  1. The Andy Griffith show. Opie, Andy, Barney, Ernest T. Bass, Aunt Bee, Thelma Lou, Floyd, Gomer, Goober, Miss Crump, Otis, and the occasional visitor from "down in Mt. Pilot". I remember once that as a guest actor, and a very very bit part, Jack Nicholson showed up as some sort of a "misguided young man". But Barney set him straight..haha!! I love that show. My kids watch it with us from time to time, and they like it too..
  2. I have a question for any of you all. I asked it once before, but it must have been lost in the controversy: I read something or saw something on the boob tube about a vote in Massachusetts being "stalled" or of the vote on same sex marriage not happening when it should have, or somethin'. Obviously I am unclear on this and what it was about. Who stalled what vote? What was the detail of that vote? Anybody? I
  3. Oh, I'm sorry Mark. Forgive me for being too lax in reading that post. It was Abigali who had said that, so, to Abigail I should have directed that! :)-->
  4. Oh, and Mark, there is a "slight difference" between drinking some brews before legal age, smoking some weed, and being an elected mayor of one of the largest and most prestigious cities in the whole world! He was handing out legal documents to people who do not qualify for these legal documents. Huge difference!
  5. Hey mon, I live up here in Alaska. I remember the big "advertising" on both sides. It took money to get the word out for both interested parties; the "pro same sexers", and those opposed. There is not a thing wrong with either side doing that. But it wasn't "clever ads" by the "church people" who caused me or others to vote against it, it was simply that I learned of the proposition through the publicity which the gay rights people didn't want publicized. Then all I had to do was to vote my previously formed opinion on the matter as did the rest of the majority of Alaskans. I do remember how the gay crowd kicked and screamed over all of the publicity by those who wanted traditional marriage to mean a "man and a woman", and not this same sex thing. Oh yeah, all of those who were running adds to inform the voters of this proposition were called haters and homophobes because of the "hate publicity" and "hate speech" that they were spreading like a cancer, infecting peoples minds via the newspapers, radio stations and television stations. Shoot, there was no "infecting of my mind", I just needed to know what propositions were there to vote on or against! Even I was personally called a hater and a homophobe by a shipmate "straight/Leftie" on the day of the vote. Fact was, I screwed up and almost missed the chance to vote because I didn't do an absentee ballot back in this town of Haines, and hadn't expected to be at work on the ferry that week. And this guy laughed at me in a "ha-ha, nanny nanny boo boo" sort of a way because he knew that I didn't get to vote on the marriage proposition. And he called me a h-phobe/ hater and all of that rot. But, I actually got off the ship in Sitka and found that there was a precinct right next to the ferry terminal, and the only issues I was not allowed to vote on were local city of Sitka issues, or the issues back in Haines where I live because they weren't on the Sitka ballot. But all other State candidates and issues were opened to my vote, right there on a rural road 12 miles from rain soaked "Sitka By The Sea" as we like to call it. What a country, eh?! Oh boy oh boy! Was that guy pi$$ed when he saw my "I Voted, Have you"? sticker on the breast pocket of my coveralls! He actually thought I got it from somebody else, until someone else informed him that we had voted together at the precinct right next to the ferry terminal. And when the results became known the next day he called me a homophobe and a "hater" all over again. He was quite livid. I told him that at least he could be happy over the "medical marijuana" thing going his way.. So hey Treffor. Yous gotta problem with the public being informed as to what is on the docket? I sure hope not... [
  6. I don't think we Americans need to be worried about a Constitutional Ammendment (C.A.)proposed by the President. C.A.'s are very hard to pass. We can't even get a C.A. to pass to stop the burning of Old Glory. I have the same opinion as Bob Barr. Let the States vote on it. We voted on it here in Alaska a couple of years ago, and even though Alaska's gay community did everything they could to keep that proposition off of the ballot, Alaskans voted overwhelmingly for a Man and a Woman to be that which constitutes a legal marriage. Or however it is worded. Hey you all, I'm not really up on the latest in Massachusetts. I did read that a vote on this issue was "stalled". What does this mean? Who stalled it? Anybody know?
  7. Now, it seems as if a new can of worms has been opened here. I thought of starting a new thread on it, but it is opened up now. It is definitely in the context of this thread though GAY MARRIAGES IN SAN FRANCISCO this weekend The good people passed a proposition recently, saying as was stated above, that a marriage in the State of California shall be between a man and a woman. This vote was overwhelmingly approved by the states Voters. But now, the Mayor of the City of Sanfrancisco decides to flat out BREAK what has now become the LAW and perform marriages for gay couples. This is the gay community asking for and being given preferential treatment by a government authority. In my opinion, the Governator had every right to send in the cops and throw this mayor in jail. But of course, that wouldn't be to politically correct, now would it? No, this mayor wasn't just interpreting the Law incorrectly, which is a job that should be left to the Judicial branch of California government, he flat out broke the Law by handing out marriage certificates to Citizens who did not qualify un der California Law. "But it's ok, let's not be Intolerant about it, they are gay people and they have Rights". Extra Special rights. It is this very thing that makes me and others want to tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine! Let's thumb our nose at the Law, do what we want, no matter how the Majority votes!
  8. Ok MJ. And besides, I want to keep you on my good side, because I like pretty girls! And, well, Tom Strange, all of those other wives are only the wives of my alter ego, Jonny Lingo, haha!
  9. You really crack me up MJ! I don't think you are a hater either. But many times I do not understand you. Like right now. I am mystified as to why you are hacked off at me. When I said "You go girl!" I really meant it in a friendly way. So, if I have a hard time understanding what you are saying, would it be fair to comment on something that I do not understand? And, amazing as it may seem, I don't always have time to sit here and type away alla the time. Call me "henpecked" if you want, but sometimes it pi$$es off Mrs. Lingo when I am on the comp alla the time. I am a father of four and husband of one ya know... And furthermore, I have contributed plenty to this thread. And, I too love you MJ
  10. Treffor, Go to the top of the page, and you will see a little window that says "My space". Click on that, and then it will say something like "private topics" click on that, and there you will find my message...
  11. Trefor!! Aaaaggghhh!! :)--> That's four super long posts in a row! I can't take it any more! Really bro, I know that you want to post whole articles so that you won't seem to be taking something out of context, but I have a hard time wanting to read someting so long that someone else said as opposed to what you have have to... Really, I am not harassing you, it just makes it hard to want to read your posts... :)--> Peace...
  12. This is Mrs. Lingo, my Ten Cow Woman.. :)--> Hey, I want to know if any of you folks have tried the South Beach Diet? I am just starting it, but am looking for more details. It seems like a modified Atkins diet(which I did and thought it was fine.) South Beach concentrates on leaner cuts of meat, lots of vegetables etc. I haven't quite got the hang of it yet. It says it is "neither low carb, nor low fat", but kind of seems to be a little of both. I am also reading a lot about the glycemic index(how quickly carbs turn into sugar in your system) The problem with Atkins for me was that once I got tired of it, I found myself wanting to still eat the fat(heavy cream in my coffee, yum)but eating more carbs. Then the pounds pile on! Beware. Just remember you can't eat the carbs and the fat both, you will end up in trouble. I am not anti-Atkins, but am leery of the amount of nitrates and junk that I consumed on this diet when eating all the bacon, hot dogs, sandwich meat etc. Maybe I just did not get into the salad factor as well as you guys are. Anyway, I am looking for South Beach diet input.
  13. I can too, and so can my kids. My brothers daughters can also name each one of the States' logos. Utah, the beehive state, North Dakota, the Peace Garden State, etc...
  14. I can too. So can my kids, and my brothers daughters can tell us all of the different states' logos...
  15. Worked for me. I lost 47 pounds, and have kept it off. I have eaten way more "greens" than before I adopted the Atkins lifestyle. My joints feel way better as far as the usual tradesmans problems go (wrists, shoulders, etc), and I still enjoy complex carbohydrates, but just to a lesser degree. My wife and I have eased into the South Beach Diet lifestyle very recently which has more emphasis on fiber, but is still more of a protein based diet kind of a deal. But sugars are out, as well as cheap crappy carbs like enriched wheat bread (dead bread), and other enriched foods, and, we just live abundantly!
  16. Yup, Oregon. We were like peas in a pod. We shared some awesome times to be sure. I don't think I want to contact him now. If and when I hear he is "out" I will get with him.
  17. Wow Zixar, That's about as logical an argument as I have seen as far as opposition to same sex marriage is concerned. One of many good arguments, but perhaps the best reason of all. I started this thread, and I brought up a point that I thought should be a concern, in my first post. I brought it up a couple of more times, but only a few thought it as something to be concerned about, and maybe it's not such a big deal. But by what you have just said here, I see all the more reason to be against this whole thing. I have a wife and four kids, and I am thankful for the tax exemptions I get for my marital status and my kids. And now, I thank all of you single people out there who carry an extra tax burdin in order to help perpetuate our society with educated and responsible kids who will grow up and carry theball when we all be "geezin". I pray to God daily that my wife and I are doing a good enough job as a parents. Hope we don't let all of you "single extra tax paying Citizens" down...
  18. That's a good question Mosh. I don't know the answer to it. And Tom, thank bro..I'll try to be nicer. I'm not that much of a cave man when it comes to how I deal with all kinds of people in everyday life. But I do have my views I spose...
  19. Well Tom I'm sorry if I seem this way. I have enjoyed your laid back posts, and your humor too. It's just that well, I have posted here before under another name, and taken the very laid back tolerant politically correct attitude, and I swear, everybody loved me! And I'm not kidding. But when I decide to post my true feelings, then I am "hater", or a "homophobe". Yet, if you will look at a number of my other posts, you will see that I mentioned that I had worked with some gay chicks aboard ship, and had gotten along with them quite well, and that even one of them was a very good friend! I stated that I believe that gay people should be treated with the love of God and that because of this age of grace, Levitical solutions are OUT and that the sin of "homoness" or whatever the hell we should call it is really the same as "drinkin too much, bein a mean and ornery sumbitch, or when you are married, boinkin some other woman or a married woman" is not right and is the same sin, but that we are to "walk in love" but not put a stamp of approval on something that God says is wrong. No hate here. But no one seems to take note of that. Even though I disagree with the lifestyle, I cannot agree with it because of what the Scripture says. I bring up Leviticus, not to say that "we should kill all fags" or whatever, but rather to illustrate to Mark and Avoid that he is not in "Bad Company" for having a negative attitude toward homosexuals, because at the very leat, God's attitude towards it is negative too. But instead of people seeing the purpose of my bringing up that verse of scripture, which I carefully stated, I am seen as a hater or a homophobe. And so, f***** it, I give up... :)--> [This message was edited by Jonny Lingo on February 12, 2004 at 17:08.]
  20. Hey there JZFKY, I was just offering up a different nickname than homos because some one else asked about it, that's all. God calls 'em "sodomites". Would that be better? You might say; "How 'bout just plain old "people?", but that may not be in keeping to their own reference to themselves as "queers" or gays". They seem to want the recognition...
