Kit Sober
Click here: YouTube - Flying Silver Carp on Wabash River in Indiana One of my friends, no, change that to one of my close acquaintances, teases me about the back woodiness of Indiana. Well, on the Wabash River you don't see men out in hip boots using fancy fly rods to cast out to entice a fish to grab ahold. No. We just cruise down the river in our motor boat and let the fish fly into the boat. The fish are called flying carp, or more properly silver carp. Silver carp have become notorious for being easily frightened by boats and personal watercraft, which causes them to leap high into the air. The fish can jump up to 8–10 feet into the air, and numerous boaters have been injured by collisions with the fish. According to the EPA, "reported injuries include cuts from fins, black eyes, broken bones, back injuries, and concussions." Silver carp can grow to 100 pounds in mass.[ FISHING THE HARD WAY Fishing without a pole!!
