Me too! I still like to watch Hogan's Heros if I'm up late at nite, can't sleep kinda thing...if I can find them somewhere.
I don't watch that much TV - so nobody would remember my least favorite...it was from the late '50's "Captain Video and his Video Rangers" - a pseudo sci-fi wannabe about space exploration. They used cardboard props.
This was in the days of live TV only! So if anybody made a boo boo and knocked one of the props, you could definitely tell it was cardboard...this was even in the days before plastic!
In 1954 we had the neighborhoods first TV and we were kinda poor! My dad built it from a Heath kit...and we even had a 12 inch screen! No magnifier for us! What a hoot, these memories are for me....probably boring for you...so I'll quit now!

This is, indeed, a dilemma! Do I express congratulatiions, or condolences!

knock! knock!

oh - - there you are! For a few minutes I thought you were sleeping!
I just popped in to let you know that I still care...even if the others fade away -- I'll never forget! not ever!
by the way - - Happy Bastille Day!

Zixar doesn't need anyone to vouch for him, but he is right on.
It is only the "enriched" uranium that you need to worry about. They take the ore and fiddle with it to make it work better as fuel in a nuclear reactor. What you have is safe.

a telephone cord which is ONLY for DSL?? If so where should I look for it...and can it be bought by the foot, etc....
Here's the situation:
I am ready to re-establish my DSL service. The service is turned on. I cannot establish a connection....using the DSL modem. The modem came with a short cord...one end into the wall and one end into the modem. Makes sense...BUT
The wall jack (in my new apartment) is maybe 35 feet from the computer..and I don't want to have another phone line installed...I'd like to use the jack in the other room...but I can't make a short cord do 35' of work! (I'm good, but not THAT good) When I tried using a regular phone cord extension length, the modem could not establish a connection to the network.
(I hope this makes sense to you techno-geeks! I'd explaining the best I know how....except if I left something out...one of you will help me and ask....)

Way cool Zixar! Thanks for that thoughtful explanation. I actually understood it - -no joke - it is the first time in my life that interrelated stuff made sense!
IMO, you are a gifted teacher!

I don't remember enough physics to explain it completely...but the solar flares do effect the earth's magnetosphere (the earth has a magnetic field).
Magnitism is intimately connected with electricity - so I understand that there is a connecton.
Solar flares also affect the aurora borealis, I understand it increases the effect.
There is such a thing as "solar wind". It is waves of streaming particles. They are increased by solar flares...and have been blamed for some of our satellites falling from orbit...(it takes a very long time).
Now if Zixar were here...he could explain it better and probably would find a few web sites that would even have diagrams and pictures!

Hopeful, I'm so glad. Rejoicing too..........

How appropriate that this does not fit on the puter screen.
It is THE-sized...just right...just big enough for a deity!
Happy Saturday!

Thank you firebe!

Indeed Kit. All the fires in our West, and elsewhere are tragic.
Those large ones in Arizona must come under control!

Dear God:

So do we believe in miracles, ex10 otherwise I don't think we'd frequent this particular forum.
Thanks for the info. Even that much is good..it helps me anyway. Take it easy with the rest of the kids today. You probably have the toughest task right at the moment - - most of the time adults in bad situations will be able to listento reason and act accordingly, but children don't know how yet.
-
I've got JT, the doctors, nurses and hospital staff, you and all the children convered! Did I miss something?

You said "where 2 or more agree" Well, now there's at least 4 of us!

gladly!

Of course the workman is worthy of his hire! The guy I'm talking about knocked off 50%.
Do what you think best. Suggestions are just that...and sometimes they aren't worth the paper they're written on

Hey! Now I remember!
I beta tested a software program for a teacher's gradebook and classroom management software developer. I did eventually pay a small price for it, but that's not the point.
Now that lots of folks spend time in chatrooms, maybe we can beta test it if you feel like developing this into something more than what it is now. There is nothing wrong with developing another good source of revenue...and maybe this could work.
Of course, if you don't feel like playing around with it anymore, that's a horse of a different color!

Corporate Memorandum
To: All Staff
Subject: Special High Intensity Training
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In order to assure the highest levels of quality work and productivity from employees, it will be our policy to keep all employees well trained through our program of Special High Intensity Training (****). We are trying to give employees more **** than anyone else.
If you feel that you do not receive your share of **** on the job, please see your manager. You will be immediately placed at the top of the **** list, and our managers are especially skilled at seeing that you get all the **** you can handle.
Employees who do not take their **** will be placed in Departmental Employee Evaluation Programs (DEEPdang) Those who fail to take DEEPdang seriously will have to go to Employee Attitude Training (EATdang).
Since our managers took **** before they were promoted, they do not have to do **** anymore, as they are all full of **** already.
If you are full of ****, you may be interested in a job training others. We can add your name to our Basic Understanding Lecture List (....) Those who are full of .... will get the **** jobs, and can apply for promotion to Director of Intensity Programming (DIPdang)
If you have further questions, please direct them to our Head Of Training, Special High Intensity Training (HOTdang)
Thank you,
Boss in General

I've followed some of MH's suggestions over the past several months...notice the "some". I'm making small changes here and there, working up to a better lifestyle as I get more convinced. It's not easy to change everything at once unless you want to go into shock (minor tee hee). I happen to be fortunate in not needing the "incurables" drastic approach at the moment.
In the research and reading that I've done...I found that there is no one basic "diet" plan that will suit us all! For instance, some of us can maintain optimal health with some meat in the diet and others's can't. Some need certain supplementations for liver, kidney and other problems. MH may be able to provide a basic core or framework of a plan, but I think we'd best be our own best advocates here as in working with doctors if and when necessary! I think it would be unfair to expect a "one-size-fits-all" plan.
Some diet changes are easier than others and we should not expect it to be easy to change certain habits after 30 or 40 years of mismanagement!
The hardest thing for me to change so far was an exercise plan. I am not a "physical" person. I've had to force myself, and still do most days. I live in an environment such that a long walk outside will do as much harm as good, breathing in the bus and truck vapors! Home exercise equipment isn't in the budget and neither is joining a gym! BUT:
I do happen to own a metronome. I set it and "march in place" when I watch the news, you'd be surprised to see how much you've sweated by the times they do the sports and weather! Yes - I look pretty stupid doing this, but nobody's here taking pictures!
I also happen to have a flight of stairs. So I started walking them, down and then up = 1 round trip. I started making 3 round trips twice/day. That was really tough! But now I'm up to 5 trips twice/day and my legs still shout near the end...but I've built up to that.
There are things in an overall program which I have not started yet, but I think I will get there eventually.
My point is, that if MH can supply a core program, we will still have to do the work in adapting it to our own needs, and we may have to be creative in implementing some of it. You also have to be very honest with yourself as to what degree you are willing to commit to these things!
My results? In the past 5 or 6 months since I've started some of these changes I have been able to reduce every medication prescribed for me (except for arthritis) by about half! One I even eliminated (for blood pressure). I generally sleep better, but still want and enjoy short afternoon naps. My skin is clearer, as are my eyes. I'm better able to concentrate on mental tasks, but I have not lost much weight (only about 5 lbs). I feel a little stronger physically and have more endurance, but not nearly to the point where I would like to be. I do still have to deal with some arthritis, however. I would like to lose at least another 20 pounds.
I guess it takes time. It took me over 30 years to get in this state, I guess I should allow more than 5 or 6 months of an introductory "program" to get out of it! I'm working on it, and every step forward for me is both a challenge and a victory! In my case, the biggest battle is between my ears".
