I used IE7 to post tonight and found George's toolbar problem.
Anyone else? My experience with the site using IE7 can be summed up in one word: Sucks!
As you may imply, I rarely use IE anything .... or Microsoft anything anymore ... for obviously good reasons....
Ah....why use IE when there are so many other better browsers out there?

That was pretty damn good!
Gotta love John Stewart. :)

To make matters worse for them they allow their site to display the server banner and it allows subdirectory indexes to show. If someone where to decide to hack their site this info would get em off to a good start.
Allowing your web server to index a directory of images -- especially ones you are so concerned about you prevent people from right-clicking on them -- is plain carelessness.
I've never been a fan of hiding the server banner though (try doing it with Microsoft's ISS -- unless they've changed it in the last few years). It only matters if you never upgrade it and the version you're running has a known vulnerability. As long as you keep up, nothing wrong with it.
Besides, it's not that much harder to figure out what type and version of software a web site is running without the banner anyways.

My take one it:
Apparently they duped someone with some experience on the web to go to HQ and work for peanuts for them -- or they hired some kid as a contractor.
The site obviously is using a standard CMS software package. Not sure which. Doesn't really matter. Way more better than the Frontpage crap they had up before.
They are using Google Analytics to track traffic to the site. I'm sure google will report that most of their traffic was referred there from here.
Every page contains the following javascript at the end:
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function norightclick() { alert(html2unicode("Right-Click Disabled")); return false; } // --> </script>
This function is to prevent someone from right-clicking on something. The only place I've found where it is used is their crappy theme image:
Like any one would want to right click on that to save it. Ugliest POS I've seen in awhile (and WTF does "making god our sufficiency" mean? -- how does one make a god do anything? )
Feel free to right-click on that image if you like.
BTW: That image is copyright The Way International. Used without permission under fair use laws.
Also pulling the image directly from their site. If they were so concerned about the image and knew wtf they were doing, they would know how to prevent this very thing. I suspect someone there will be doing "research" on the subject really soon....
And whoever put the site together knows nothing about search engine friendly urls.
My 2 cents...

Chas....You weren't supposed to use Waydale as a dating site....
You know better... :)
-
What if you lurked at Waydale but joined GreaseSpot?
-
It's true...it was me
OK. But no one will believe it though.
I moved the rest over since I apparently replied while you were moving....
-
Oh, they monitor this site rather well.
I could document it but what's the point? Don't really care.
-
For the record, I didn't split this out into a new topic.
Just saying....
-
Or, one could point out these as evidence of a common origin of many cultures/religions. All eagerly expecting the same future event.
just saying . . . no evidence can be conclusive.
Or a common human trait of not looking forward to death and wanting to find a way to escape/cheat it and live forever.

The resurrection is not.
It is unique to Christianity. It is what draws the distinction between Christianity and other faiths. Without it you have a nice collection of wisdom literature. Which may be a point some are trying to make.
Er.....um......
excepting Horas, Tammuz, Krishna, Mithras, Buddha, Attis.....to name a few.
Just saying....
I remember them making that clam in TWI. Wasn't researched that well.

I believe it's ok to use Rosalie Rivenbark and Donna Martindale's full name here (like I did so Google will pick up on it )

Doesn't really look like forced by the law. Looks more like lawyers telling them they should it or be prepared for more lawsuits like the Allen's.
I do believe the Allen's scared the dang out of them.

That's a good one.
Think I fixed it...

Pawtucket or a mod
Do you know why the link to the time line and the link in question for the board isnt working?
Try looking here: http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/the-off-shoots/

I wrote up some basic info on using the chat room, including a listing of emoticons that work.
-
I finally got off my duff and put in a slew of bug fix upgrades. Hopefully it took care of most of the problems.
If not, let me know.....
BTW: There's a chat room now.
-
-
Got an IRC chat room sort of working, if anyone wants to try it out. There's a "chat" option on the top menu.
Emoticons (smileys) aren't working yet. Trying to figure out why.
If you know IRC and have your own preferred client, the settings are:
Server: irc.irisheyesinternet.net
Channel: #greasespotcafe
Kick the tires. Let me know.

Penwork's analysis of The Way's "good old days" and all subsequent replies were moved to it's own thread - which it definitely deserves.
You can find it here: The Way's "Good Old Days" -> Deluded Nostalgia

I'm thinking of going back, doing my penitence, just to take this class!
Think about it! The ability to talk people into taking a class!
Doesn't that just excite you?
I can barely contain myself....

This topic sucks. Your use of another person's death and obituary so casually and sarcastically is in bad taste. This was another human being, and a good person, not the organization you hate.
She and her husband were active members of The Way International. They were running a fellowship out of their house. They had every right to expect the benefits preached by The Way International. Instead they have this.
Seems like valid questions to me.

Is it just me, or does no one grow old in The Way?
All the promises about a "more than abundant life" -- long life, more than conquerors, etc. etc. etc.
Show me the money!

Note: I'm starting this here to discuss the question, when is enough enough? When do you stop believing the crap The Way International is teaching? Is the untimely death of someone enough?
Also, speculation on how the "leaders" of The Way will spin this. They're normal procedure is to blame the individual or husband -- allowing fear in their life, letting the adversary in. Because, of course, their doctrine could never be wrong....
Well wishes should be done in the Memoriam thread or the Guest book linked to above.
So, when is enough enough?
When do you call bullsht?
