corps. had vehicles?

  12. That's terrible Catcup :( I'm so sorry that happened to you.

TWI's policies were really screwed up when it came to needed any medical attention :realmad:

The short time I was at HQ I remember getting sick with a real bad throat infection. I was so sick. The uvala ( the thing that hangs in the back of the throat) was as big as a large marble. They didn't let me go to the Dr. until they saw that. I was sick for nearly a week with high fevers before being seen by a physician.

The Dr. in town couldn't believe how bad my throat looked. He gave me a high dose of antibiotics via shot in my butt, then 2 weeks of meds.

  13. And don't forget for those of us who went out Light Bearers. We HAD to hitch rides to our desitinations. I

thought that was ludacris. Believe God for your rides. Our corps had to go out twice too. We

    met some real wierdos :o

  14. Great picture Belle :)

It's a good thing your hear at GS, and that you've come so far in the last 2 years. I'm sure you too have

helped many others here through some rough times with your insiteful posts and warm personality. I

myself think your just the greatest :D

Here's to you  or if you'd rather have a cup of coffee :)

  15. Tom, :) I had talked about this in one of my post in the doctrinal section . In the 80's they were teaching

that the "Abundant Shareing" was above and over the tithe. If you were not living the abundant life, or if

you or a family member were to become ill or anything in a serious negative matter was happening with

you , then it must be because you were NOT giving "Above and Over the Tithe" In other words, God was

protecting you up to 10%. I have no records of that in writing. But, we were constantly being told that by

the leadership in our area at that time.
