  1. She had an office behind the AV shop in the OSC building in the early 80's. Also had a helper named Denise.

I'd like to say hi and know how she's been all these years.

Jim - who worked in the AV shop

  2. I'm not a dog expert, but I have lived with them most of my life. 11 years old could be old for a dog or not. Bigger dogs tend to age faster than little ones. My terrier is coming up on 13 and has aged into the best-behaved little guy you'd ever want.

I'd suggest a vist to the vet. A good vet (which is sometimes hard to find and is usually synonymous with an old vet) can tell you a lot about what's going on. Make sure you're feeding on a regular schedule and not too much. Kibble dampened with water is best.

  3. Pat - Do you live in a large city or a small town? The reason I ask is that I used to live in a large urban area and I'm sure the full moon had an effect on people. I asked a cop about it once and he thought so too.

I've since moved to a relatively small town and now I enjoy the full moon without feeling the craziness.

  4. quote:
One must always remember you are dealing with a corporation and as such they will always end up playing it just the way their attornies tell them to.

Only the corrupt corporations. I'm the president of the corporation that I founded and no one will get away with lying. Not even the sales and marketing people. You don't have to be corrupt to stay in business or to prosper.

  5. Where was it? I've pulled drunks out of the gutter and taken them home. I've driven a couple of complete strangers to the hospital. I'm no saint and I didn't do it for rewards in heaven. I did it because it's what decent human beings do.

How is it that TWI leadership can ignore such basic principles of living and humanity and treat "family" so badly that they are moved to take their own life?

  6. I loved it.

Robin Williams plays a lonely and twisted manager of a 1 hour photo department in a discount store. Without friends and family and disliked by his boss, he adopts himself into the family of one of his customers.

Creepy but good. I'm glad I'm out of TWI so I can enjoy this stuff again.

  8. An incredible movie. And a tribute to the dark genius of the late Philip K. Dick, the author of the story the movie is based on.

About halfway through it I'm thinking that this is the first SF movie that rivals Blade Runner, arguably the best SF movie ever made. And they are both based on Dick stories.

  9. These days, at least for the long-haul part of the path, most of the internet is fiber optic and probably not susceptable to solar flares. That's not to say that the "last mile" might not be susceptable. On the other hand, it's a well kept secret that the SDRAM in PC's is susceptable to cosmic rays. I saw a study a few months ago about how A) servers have what was once regarded as vast quantities of memory, increasing the odds of hits and B) the feature size of the memory cells is smaller, further increasing the likelyhood of a cosmic ray disrupting the contents. The gist of the article is that there's a real need for error correction memory in servers.

I'm not an astrophyscist (and I can't even spell it) so I don't know if solar storms produce cosmic rays.
