  1. Bang on, Rejoice!! Thanks so much! I have gotten a response from Ted now and hope to get the info I've been looking for! Yay!!! :-}
  2. The above e-mail comes back as invalid. Is it outdated or written incorrectly?
  3. Yes, and several "Ken Sudduths" came back in the search. I messaged a few Friday but none have responded yet. I may just have to go with the info I have on the music, give the credits, and hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. Uf da, no search engine and not in alphabetical order! This is going to be rough! :-)
  5. Any Rochester Minnesota ex or current Wayfers. At one time, we had a great group of people there who really were tight and loved God and people. Earl and I were best buddies for several years and had a falling out that I was mostly to blame for. I'd like to see if I could repair that. Keith Gardner Atlanta, GA area
  6. I'm still trying to get in touch with Helen to see if she was the one who wrote those songs. If anyone has any contact info, I'd appreciate it. I e-mailed Ted using the above address but, I don't think he monitors it any more. Please let me know. Keith Gardner 457 Grove Park Dr Locust Grove, GA 30248 pausonne@bellsouth.net Update: the address above for Ted comes back as no good any more.
  7. Hey, Ted, if you get back on here and see this, could you contact me either here on this thread or by e-mail? I've been trying and trying to get in touch with Helen Parker Sudduth or, if she is not the correct one, find out who wrote two songs that are favorites of mine - "Reason To Be Breathing" and "Right Now." I've done some big band arrangements of them and want to be able to give proper credit to whoever wrote them plus find out who currently holds copyright so I can get the correct permissions to record them. Thanks! Keith Gardner Atlanta, GA area pausonne@bellsouth.net PS Lots of folks have given me addresses to try but they have all come back as invalid. Sooooo.......But if you have one don't hesitate to send it to me even if you think someone may have already sent it.....
  8. "Possibly moot now, but I met Cliff Adelman not quite 2 years ago. He gave me this... cliff@adelman.com - He repairs instruments now so it might be a business, but if it's still good you should be able to contact him." Well, "Sam-I-am" whoops "john-I-am" Hahaha, that address for Cliff came back as not valid any more. Thanks for the effort, though, I do appreciate it. I'll still keep looking. I have already decided to record the music for my own use and the use of the band I play in but, obviously I can't yet for any kind of commercial use. Hope to be able to contact someone soon with all the right info! God bless all of you for your thoughts and advice.
  9. Wow, thanks for the recent replies and recommendations! I'll definitely give all them a shot. I used to be on facebook months ago but....I don't know...it just got to be really superficial and I closed my page. Maybe I'll have to go back and just use it to keep up with a few folks I really miss.
  10. Thanks, "Broken Arrow," for your condolences. The thing I really have a concern with, however, is how my brother will do after working so long with TWI and being so close to retirement age. I know TWI isn't famous for its...uh...generosity.....
  11. Anyone hear of a big band gospel singer named Dave Boyer? He was big with the Billy Graham ministries during the 70s and 80s, if I recall the dates correctly. He and a big band writer and arranger named Ralph Carmichael revolutionized the medium big time but sadly, it didn't carry on much beyond them. Carmichael also wrote for such big names as Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich, and others. Sandi Patti and some of her genre sort of continued it but beyond that, much of contemporary gospel went back to country style or devolved to the "praise and worship" or the current stuff that, IMHO, is mostly drivel. I play trombone and have been a professional for all my adult life, playing in the Navy Band for 21 years and in other bands around the country. I'm recently trying to get back into arranging and, hopefully, to start writing some of my own original stuff. I've been doing a ton of mental readjustment since leaving TWI 12 years ago, trying to get my heart and mind back in line with God and with Christ, using music has been a part of that and a big help. Sadly, though, as I said, so much of contemporary gospel is too maudlin or trite to me. I hope, even at my age, that I might be able to make some small contribution to the music market. Ted mentioned the 7-11 approach to music, I think that is an appropriate analysis even for contemporary gospel and, quite frankly, for most of modern popular music in general. PS If I put this in a wrong thread for the purposes of this discussion, sorry 'bout that!
  12. Well, I guess perhaps that e-mail for Ted is old and/or he no longer monitors it. Anyone have any different contacts that might help? I've tried to contact Brian Bliss at servant-leader@aol, I think was the address I was given and that got no response though it didn't come back as no good, I tried Dean Ellenwood and he didn't know how to contact her, I tried Cliff Adelman but the address I had for him was no longer good. I really want to be able to use this music and to give proper credit but, I might not be able to unless I can find out who actually wrote them and who currently holds copyright. I may have to go "official" and try to find any applicable copyright laws under these circumstances.
  13. Thanks, "Watered Garden," I appreciate the thoughts. Glad we have the hope to look forward to!
  14. No, I was never corps but my brother Jeff and his wife were on staff at HQ for nearly 25 years. He worked in the computer department, among other things and Missy was in the Way Magazine department, I think. Recently she sang in "Singing Ladies of the Way." She just died of cancer here a month or so ago. In any case, thanks for the info, I may try that. My first attempt was Dean Ellenwood who didn't know for sure where she lived. So, I'll keep trying. God bless!!
  15. I haven't had the chance to dig through all the posts on here so I hope I'm not starting a duplicate of something else but, does anyone know how I might contact Helen Parker Sudduth? I understand she was the one who wrote a couple of my favorite songs from the days of Joyful Noise, "Reason To Be Breathing" and "Right Now" and I have done big band arrangements of both of them and I want to be sure and give proper credit. I checked Cortright Fellowship's pages but that e-mail on there isn't any good now. Hope someone can help me out here! My name is Keith Gardner, and I live in Georgia, just for anyone who might be concerned. If someone knows how to contact her but doesn't want to post her e-mail on an open site, please forward mine to her. pausonne@bellsouth.net Thanks and God bless
  16. Thanks, Nick, I hadn't thought about the library since it was a base paper but, the base library might just have a copy. Hope nobody took the octopus as some kind of bad omen!! LOL
  17. Yes, I understand and sympathize with the skepticism and disbelief. I have been digging to see if I could indeed find the article myself. But, given that this was over 15 years ago, I don't rightly know how far back the paper keeps those copies. The paper was the on base paper for Naval Base Norfolk, available for anyone to purchase who lived in the area, military or not, but was not like the big commercial newspaper, so it is easy to see why it turned up no internet hits. I never saw the article about the pope trying to communicate with aliens! Where was that! I would love to have read it! LOL So.......proof? If I can find the article again. Was there such an article, yes, there was but, hey.....we can't prove everything!
  18. Hey, All! It's been a few years since I last checked in to see what was going on and I don't recall if this particular topic had been mentioned back then or not but I saw the rather sarcastic mention of this episode of Martindale's from back, oh, in the early 90s I think it was. From reading some of the most recent posts and discussions, I know there are still many folks who seem to go into screaming heebie-jeebies if they ever see Martindale's name mentioned in a non-negative context and I am sorry that so much pain was brought about by one man. But, whatever else he may have been, he was absolutely correct on this issue. I know because I was the one who sent him the article he referenced. My name is Keith Gardner, I have been free of TWI since 2000 and had spent about 25 years with them at that point. Sadly, my brother still works at HQ and my sister in law sings in the Singing Ladies. So, I'm not a plant shilling for Martindale. :) I am retired Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA in the 90s. I can't recall exactly when it was I saw the article but it was printed in a local base newspaper that the Hampton Roads ship yard, one of the largest ship building outfits in that area, had been approached by representatives of the Vatican to find out about building a small aircraft carrier. I vividly recall thinking to myself, "What the hell does the Vatican need with an aircraft carrier?!" The article stated that the reps were concerned about the safety of the Pope when traveling abroad! The article was a small one on the second or third page of the paper and I never saw anything after that on the subject but, it was indeed there and it did happen. What's the point of bringing up something so far back, you may ask? I don't know, maybe catharsis. Same reason everyone else comes here to vent, I guess. But also, anyone even modestly acquainted with the history of the Roman church knows it has been working since the Reformation to bring the rest of the world back under its control. So, what's to stop them continuing to try? It has nearly done that to the current EU working, once again, through its proxy, the Germans. So, again, whatever else Martindale may have been, I can only say I think he was pretty right on to see if there was any further information on that particular incident. I would surely want to know if the Vatican were up to something like that! Well, hello to anyone out there who I may know or who knows me! I recall hearing from some people who knew my brother or had worked with my sister in law. If you are still on here occasionally, hello to you!
  19. Boy, did I get some help here. I, too, am being treated for depression and have been off and on since 1986 after my first wife left me and took my children. It can be treated with drugs but I definitely see masterherbalist's comments about "the whole body being one." While bad chemical balance can be a cause, bad thoughts, can, too, cause depression. Continued negative thoughts will affect body chemistry just as surely as any medication. If you continue the bad thoughts, the medication may temporarily fix the problem but ONLY temporarily. I still have lots to overcome in my thinking so I still need the help of the medication.
