  1. Especially when my ID is the least guarded secret on GSC.

Then again, using snippets of information to prop up an unfounded conspiracy theory when the facts that disprove that theory are readily available but ignored... isn't that the definition of his contribution to this thread?

  2. Ok, one more time:

Comorbidities are conditions that are exacerbated when an opportunistic disease is introduced.

Simply put: COVID doesn't typically kill on its own. It kills by weakening our defenses on other conditions that would not necessarily be deadly without it.

Recognizing the role of comorbidities in the severity of COVID is information.

Implying that therefore the threat of COVID is somehow being exaggerated is misinformation, not to mention unintelligent as an argument.

STOP. USING. GSC. TO. SPREAD. MISINFORMATION.

Every faulty argument you have made has been refuted, Allan. Please stop.

  3. The article Allan cited to prove NIH was funding "risky virus research" at Wuhan SPECIFICALLY SAYS COVID 19 was not a result of that research. When I repeated that, he said my assertion, TAKEN STRAIGHT FROM THE ARTICLE HE POSTED, "beggars belief."

Of course we know my comment is valid and not BS because if it were BS, Allan would have embraced it and spread it halfway around the world by now.

COVID misinformation and distortion is prolonging the pandemic. We will not permit the spread of misinformation on this site. Stop misrepresenting the research. Stop promoting agenda-driven political findings disguised as medical research.

    Thank you.

What I posted showed statistics about the number of vaccinations numerous countries in southeast Asia and that it appears to transcend politics.  Don't think I even mentioned politics.  The point being the "anti-vaxxers" can't seem to explain why they are antivaxxers.

The source material remains in the thread by the quoted poster though . . .

    That... that's what I said. :)

  5. Folks,

We hit a wall after getting halfway to our goal.

I do urge you to consider joining us in sharing the expense of keeping this resource open and available.

I assure you none of the moderators gets a dime of this.

To those who gave, thank you. To those who can't, thank you. To those who cam, please find the time and willingness to help.

    Thank you all.

  6. Dear GSC users:

Once again, we are asking for your help.

You know why you come to GSC. To explore the past, to process the present, to share news that might not otherwise get disseminated. Through your content contributions (ie, your posts, memories and reflections), you have made GSC the go-to resource for "the other side of the story" on The Way International.

For the first time in three years, we are asking you to help the site's founder, Pawtucket, meet some of the expenses of maintaining the page, an expense that comes to roughly $1,200 a year.

Honestly, it should be an annual pledge drive, but the truth is we feel squeamish asking for money and we haven't done this since 2018. We're not a church. We're not pushing a set of beliefs and won't kick you out for simply disagreeing with a popular post or person. We don't have mugs or t-shirts. All we have is an open forum in which we are all welcome to exchange thoughts and ideas.

In other words, we have what TWI could never give us (what CES tried and failed to give us): A VOICE with permission to speak freely.

The cost of keeping this resource available to every current and former member of TWI should not fall on one person.

If 25 people donate $50 each, we will meet our expenses for a whole year. If you can give more, please do. Less will also be appreciated (we'll just have to count on more of you).

The donate button is on the upper left of every page. Let's make it easy.

I'll start us off with a $100 donation. Who will join me?

Looks like the main difference between this morning's track and the previous one I posted is the speed of the storm: It will now be, at 2 p.m., where it was earlier predicted to be at 8 a.m. That means it's slowing down and. depending on the water temperature, it will have time to pick up some speed.

    FWIW.

    Stay safe.

Not a lot of shift in the last 24 hours. The Tues/8 a.m. position is a touch closer to land.

For those who don't recall: I am on the east coast of Florida, so I will get some effects, but this forecast still puts us far from the worst of it.

That said, the actual path could be anywhere in the cone and still be a good prediction. In other words, I won't know it's missing us until after it misses us.

For those in the path, please get your prep in!

  9. Greetings, St. Christopher (love the screen name):

When I'm not moderating, I'm Raf. I wanted to clarify and amend WordWolf's response to be a little more clear.

The Greasespot Cafe is an online community of former followers of The Way International (and its offshoots, to a lesser extent). We are not unified in our beliefs. We have no teachings. We have no doctrine. We have no heirarchy. A few moderators stick around to make sure the conversations are cordial and that no one uses this platform to commit actionable slander.

Some of us maintain that Wierwille was a man of God whose legacy was attacked after he died and he was the victim of a long campaign of posthumous character assassination. One of us (maybe more, I don't know) believes that the written works of Wierwille are, in fact, the God-breathed Word and more trustworthy than your Bible for all things that pertain to life and godliness.

Some of us think Wierwille was sometimes right and sometimes wrong. We don't even agree with each other on what he was right or wrong about! So there's a lot of variety. You could believe he got Speaking in Tongues right but that Jesus really is God. Or that he got the Trinity right but gifts of the spirit wrong.

This particular thread is about the joint effort of two groups at odds with each other over at least one crucial doctrine and maybe more. And it's an interesting conversation (or it was two years ago when we had it).

Some of us have embraced traditional Christianity.

Some of us have left Christianity for another religion. Pretty sure we have one wiccan or practicer of reiki (confession: STILL don't know what that means).

And some of us embrace no religion at all.

  10. Raf, speaking with the modhat on:

I think a good 40 to 60 percent of the GSC rules were written to stop me from being less than hospitable to Mike. If they sometimes seem like, "really? that's a rule?" I may be to blame for it.

We may not be as intense as we were in the olden days, but I do think we're a more polite place than we used to be, and I kind of appreciate that. I hope everyone else does, too.

Welcome back (again), Mike. Hope you enjoy your stay and enjoy some good conversation. Even if I think you're mmmmphhhmpphpmphhphphmhmmhmmmhmhhppphphhhphph!!!!!

[content removed for violation of GSC rules: STOP THAT, RAF!!!]
