I heard some study recently that deduced more down time in football , than baseball-but it's a matter of perception.

If constant 'action' is the criteria, soccer should be the USA's #1 sport .

I do prefer being at a baseball game, over watching it on TV. Part of the problem is the camera showing nothing but the pitcher and batter until the ball is hit.

I don't really care, but since there are so few of us here, I decided to not just let it go without comment.

the World Series is the World Series, no matter who's in it- ah forget it.... we all watch what we want to watch, and like Yogi says, if the people aren't coming, you can't stop them.

The Rangers and Giants earned it. They deserve to go. The Yankees played the last month like they didn't care, so they deserve NOT to go. Last year they played like they cared (even Arod)-this year was different, and so it goes.

This may be a terrific series ( of course, you never know ). I haven't decided who to get behind. I usually go AL, but there's something about these Giants overachievers, that I like. It's a fire that the Dodgers never seem to be able to ignite. Maybe I'll just sit back and go with may the best team win, and enjoy whatever happens.

I've rooted Yankees since I was 5, but have always liked the Twins, and wouldn't mind seeing the Rangers make it for the first time, so I'll be easy to please.

If I had to pick a NL preference, I guess it's the Reds-I'm good with any of them.

I think I'm done getting emotionally worked up over sports. I enjoy them, but somehow seems less important as I grow old and feeble.

They've just come out with Boris Karloff's 'Thriller', the early 60's TV show on DVD. I remember liking this show, but only caught a few of them, as they've not been rerun very often.

I'm pleased to say the show holds up amazingly well. Like most anthology series, there are gems and clunkers, but episodes like "Pigeons From Hell", and "the Hungry Glass" (with a pre Kirk William Shatner), are terrific. I ordered mine off Amazon, and you could find worse ways to spend your money.

I'm out of ideas right now, and too busy to post a new one. Sorry about that-I'll quit guessing , unless I'm prepared to post new clues. Someone else make it so, please.

I was brought up in the Methodist church, where it's often not clear what they believe. I do remember I was always taught that Jesus was the SON of God, not God, Himself, and that the Trinity was what 'the Catholics' believed. Yet they always sang the'doxology' , which praised Father, Son, and Holy Ghost', but don't ask me to explain it.

Still, based on that questionaire, the Methodist church fails the cult acid-test.

I'm feeling off this year , too, and not sure why. The Dodgers are a MESS, but that doesn't usually affect me. The Yankees could be headed to the series again, which doesn't bother me. As is the norm here,if the Bosox aren't winning, it's quiet.

But it's more than all that this year, and I don't know why. I've been to about 25% of the games I usually get to. Maybe I am getting old. Or just crazy busy, and tired. I don't know , but it's SOMETHING.

Of course one can be critical of King. Abraham Lincoln was flawed also, which makes for interesting reading, but doesn't negate his accomplishments.

Whether you love him or hate him, there's no question that MLK was the key figure and spokesman for civil rights in his day, and that the world was changed as a result of his life-and death.

He wasn't killed because he plagiarized, or had affairs,or was as flawed as the rest of us. Ask any black person, or many of any race, what they think of King, and the debate of his impact on history is settled.

King is a hero to millions of people, who has and will , stand the test of time. Wierwille is a.....never mind.

I moved at least 12 times between '76-'87. The no debt policy wasn't the law then, but I knew few in the way who could even dream of owning a house, while working minimum wage jobs. It was a life style of finding myself in 'way home' type situations, that would change with every ROA, unless I got thrown out before then. I'm still amazed that I've been able to cobble together a career, and buy a home after wasting most of my 20's and 30's.

Among the reasons baseball isn't winning me over this year.

Manny's last act as a Dodger. Pinch hitting with the bases loaded, he gets himself thrown out of the game after disputing the first pitch. Manny isn't bothered by a lot of things in life, but he sure cared about whether that first pitch was a ball or strike.

I'm sure he'll love the White Sox for a month, and hit like crazy. I'm ashamed for ever buying into this guy when he came over.

It's downright surreal having the Yanks at Dodger Stadium , and it's not the world series. Based on the Dodgers record against the AL, interleague play can't end soon enough.

For those interested (meaning Mstar), the Baseball Reliquary, Shrine of the Eternal inductees for this year, are Casey Stengal, Pete Rose, and Roger Angell. A pretty illustrious group, and high time Casey got in. That's like the Hall of Fame without Babe Ruth.

I've been so busy that I forgot to vote this year, though Casey would have been on my ballot. I'm curious who will speak for him at the ceremony, and what the odds are of Pete showing up. Jim Bouton did the year he was inducted, so who knows ? I'd like to hear Roger Angell, also, a fine baseball writer, though I'm not quite sure how he beat out other contenders.

The 'fun' was going over the answers with whoever was giving it. I felt like a 'dunce' and was treated like I was 5 years old for spacing on the Bible being our ONLY reference for faith and practice.

I learned over time, that anything a leader over you said carried as much authority as the Bible, anyway.

That's David Cr*ley, all right. I ran into him in San Diego after he left the way, about 20 years ago. He was into another religious guru, Morris Cerullo, I think-but that was a long time ago.

I found it curious (well, astonishing) that he fell into another off beat cult like religion so readily, but whatever gets you through the day.

I remember reading the 'The Hope of Glory' during the ROA one year. Very honest book, about a difficult subject. I thought the ending odd even then, though. He envisions a future setting where thousands of Way believers congregate in a seaside amphitheater. A tall ship sails up, and Wierwille is standing on the bow of the ship, many years older, but still healthy, fit, and vibrant, wearing a 'captain's cap. Didn't quite work out that way.
