A priest and a rabbi were the only clergymen in a small town. The priest had a large wealthy congregation which provided him with a late model car for his transportation. The rabbi had a small congregation, and it was rather poor, so the rabbi use a bicycle.

Both men realized that between them, they cooridinated the spiritual welfare of the townsfolk, so they met every Tuesday (alternating at each other's homes) for lunch and planned their events.

One week the rabbi failed to show up. The preist ate alone, then got busy and forgot his friend the rabbi hadn't shown. The following Tuesday, the priest arrives at the rabbi's and then remembers the broken luncheon appointment and asked what happened. The rabbi stated that he couldn't travel that far to the priest's on foot, and he had no bicycle, it appeared that somebody had stolen his bicycle.

Over lunch that day they schemed that each should preach in his respective house of worship on the 10 Commandments, expecting that when they got to "thou shalt not steal" the offender would return the bicycle.

The following week the rabbi shows up right on time for lunch. The preist says, well, I guess our plan worked, you have your bicycle back.

The rabbi said - it worked, but not as we planned. When I got to the part "thou shalt not steal" nothing happened but when I got to "thoug shalt not committ adultery - - I remembered where I left it.

I started one, and invited Ginger just because that was the first name that entered my mind. So far she's not answered, so I am assuming that one must invite these participants, but I don't know how to do that since email addy's may not be present.

I clicked on Private Topics below, and the only one I saw was mine. Let's give it a little time and see if Ginger can mine and post in it. Then, I'll put some more names in my "contact list" and see what happens.

BTW it is an innane topic, just incase somebody can read it...when you set it up you can decide who can read it and who can post to it. Interesting little feature.

I am not starting this thread to be facetious. In fact most of you realize I hardly ever start threads at all! This is an exception.

Since you know so much (said in earnest awe and respect) about "stuff" especially planets and the stars, would you please try to explain this to me:

What do you think earth looks like from a point in space, say near Mars or maybe even Venus?

Would we twinkle? Would we have a color? I know Mars appears redish and Venus yellow kind of.

I really really wanna buy a tee shirt

I've always wanted a tee shirt....and I've been looking for a spot where they can be bought...but don't see one yet.

For what it is worth, I know Pawtucket has been approached more than once or twice about gifts or donations to make this all possible, and has, to my knowledge, always tastefully declined.

I there believe he really doesn't want $$ for any of this for his own personal reasons. If that is so, then I belive we just must accept his wishes here, even though we want to do something, out of our thanksgiving....etc. If for his own reasons Pawtucket doesn't want $$ is there something else we can give him??? dunno.

Perhaps each of us could make an annual or quaterly donation to one of our own favorite genuine charities, such as the Arthritis Foundation or some other thing..even a scholarship fund....made on his behalf, perhaps.

Didn't we learn somewhere - - "let each one give as he purposeth in his heart"? There are plenty of ways we can give out of joyful hearts, and it's still true - - what ever goes around....comes around!

OK here it goes. I ***need*** many prayers.

First of all there is my brothere-in-law that has just gone through detox for alcoholism. He is doing pretty good but needs a job so that he can keep busy.

Next there is my daughter who just had surgery this last friday. Everything seems to be going well and hopefully she is well on her way to total recovery.

Then there is my mom who is undergoing some tests tomorrow to make sure that she has not had a reoccurence of her cancer. She had colon cancer two years ago and she has been having other problems that might be linked to that.

Then there is my brother who is in the army. He is being shipped out to Korea next month for a year. His wife and two children will be staying in Alabama. I got to see him last week and we had a very nice visit but I am still worried about him.

On top of all of this my son just graduated from high school and in the last few days his college plans have changed drastically. I am sure that it is all for the better but it has been a little stressfull. Thanks all for your prayers. They are truly appreciated. nk

Think Positive Thoughts for Me

I had a very unusual health crisis on my last business trip.

I ended up in a wheelchair, I could not walk nor could I stand the pain (which I have a high tolerance for) in my legs and pelvic region and lower back. Not sciatic, for sure.

I was awaiting an appointment weeks away at Stanford for my left knee, injured about two years ago on a flight to MI. that occasionally bothered me.

I thought this was happening with me ~ obviously it could be something else on top of it.

I have to, right now, continue pain medication, and take a strong anti ~ inflammatory (good-bye ginger and herbal treatment for now, sniffles).

I will be homebound for this evaluation process, diagnosis, and time is essential ~ I have a wedding of my only child later this year!

I haven't told her yet, but I know if I could not make it, she would wait!

This is quite unusual for me ~ I will know soon, and am determined to get this straightened out ASAP

Please keep me in your thoughts as AHAT and EX are already ~

Thank goodness I have wonderful friends ~ I am not alone here for my needs, yet, I'm frightened by the symptomology ~ I feel selfish here, but, this lift list does rise above circumstances ~ the supernatural love in the hearts of all of you.

The first think I'm gonna pray for is that you can get that notion of "selfish" right outta your head! You "only" have serious pain, whereas somebody else had a blood clot or some other serious complication! Bolderdash! Nonsense! Your need is no less, and no greater, than another's.

Each of us is important to the Father...and each of us has diferent needs, all of which He considers - - and I don't think He weighs things according to our scales, dear Ginger!

I pick up specific referrals and appts. made through my Dr.s office on Monday afternoon ~

Seems the impression is to move quickly on some tests ~

Thank you for your hearts ~ My girl is coming to see me next month ~ and has decided next year would be better for the Hawaiian Wedding ~ with reception on return in NYC next year. She spoke with my Dr. on his opinions and why I'm being referred to different tests and specialists ~ and she did this on her own ~ so I have time to recover, get back to normal (don't laugh too hard) and not worry about her...How wonderful is this...My gift keeps giving back, I am humbled and appreciative and ever so fortunate ~ xoxoxoxoxo thanks everyone!

I'll let you know what unfolds...oh, and I can do many of my tinctures and teas ~ just certain herbs must be avoided due to contradictions with medications.

Hi ~

All my medicines are changed ~

except for pain reliever (very strong, I was loving those things in the 60's for the wrong reasons ~ they help a little now ~ so I hope to be off of them soon)

My knee is an minor issue, and must wait because an underlying problem is creating some havoc for me ~

Hopefully, I'll remain at home through the rest of the monitoring ~

I have been able ~ with insurance ~ to get home help for now ~ it will take a few days

My friends are around, yet trust me to know when I need them, that's a good thing ~ Trust ~ because I'm no baby, for sure...

Keep me in you thoughts as I will be ok

Sending positive thoughts and feeling to everyone ~ and a new candle ~

calming lavender with sandlewood, ylang-ylang and geranium

This candle lights from an antique pewter Cross standing on a base with beautiful artwork all about it (sort of universal artistry from Mexico) ~ I hope that makes you feel better ~ it's on top of the fireplace ~

Hi All , havn't been around much lately, but sure would appreciate any prayers that you may have for me. I seem to have another formation in my chest, not in my lung this time, but, near my heart. Docs aren't real sure what it is, but I have an appointment tuesday 14th of May with my surgeon who has consulted with my other doc, and we are going to come up with a plan to find out what this formation is.

Really would be thankful for any prayers.

Thanks for the prayers, they are really appreciated. Doc seems to think this formation/mass is possibly just fatty tissue, but given my history we want to rule out lymphnoma (sp) or any other cancer. So, when I go on vacation in july/aug I will have an appt set up to have pet scan either in Portland or Seattle, seeing as I wil be in the area. There is not a facility in Alaska that does this test.

Thanks again for all the prayers. I think of all here at greasespots so often and pray for your voices to be heard regularly.

If we had a spell checker and a preview screen editing posts would probably be unnecessary. Most of the time, if I edit something it's because of grammar or spelling or something like that...or I discover a different way of saying something and change a few words...usually within a few minutes of posting.

However:

If something posted reveals personal info, I think that should be edited for all the obvious reasons. It has happened to me....twice.

One time, a poster who knew me (intimatey at one time) made several references to times we had shared together and I asked this person to remove those references, because I held info the WayGB would have killed for. This poster understood the situation and did make changes. I was grateful.

Another time, I posted something that could have given a different 3rd party priviliged information, but I didn't realize it...it was one of those "great minds think alike" type things. I deleted some of my comments in deference to their wish/need.

Perhaps one approach could be to put the 60 minute time limit in, and allow some to appeal to you to edit out certain information. Of course, I know that you regularly do this, and remind others also, but just in case.....

We do need to be responsible and accountable for what we say, and I believe most of us are. However, sometimes things don't always work out as planned.
