  1. darn it-how can I NOT say I know this show-I even remember Bob Cummings leaving the show before the end of the season (supposedly because he and Julie didn't get along ) and my favorite 60's second banana Jack Mullaney taking the lead. Of course the only reason to watch was Julie Newmar. But I 'll let someone else name the show.
  2. I'm really jammed-someone else take it please
  3. I'm thinking this is too obscure so I'll reveal it's 'the Headmaster', from 1970. Andy played the head of a private school and the world tuned out.
  4. a clue like what Andy Griffith did on the show would be revealing the title. He had high hopes for this getting him out of the Sheriff of Mayberry rut-but it just didn't catch on- actually Matlock was funnier.
  5. ok-in between his Mayberry and Matlock, Andy Griffith starred in this one season bomb-I recall seeing it, and thinking adding Don Knotts would help.
  6. I was stupid ok-in my original clue I referred to Pete Duel as a future western star who killed himself-I somehow missed the bold type, and assumed george was commenting on the topic I brought up-it didn't occur to me to name the show. I take full responsibility for the communication meltdown-I just don't know whos' turn it is now.
  7. I didn't know that was part of the game, since I had just referred to Pete Duel killing himself in the previous post, so of course knew about Alias Smith and Jones. sorry I was confused.
  8. yeah-Roger Davis seemed like 'Pete Duel lite', just like Dick Sargeant seemed like 'Dick York lite' when he became the second Darrin.
  9. that means I'm next and I'm tapped-here's a desperation clue- future laugh in star and future western star who kills himself find love in an apt in NYC.
  10. And... if anyone dared talk about the abuses and atrocities, THEY were the problem -speaking evil of 'leadership' was the ultimate crime in the way. Incredible how they managed to enforce that for so long.
  11. that sounds like aBeverly Hillbillies quote if I ever heard one
  12. close enough George-you described the show- it was called 'Hank', but I say you got it.
  13. another one season wonder that I hope isn't too obscure. The star can't afford college, so he crashes classes in order to get an education. How that will help without a diploma I never understood.
  14. it was Mr Terrific and Captain Nice.
  15. I think no one is going to get this-I don't want to short circuit the game again, as I do so often, so I'll reveal it was a show called 'Broadside' around 1964. Kathy Nolan from Real McCoys, and Sheila James from Dobie Gillis played WW11 Waves on a south sea island, along with Dick Srageant (Darrin 11) takit anyone.
  16. it was-but not this show- oh yeah-the second Darrin was also part of the cast of this one season wonder.
  17. Kate McCoy and Zelda Gilroy join the Waves and become a female McHales Navy.
  18. that would be Wonder Woman-one show set in the 40's-Lyle Waggoner played Steve Trevor and his son in the series set in the 70's.
  19. it was Naked City-every episode ended with the narrator saying 'there are eight million stories in the naked city-this was one of them'
  20. all I know about this show is that there are 8 million stories, and this is one of them.
  21. gotta be Get Smart, since 99 and the Chief were nameless
  22. "He never got a dinner " is the phrase that Red Buttons was known by. He said that so often about himself , referring to career respect, that it eventually became forever tied to him. I thought that was the give away clue. That you deduced the show without it is doubly impressive.
  23. here's a one season wonder from the 60's-the star never got a dinner, but he did become a secret agent.
  24. I know this-but every time I go next I shut the game down for weeks. I didn't think I was older than everyone here- maybe my memory is stuck in the cold war. anyway-it's Mary Tyler Moore Show-Ted Knight and Jack Cassidy did look like brothers.
