  1. ...Howard is still on grounds and will be till his last breath. He is a very over rated and opinionated man. He participates in all the director group meetings but really doesn't have too much authority around there any more.

Doesn't that say anything to the general twi population? Mrs. Wierwille was put out to pasture at a nursing home, yet Howard the pig will remain on grounds till his last breath! And Donna Martindale remains despite her husband having been moved off grounds while how many corps were marked and avoided along with their spouses supposedly on account of the "one flesh" deal?

I'm so thankful they kicked me out. :eusa_clap:

  2. I don't know that I'm looking for "the truth" but I found myself missing the "fellowship" with other believers I enjoyed in the cult.

I found a church here where I live now that provides that camaraderie, that sense of belonging and a place to worship with other Christians without the pressure and condemnation so prevalent in the way.

My 13-year-old daughter is a trinitarian and I'm not. I may change my mind someday and maybe she'll change hers. That doesn't matter to us. We love each other and encourage each other regardless of what the other believes. I'm not worried that she'll go to hell if she isn't 100% likeminded with me on every subject under the sun.

Life's so much more fun this way! She and I were asked to read some scripture and light the unity candle for advent this morning and lead a prayer. She wore her choir robe as she's a member of the choir and when the lighter didn't work nobody chewed my butt cause the church's lighter died at that moment. It was taken in stride.

    Freedom is a beautiful thing.

  3. You freeze milk? Brilliant!

We have a gallon of milk, a gallon jug filled with tap water, a bottle of my Irish cream flavored creamer, store-bought tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese, an 18-pack of eggs, half a loaf of healthnut bread, a tub of store brand margarine, a 5-lb bag of flour, 2 Vidalia onions and a white onion, a bunch of celery, a bag of carrots, half a 5-lb bag of potatoes and assorted jams, jellies and preserves. We are out of ketchup and pickles, but we normally have those in there too.

In the freezer are 2 ice cube trays (both half empty, one of my pet peeves), a pound of burger, 3 lbs of chicken thighs and legs, a beef roast, half a bag of frozen hash brown potatoes, a bag of frozen strawberries, a half-empty half-gallon of chocolate chip ice cream and a loaf of garlic bread. The freezer in the basement is totally empty.

  4. I can relate to so much of what you wrote. I believe you'll recover and then some - and that there's still time for you to have an even better fit than the one that just passed by.

I was laid off almost 2 years ago now and have not replaced the income we were comfortable at. Today I'm bringing in one 25% of what I used to. I believe I'll find a better job any day now too.

It's tough, that's sure. I just can't and won't believe that God doesn't have something better in store for all of us who love Him.

I've added you to my prayer list. I look forward to hearing what comes up for you.

  5. Wow! He wrote me back already!!! Here's his reply:

    Donna,

Thank you so very much for your prayers. We got out (barely) on Wednesday morning. I sent an update to the church office but it apparently didn't get distributed.

Tuesday evening the rain began to lessen and actually stopped for a few hours during the night. Early the next morning I checked the crossing and found the water to be about 2' deep. We quickly loaded up and got out as it started to rain yet again. I give God all the credit and all of the glory. He answered our prayers very specifically. The rain slowed just long enough for us to get out. My wife called Southwest Airlines on Tuesday and explained the situation. They rescheduled him on the same flight for Wednesday with no change fees. He made his flight and got home safely. This is the worst flooding I have seen at the farm. Thank you so much for your prayers.

    God Bless,

    Lavon and Scott

  6. Box, you ever hear anything further about these people?

I was just wondering that same thought - the one thing I don't like about this particular prayer chain is they almost never come back with how it ended up. I'll be sure to ask someone on Sunday when I go to church. Hmmm, maybe I'll send an email asking how it ended up.

Edited to add I just sent him an email. I'll let you know what he says.

  7. TEACHER: Maria, go to the map and find North America

    MARIA: Here it is.

TEACHER: Correct. Now class, who discovered America ?

    CLASS: Maria.

____________________________________ TEACHER: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor?

JOHN: You told me to do it without using tables.

__________________________________________ TEACHER: Glenn, how do you spell 'crocodile?'

    GLENN: K-R-O-K-O-D-I-A-L'

    TEACHER: No, that's wrong.

GLENN: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it.

    (I love this kid!)

____________________________________________ TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?

    DONALD: H I J K L M N O.

TEACHER: What are you talking about?

DONALD: Yesterday you said it's H to O...

__________________________________ TEACHER: Winnie, name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago.

    WINNIE: Me!

__________________________________________ TEACHER: Glen, why do you always get so dirty?

GLEN: Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are.

    MILLIE: I is...

TEACHER: No, Millie..... Always say, 'I am.'

MILLIE: All right... 'I am the ninth letter of the alphabet.'

________________________________ TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father's cherry tree, but also admitted it. Now, Louie, do you know why his father didn't punish him?

LOUIS: Because George still had the axe in his hand.

______________________________________ TEACHER: Now, Simon, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?

SIMON: No sir, I don't have to, my mom is a good cook.

______________________________ TEACHER: Clyde, your composition on 'My Dog' is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his?

CLYDE : No, sir.. It's the same dog.

___________________________________ TEACHER: Harold, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?

    HAROLD: A teacher.

  8. Yeah, Bow, that was asked and answered months ago!

How about my NEWEST post? :)

    George

Ummm, well, uh, er, hmmmm, I have no idea how I did that. I thought it was funny cause someone just mentioned that movie where Tom Cruise slides across a floor wearing no pants and said it was a different movie and I corrected them. I'm usually the last one to see or retain lines from movies so I guess I just got too excited when I saw that here this morning. That was pre-coffee, but still, duh!

And no, I have no earthly idea what movie this new line comes from. Please excuse the interruption. It feels like a typical dumba$$ attack to me. :redface2:

  9. I read it too. I liked parts of it and absolutely hated other parts of it.

What I liked best was the freedom to think outside the box without condemnation.

I also really liked the conversations it stirred up in my life. One day I was reading it in a hospital waiting room while I waited for a friend to have day surgery. The surgeon came out to tell me my friend's surgery went well and saw the book in my hand. He asked my opinion of it, said that he had just read it and hadn't decided yet if he'd liked it or not, but he was glad to have read it and thought it inspired him to think outside the box of what his established beliefs were.

  10. Yeah! Belle turned me onto freecycle.com and I've subscribed for a few years now. I got a glorious christmas cactus from a lady who just didn't have room for it anymore. It just bloomed for me!

Tomorrow a lady is coming to my house to pick up all the little girly stuff I had for Annie's room to make it princessish - the canopy that hung from the ceiling over her bed, the pretty sheer curtains with the beads on them, the bedding fit for a princess in pinks and purples, Hello Kitty and Barbie junk - finally we'll be rid of them and this lady's 4-year-old granddaughter will be delighted to receive them. I'm tossing in a few books and a few dolls for good measure. I love freecycle!

Now Annie's a teenager and into an entirely different style. It's great to know someone will enjoy that stuff.

  11. I love this idea!

Last week I attended a dinner theater with a friend who bought my ticket and arranged for neither of us to have to drive the hour-and-a-half to get there from out town. She said that a friend of hers had been treating her to dinner out for several years since her husband passed away and she'd been looking for someone to "pay it forward" to and lucky me - I got to see Church Basement Ladies 2 with some wonderful company!

Especially these days when it seems most everyone is living below what we're used to, it's so refreshing to see people extending generous kindnesses.

  12. A man from my area sent the following request to our church's prayer list. Please pray for him.

I have a prayer request. I am deer hunting with my son at my farm. The

weather is very rainy and the stream that runs through the farm is badly

flooded. Our plan was to return to KC tomorrow so my son could catch his

plane to San Antonio. Long story short is that the road into my cabin is

flooded. The water is 5' over the road and we are stranded. We have enough

food and water for two extra days. With the weather forecast that may not

be enough. Please pray that the rain will subside and the stream go down

long enough that we can get out. Thank you and God Bless.

    Lavon

  13. :eusa_clap::eusa_clap::eusa_clap:

Bravo, Bravo!! Well told, my darlin' friend. I'm pleased to say I'm one of those friends that you met at Waydale and we've continued growing, raising our children together, laughing together, crying together, whatever was/is appropriate for the situation.

I love that you're strong enough to kick my behind when I need it and you can take it when I feel the need to ask you why the face??? Someone just asked me over the weekend if I had known you face-to-face back in the day and I had to laugh because it sure feels like you've been my best friend since we were kids!

I knew your way history pretty much most of it - but to read it and fill in what I had no idea about only brings me to respect and admire you all the more. I wouldn't have thunk that possible!

Thank you for telling your story - I pray it frees you as much as telling mine did me. I love you and am so proud of you and pleased for you!!!

  14. I understand, appreciate and agree with your response.

One difference I see is that you don't now go back to twig fellowship and pick up where you left off as if nothing ever happened since you were gone and start posting complaining that the fellowship didn't treat some other person quite right or blogging at their site like a house a fire. Seems to me a bit tacky and rather in-your-face insulting to paw specifically and the rest of us in general.

I have no idea who we collectively were not nice enough to. For all I know it was someone who came in here accusing us of lying abut vpw or lcm.

I'm glad to see excathedra back and I hope it wasn't just a fly-by post to tell us how awful we are, but rather a return to the fun exchanges we used to have.

Excathedra - I hope all is well in your world - your boy is at such a cool age now - I hope y'all are enjoying each other!

  15. Linda - I'm impressed with most of your last post here and agree with most all of it. However, I have to say that since I was one person being trashed over there at that site a couple years ago back when IGotBagPipes started trashing paw and some others of us that I was shocked and stunned to see posters from here over there talking about paw by his real name and saying things that were really not only "not nice," but downright mean and untrue.

I have no screenshots for proof, but as I ended up emailing someone in an attempt to explain things he thought I shouldn't be doing, I received email copies of threads from someone who was registered over there.

It always stuns me and I would think I'd be immune to it now when I see people that have really benefited from this site throw temper tantrums, cause unsuspecting other posters to "take sides" and then leave in a huff only to return at some future time and stir up more poop. And somehow it seems worse when it's aimed at paw.
