  1. I was so dedicated back in the mid '80s.

I took mine and made internegatives and subsequently, 8x10's for whoever might want one. Natcherly, everyone in the area wanted one. Everyone was soooo blessed to get theirs.

All at my expense, of course.

    Uh oh

Oh...you were referring to Jehovah's Witnesses. I thought Jehovah HIMSELF was running around in your neighborhood.

    It had me confused.

I was wondering why He was there an not in the local Baptist Church where I'm told He normally hangs out.

  3. Our prayers are with you constantly. I'm going to talk to my friend Dr. Mellissa who knows a great deal about all this stuff and may actually be of some help. She's an MD and operates a family practice clinic in Leslie and is listed as one of the <A HREF=http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/arkansas.htm">top thyroid docs</A>, but she does other doctor stuff, too.

    I'm definitely praying.

  5. I listen to Alice's radio program most every night while driving. I'm a fan.

Ted Nugent would be a wonderful choice, too!

Maybe Alice for Prez and Ted for VP.

Unfortunately, everyone's favorite Mother, Frank Zappa is gone, now. He'd be the PERFECT choice!

  7. As you've probably noticed, you haven't heard from me since I first began reading this.

I decided to read it fully five times, which was no small task, but very well worth it.

Each time I read it, it was new and compelling.

Each time, I laughed so very hard...each time I read it, something new broke my heart...Each time I read it, I shared sometimes despair, yet sharing the triumph.

It doesn't happen often, but you've kind of left me at a loss for words.

One immediate question comes to mind, however.

Why haven't you been published a long time ago?

I can use words like "amazing", "awesome" etc etc etc...but there are no adjectives adequate to the task...it just is.

  8. Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I've been slow to reply or even take note since I've been in the middle of moving. We're finally settling in and life is smoothing out, now.

Most notably, after 16 years of dialup internet access, we're now in a location where DSL is available to uswhich we should get tomorrow.

Again, thanks for the birthday wishes!

  9. "Can you hear me now?"

<b>And how about titling the thread "You write the caption", since it's not really a contest?</B>.

    Great idea!!!

Now I won't have to give out that cash prize!

STOCKTON - An emergency room doctor could lose his license and spend time in state prison if prosecutors prove he stole a man's beloved Rolex watch off his wrist after a fatal heart attack.

Cleveland Enmon, 32, was jumpy during his first appearance in a Stockton courtroom to answer a one-count indictment charging him with felony grand theft of personal property.

The case stemmed from the death of retired Manteca Police lieutenant Jerry Kubena, who died of a heart attack June 1 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton. That's when Enmon allegedly slipped Kubena's beloved gold watch into his pocket.

"A family death is already difficult," Kubena's daughter, Karie Nelson, said in an emotional statement after the hearing. "This took it to an all new level."

Nelson and her brother, Jerry Kubena Jr., last week filed a wrongful death lawsuit further accusing Enmon of letting their father die so he could take the watch.

They also say the hospital attempted to cover up the theft to avoid liability. A St. Joseph's spokesman did not reply to a call seeking comment.

Kubena's son did not learn about the alleged theft from hospital administrators but rather from an acquaintance who works there. Nelson said she is angry at hospital officials and the doctor.

She said her father loved the watch, which was returned. It has an estimated valued of about $16,000, Kubena's relatives said. Kubena retired from the Manteca Police Department about 20 years ago and then worked as a private investigator.

"There's no doubt the doctor took my father's watch," said Nelson, who fears her father received substandard care from Enmon. "The minute he decided to do that, what was his interest to keep my father alive?"

According to the civil lawsuit Kubena's children filed, two nurses noticed the missing watch and a bulge in Enmon's pocket. Outside, a nurse said she noticed Enmon toss something in the grass, and a hospital surveillance camera captured Enmon.

Administrators immediately fired Enmon, according to the lawsuit.

Supervising Deputy Attorney General Gail Heppell said that - to protect the public - she is preparing to ask a judge to suspend Enmon's license until the criminal case is resolved.

"Stealing from a patient -that's heinous," said Heppell, adding that this is not an uncommon case. "Unfortunately, yes, I have to say this isn't the first time this has happened."

It appears that St. Joseph's administrators, who did not report Enmon to the Stockton Police or the state Medical Board, did nothing wrong according to state law, Heppell said.

She explained that Enmon did not work for St. Joseph's, but rather a doctor's registry, which supplies physicians to hospitals, similar to a temporary work agency.

As such, the Stockton hospital had no obligation under state law to report Enmon's alleged crime, she said.

Enmon said nothing in court. He appeared with Stockton attorney David Wellenbrock, who entered no plea but asked for more time. Wellenbrock said Enmon works at the Memorial Hospital of Gardena in Los Angeles County.

San Joaquin County Deputy Public Defender Stephen Taylor said Enmon has two traffic warrants from California and a third from Georgia.

San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge James Hammerstone allowed Enmon to return home to Hermosa Beach on a promise to appear at next month's hearing. Enmon is due back in a Stockton courtroom on Oct. 19.

    Ron's response...

Ahhhh, Sandy, How very fortunate you still have your passport!!! (AND your computer along with a VERY long list of addresses...over THIRTY that begin with "A".)

I am thrilled to be included in your voluminous list of dear friends eager to aid you in this, your hour of need.

Applying the standard bell curve to relative intelligence, of a group of 100, and your list is WELL over that, IQ scores will break down as approximately 60% between 90 and 110. 30% between 70 and 130 and about 5% over 140 and under 60%.

This should provide a sufficient number of "friends" who fall into that group of IQ's under 60-70. One problem you may encounter is the very group who might be reasonably expected to fall for your scam, are, by their very mental capacity, more suited to serving a speed bumps as opposed to being able to front you a plane ticket.

Perhaps we can solve your dilemma by suggesting you use the old and lame but apparently still, roping in suckers, gimmick of offering to send a cashiers check for even more than the person is asking...and telling them to "take what you need" and simply send the balance to your "agent".

This one appeals to their hidden greed and if properly played can be quite lucrative as it doesn't require that they be imbeciles to respond. dang for brains, but not IDIOTS.

As a last resort, you might try the well-worn Nigerian millionaire which with the relative absense of cost using internet distribution just MIGHT rope in a gullible "fish".

While you are awaiting the responses to your "plane ticket scam", you might polish up your technique by approaching folks (young guys...and leave your top button(s) inadvertently loosened) at service stations with the request that they "LOAN" you just enough gas money to get home to fill in town...about 150 miles away...or help you buy a spare tire as your is shot, and you have found a service station which will sell you one for $25.

Be SURE to ask for a return address to which you will immediately send replacement funds when you "get home" This routine has been known to return over $100 an hour, more, sometimes MUCH more if enough buttons are "missed" and if 'asker' is young, comely, innocent and preferably, blond.

This approach has the added benefit of allowing a last minute close' should you be turned down....that is: "I am really desperate...Just LOAN me the $25...I will REPAY you...AND I'll give you a b*** job."

If you are currently sporting braces or other wiry dental appliances, you can substitute a hand job, but returns may drop significantly.

I offer these friendly words of advice and hope they are helpful.

    Sincerely

    Helpful Ron

  12. If you look, you can almost make out the outline of Searcy County, Arkansas where there is neither a McDonald's or a Walmart. We do, however, have a Subway, Sonic and Pizza Hut.

I've never been to Starbuck's or even seen one here in Arkansas, although I'm sure they have them in Little Rock...but I don't go there much.
