  1. I met Paula a few years back and she's a wonderful lady. I met Groucho in Houston, or so I've been told, but I don't recall...

All I know it's truly wonderful and I'm very happy for both of you!

    It's all good!!!!!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving, Greasespotters!

Our church fed 128 people a free Thanksgiving feast last night - didn't even accept any cash donations. We put flyers up around town and mentioned it to anyone who used our food pantry. The food was all donated and most all of it was prepared and brought in regardless of whether or not the cook could stay for the meal. I don't know what was more fun, peeling 60 pounds of potatoes, cooking 6 turkeys and the general kitchen work that went into all that and then the endless parade of dishes, pots and pans or the sitting down and eating of the meal itself. The entire day was a hoot!

Today, the princess is still asleep and we'll eat leftovers as we feel the need, watch a movie or two and maybe get some housework caught up. Other than that we're just hanging here at home - having a peaceful day together.

Our church/food pantry is doing that today. Of course my contribution will be lotsa photo's which will appear on Facebook.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and like Dot Matrix, in HIS name.

  4. wOW! If you don't mind, may I ask your age at that time? That must have had quite an effect on a young man.

November 22,'63 was five days before my 16th birthday.

The thing followed me for a while after that. In 1969, I transferred from Texas Tech to the University of Texas at Arlington. I had a foreign language requirement and the Latin I took at Tech wasn't available at UTA, so I decided to take Russian. My instructor was George DeMohrenshildt who I found out was rather deeply implicated in the assassination. He told us he was a professional geologist and just taught Russian at UTA and French at Bishop College in Dallas "for the hell of it".

    <IMG SRC="http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/JFKdemohrenschildt2.jpg"

    It was all very fascinating.

  5. I stole this from a Greasespotter from Facebook.

    I love it!

  6. Tractors, forklifts and garbage trucks have the little beepers in reverse. Why not install one of those?

Or better yet, have some sort of diode and loud speakers that sound like a 440 hemi with glass packs.

That would give your Prius some personality.

  7. I skipped school that day to go to Dallas and see the president, so I know exactly where I was that day. I was close enough to Dealy Plaza to hear the shots and hear all the screaming.

As my friends and I were going home to Ft. Worth, I remember the sporadic reports on the radio mingled with music. Then the song "Surfin' Bird" was interrupted to announce his death at around 1 in the afternoon. That entire day is so very vivid in my memory.

I never skipped school again after that.

  8. Once I thought my innocence was gone

Now I know that happiness goes on

    That's where you found me

When you put your arms around me

I haven't been there for the longest time

    So you like Billy Joel...

    Billy's great, but Shostakovich rules!

    Ya gotta love it!

  11. Dooj...

I can't even imagine what you're going through right now. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said about Rummy. All I can say is damn it hurts...the loss of one so caring and intelligent.

My heart goes out to you and all our prayers continue.

  12. I bought a web domain through godaddy.com to facilitate my photo stuff...promotion and maybe to show proofs to clients.

So far, all I've been able to do with it is to stare blankly at my monitor. I know how to write a little html and have done some <A HREF="http://webspace.webring.com/people/du/um_4338/">free sites on the old geocities</A>, but this ain't geocities.

If anyone might have a little extra time on their hands and could help out, PM me.

This whole concept of "going digital" has it's upsides, but it sure has it's downsides...and sliding down the learning curve can be a bumpy ride.

  13. In the past the Way International has been accused of Anti-Semitism

For example the ADL in 1982:

Anti-Defamation League accuses religious group of Anti-Semitism

    St. Petersberg Times - July 24, 1982 p. 37

    My link

And one of the largest newspapers in Arkansas in 1995:

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette says concerning The Way International: ”Charges of anti-Semitism brought more unwanted publicity when followers were urged to read

“The Myth of the Six Million” and “The Hoax of the Twentieth Century.” Both

books cast doubt on the Holocaust. Six ex-followers have told the Arkansas

Democrat-Gazettethat Wierwille and other Way leaders had taught that the

Holocaust was a myth concocted by the Jews.”

    - The Way: After a family breaks up, questions arise about the group; By Mary Hargrove; Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Staff Writer

    October 15, 1995

    My link

I understand TWI denies any anti-Semitism.

Does anyone have insight on this issue? I would love to know the truth.

    Hi James,

I just wanted to mention that the Arkansas Democrat Gazette article you posted refers, by name, to a certain leader, Monty H. who, as far as I know is still "in". I knew him quite well at the time...well, a little earlier than that when he was Asst. LC.

I once asked a leader (not the one mentioned in the article, but his predecessor) about what I perceived as an underlying anti holocaust tone in the ministry which I'd never noticed until LCM became grand poobah. He explained that since there were no longer any actual Jews (they all were killed by Romans at Masada), all those people who Hitler thought were Jews, weren't really Jews as the real Jews were long since replaced by Eastern Europeans so since all those people killed weren't actually Jews, only pretend Jews, there was no actual holocaust.

TWI logic was a thing of epic wonder.

I'm having.......how do I say this and be polite.....a weird and crazy phhhucquing day, so it doesn't seem not to fit, somehow, just curious.

  15. Too big to fail, too big to screw up?

Seems a bit arrogant to me but it's the capitalist way, get big or get out, thats what James Watts told farmers back in the day, look where that got us, imported junk from china that's contaminated, large tracts of farmland in Calif ruined from salts. BP isust one more example of bigger is not always better, especially when prudent oversight is neglected or circumvented... go figure

Corporatism is NOT the same as Capitalism. NO ONE should be "too big to fail", not even ADM.

  16. for dmiller :)
