  1. Yup... The figure 8 cord wind.

I worked in housekeeping the first year in residence, then 2 months at HQ on staff. They had a lot of quarks in the housekeeping stuff. Like...... I cleaned the stairs everyday at Gunnison and they weren't dirty at all!!!

I was told to that look at it like as if you were taking care of the household. How we as their leaders need to clean up after them spiritually, even if they look fine to us. It's our job to see that their spiritual needs are being met and sometimes it can get pretty dirty.... Gawd... and I fell for that rubish. I was just FREE labor :asdf:

And when you vacuum, it has to be in straight lines on the carpet :realmad:

    So ridiculous!!!!!

  2. Hey Radar

Yes, I heard that he was married and was in John Shroyers group. In fact I think he was the one who married them if I'm not mistaken.

    Nice to see you :)

    Frances

  3. Thanks WaferNot, :)

I can't believe I forgot their names. I worked under her all that year. TOUGH COOKIE she was!!! She was pretty cool most of the time. It wouldn't surprise me if they were still in either.

    Frances

  4. I haven't heard from ANYONE. It's kind of wierd too. What happened to the 21st WC????

I really only new the ones we were with at Gunnison. Like Ali, Laurie and I were pretty good friends. Judy, Karen and a few others I've forgotton their names.

Do you remember the name of the one who was head of housekeeping there? She was married to Dennis, they had a little girl (Mercedes) I wonder what happened to them :(

I did have a good time that year. It was extremely challenging. Thank God I was young :biglaugh: I would have never been able to do that stuff now. I remember there was an older woman there with us, she was ALWAYS taking naps. She just couldn't get out of bed.

Do you remember when I hurt my back? Everyone was bringing me snow ice packs, food, music to listen to, healing tapes etc...

It's so sad to develope such wonderful friendships, then one day it over and and you lose everyone :(

Well, Vic I hope we can find our lost friends some day.

  5. Here's a list of things that are apparent in cult movements: :nono5:

    1) There is a lack of authority over the leader of the group.

The teachings in cult groups usually center around one person. They establish themselves as the authority because of a special "gift " they have or a special enlightenment they recieved. (See 2Cor 10:10-11;11:5) for how the false teachers were attempting to winthe believers over by degrading Paul and setting themselves up as "super apostles"

    2) There is a sence of great self-pride, particularly within the leadership of the group, as well to isolate their followers because of their "superior" knowledge. (see 2Cor 11:6)

    3) There is a desire for money and power. (see vs. 20)

    4) There is moral impuity. (see 1Cor 5:1-2) Where it indicates a moral looseness of a member of the church living with his fathers wife.

    5) There is a strong resistance on the part of the leaders to any form of accountabilty.(see 2Cor 11:15)

    6) There is always some type of a "works" program involved. (see Gal 5:1 : Eph 2:8-9)

    7) There is a twisting of the Scriptures to make them fit their teaching (see Rom 16:17-19)

  6. I have NO problem telling people that I was in a cult now, because that is what it is!! But, many years ago I was ashamed to admit that. I soon realized that when I told people about twi and how they run their organization and the followers, many times people would say"WOW  sounds like a cult to me"

Just the other day I had an interesting conversation with a patient of mine that was left for dead in our ICU. His Dr. said he was going to die, so whats the point in doing any more changes on his Respirator. Well, that made many of us very angry and we convinced his mother into getting someone else on the case. He was only 38 and came in with pneumonia. He's also a Christain along with his mother and believes heavily into prayer and studying his bible. A new Dr. took the case and of course with God's help saved this mans life :)

I spent so much time in his room talking with him and his mother about Faith, and Prayer. He then told me that HE was in a cult for 3 years. He descibed to me almost exactly what twi was. I was blown away :o I then told him of my experience with the cult I was in. He too was blown away.

He was involved with The Church of Christ. He's wants to write a book about it to help others who are involved with this group. I told him about GS and how this website has helped so many people see how cultish twi is.

It was so nice spending time with theses people. In fact, he goes to Calvary Chapel of Ft. Lauderdale where Raf goes.

  7. (((((Vicki)))))

    How are you girl????

Yes, I remember Bill telling me all about his Light Bearers and how he totally blew it by partying so much. He was in soooo much quilt over it, I though he was going to leave. I often think about him and his well being for some reason. He was a great guy

    Nice to see you again

    Frances :)

  8. "

My question is, why do people feel it necessary to say "God told me?". -- What is the purpose in that?

Is it to show others that they are on talking terms with God - to exalt themselves in a small way? -- Is it to make what they say more authoritive -- more believable? -- Is it an ego thing? -- Is it a cultural thing, a conversational style used within certain groups?

Is it really God directly talking to them? -- Or is it thoughts and ideas coming together inwardly?

Honestly, when someone say "God told me" I am LESS likely to accept what they are saying than if they just said it."

I totally agree with you Goey. I've had a lot of people say that to me and it makes me feel uncomfortable every time. But like you, I don't refute it. I just don't engage a lot of conversations with people like that.

Sometimes to me it sounds like bragging. Not giving God the glory of what he has done for them, but letting

others think that God talks to them directly or audibly. I know God can do that, but REALLY... you've got to be walking and really knowing it's Him who's telling you things.

I know God puts things on my heart, like to do special things for others and later I see that and realize it was Him. Maybe not a that moment. But I will tell my husband how God did something really cool through me to bless someone. Giving Him ALL the glory.

I dunno.. maybe it's a pride thing when people do that.

I hate to be the one that doesn't agree with who won last night :(

Taylor definately had the winning personality :) , but he definitealy did NOT have the winning voice IMHO <_< He's a great entertainer to watch in a lounge act with several drinks on board.

Now Catherine is nice to watch and listen to, but she doesn't have what Taylor had as far as personality goes. I guess that's what won everyones vote for him

    I admit, I was a little disappointed.

Oh Well, Life goes on :biglaugh:

    Hi Belle

Sounds like a great place to work. I'm going to my Ortho Wed. to talk about my Plan of care for braces and TMJ issues :( . I'm very excited :jump:

The group I work with are extremely crazy and can be quite fun at times. Although, I know who I can share with and who I don't.

Our boss gets made fun of all the time. In fact, it could be quite a comedy act when they imitate him. It may sound mean to someone who doesn't know him, but once you understand his character, which he loves to screw people over, and lies to no end, then, the jokes are pretty funny :biglaugh: I try to stay out of most of that though :redface2:

My job is pretty rewarding. I mainly work in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care. I meet great parents, and not so great parents, good kids, and not so good kids. But , the majority of the time is spent taking care of athsmatics and kids with pneumonia. I also work all areas of the hospital too. It's great to be able to go just about anywhere there and see and hang out with someone I know and like. I only go back to my dept. when it's time to eat or to give report to the next shift. We do get along pretty well, considering the many different lives and life styles.

I'm actually going down to part time next month. 20 hours a week.. YIPPEE :jump: I LOVE being at home. I'm actually busier at home than at work lol. It's not even my job description thats the problem. It's the crap that goes on there thats harder to tolorate than it was in my younger days.

 Dunno... I guess I'm just mellowing out in my old age. Just call me Mello Yello :biglaugh:

    Frances
