I saw MANY people at HQ do Body for Life. To me, it seems to be a very hard program to follow--strict food regulation and extremely strenuous workouts. The only people I really saw have the kind of results that they show on the book is people who were generally already in shape, not overweight. They just built muscle and looked better. I remember one woman who is really tall and overweight who lost a lot of weight on it, but still did not receive the pictured results. She followed the diet and workout regime to a "T". Then there was someone else who really didn't have to lose much weight (maybe 10 pounds). She lost weight but did not really look much different. I came to the opinion that sometimes your body is just a certain way. Not everybody will have that cut look like the examples on the pictures unless less they have some help from sterioids--my opinion. I saw a man who did the program also. He needed to lose some weight. He did, but still didn't have the cut look like in the pictures.

Mandii, this is the BEST explanation I have heard regarding a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus. I have been constirnating about this for quite some time. I know Jesus has a more active role in the Body since he's the Head. It was so hard to figure it out since twi made him absent. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Anything else you can share would be greatly appreciated!!

My thinking is that when we go from one extremely to the next, we find the balance. I think it's perfectly normal and OK. You will probably get tired of the unproductive stuff and go back toward the middle. And only you can be the judge of how much time that takes for you. ;)--> You don't have any religious hypocrites telling you how to live your life anymore--thank God!!

My friend, Millie Tavares, was in the 17th Corps until lcm declared his "stand with me or leave" crap. Anybody know where she is? I last talked to her when she was married (probably still is) and in Orlando, Florida, around 1993.

They are brother and sister, and they are a lot of fun!!! They were both on staff when I was, and I always enjoyed being around them. She left staff about 1 1/2 years ago. Last I heard she was in Massachusetts. I heard he was going there too. If anybody knows how to get in touch with them, let me know.

I've had a lot of resentment against certain people in twi. I wanted to get over this and mov eon. A definition of resentment someone gave to me today from their AA meeting is: Resentment is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. Whoa. I'm not going to drink that poison anymore.

One of the things I notice about myself since leaving is that it is hard for me to say sorry or apologize. I hate this about myself, and I especially hated it while still in. I learned this from the best of the best corps. Even when they were wrong, they never apologized. They always found a reason to skirt around it and still make the other person look weak or foolish. I'm really trying to take notice to this in myself and change it.

Anything else somebody can contribute that helped you be better since leaving would be greatly appreciated.

ps--yes other people would turn you in (reprove you) for not following the dining room rules. It got pretty religious and legalistic even in the dining room.

Absolutely NOT! They don't allow you to bring your own items to the table. It is considered rude to do so. My opinion is WHATEVER!!! --> It's all part of the nazi dictatorship. The food services coord said it was donna martindale who suggested that they put veggie salt, cayenne pepper, and kelp on the tables. I'm wondering why she thought she was so knowledgeable to determine what the people WANTED. Gee whiz; when the darn trustees have regular white salt and black pepper on their table, you'd think the rest of the masses would get it too. I guess they aren't privileged enough. whatever.......... Glad I don't put up with it anymore.

At HQ it was vegetable salt, cayenne pepper, and salt. No regular white salt or regular black pepper was to be found-----except at the trustee table. Figures. I hated that!!

I am more tolerant of other people's opinions, beliefs, and decisions. I consider myself growing.

Although I am changing, I find it hard to find a church to go to. I am so darn critical. I want one who belives in SIT, ye is not a holy roller, yet who is a Bible believing church.

I went online to find one through a search in my area. I found one that was "gently charismatic". I thought "Oh, great." I called and found it was episcopalian--basically catholic, not much Bible. Oh well, I'll keep searching. Maybe I'll change some more in the mean time. ;)-->

When I left, she just graduated from the Corps with an assignment to HQ in Switchboard. If you call, maybe she will answer the phone. They usually say who they are when they answer the phone. This was almost 2 years ago, so anything could have happened between then and now.

So far, Mike hasn't shared anything that would convince me that PFAL is God-breathed. He hasn't convinced me that mastering PFAL would benefit my life. I did the PFAL thing for many years. She is from Tennessee. She was a Way Disciple in Chicago, and on Staff after WD. I was on Staff with her, and someone told me at the acs that she left.

I know she went back to Tennessee about 1999 or 2000 after being on Staff. I tried to look her up on the internet to no avail.

Here's an example of the immunity to lies and crap. When the tape was played of lcm's admission of an "affair", I cried because I thought it was going to be the fog years all over again. What a dummy; my reaction now is that I'd like to kick him where it hurts. He is a big disappointment; but I'm even madder at myself that I even supported a MAN.

I think I'm a perfect example of the threshold level. I had a very high threshold to twi's bs. My sister asked me why I was so loyal to a fault. That hit me hard, but I needed to hear it. If a wayfer really wants to see things get better, they will wait it out. I was this way even though I was extremely po'd by things I had seen. When I received information that helped me to make my exit, it was like a final blow for me. It proved the dishonesty of the bod. I know a lot of innies who feel the bod is dishonest, but they have a reverance to the ministry and keeping it together. Some don't even know about vp's crap. Sometimes people hear so much bad stuff, they become immune to it. It's sad, but true--IMHO. That's when I realized I needed to get "F" out, when I became immune to the bad treatment I saw happening.

Oldies I agree that these issues should be mandatory for twi except I don't believe anyone should have the right to tell anyone to marry or divorce anyone. It is their decision whether they will do it or not and their decision on the timeframe they choose to make a decision. I do believe however, that Donna should not be allowed to stay at HQ and live off the ABS.

The other things Oldies mentioned are great ones. As a matter of fact when Rosie was installed, I thought I remembered lcm saying that they were considering that bot level is not going to be considered a life-time position. At the time I thought he was bringing it up so he could have an excuse to be lazy and "retire." Anyway, he left and nothing ever became of that. It probably won't. IMHO--something like this may (or may not)keep crap like lcm from coming in. It would at least keep it from staying--like Bill Clinton. (The Bill Clinton thing is not meant to offend, just my humble opinion ;)-->)

One other important issue that needs to be addressed is anyting that invoves with people making their own decisions. Like how many times they attend fellowship, a class, or any thing else. Those kinds of things should not be mandated. People shouldn't get flack from that.

Another thing is ditch the "true household of God" bs. My gawd, the Word clearly says it is the Body of Christ!!! They need to stop separating themselves and see the big picture. People shouldn't be thrown out with the bathwater if they decide The Way is not for them.

While I was still in, we had a girl who came to fellowship. She loved being with us, but she was raised Jewish and didn't believe the things about Jesus and what he accomplished for us. The FC (nazi) basically shunned her. This girl still wanted to hang out and be friends. But because she didn't accept the doctrine, the fc kicked her to the curb. IMHO--this girl could still benefit from hanging out with us. She may have changed her mind. My gosh, this girl definitely wasn't out to change us. She truly liked us. That FC didn't give her a CHANCE (not opportunity). After all that happened, we saw the girl one more time because we had gone to Hollywood to see a production. This girl came because she had planned it previously and already paid for her tickets. The FC was a cold b-i-t-c-h to this poor girl.

I'm sad that I didn't keep up with this girl myself. I pray that I run in to her and show her what real friendship is--no matter what you believe. She really has a great heart. She made us all Christmas ornaments (she loved Christmas even though she's Jewish). She was so happy to be involved during Christmas. We had a coffee house, and she even read some stories there. She had only been coming to fellowship a few weeks. She really had a great heart to give.

In my observations and experiences of dealing with different leadership, they lie to cover up whatever they want without any sense of remorse. It's hard to confront people when they don't own up to their wrongdoings.

I used to eat with Rhoda W. all the time while at HQ. Since I never went on ex-way sites before leaving HQ, I never thought to ask her questions. I wonder if VP had her type from the books of those other men, or if he actually copied it down himself. That would be an interesting question to pose to her; maybe I'll get the guts to call her up. She is very alert for her age and has the memory of an elephant. (Elephant? Where did that come from? Anybody know?) Anyway, she use to tell me all kinds of things. She was the official Way slave from the early days. Bless her heart.

I remember when the fog years hit. I kept asking what was going on. I wasn't corps, so I didn't know anything except what leadership chose to tell me. They kept telling me CG accused the bot. I asked what they were being accused of. I was told it wasn't important since it was a lie. I asked how do you know who is right? lcm could say he was right, and CG could say he was right. I was told to ask God. God didn't tell me, otherwise He would have told me to get the "F" out in 1987-88 when I was asking these questions. Nobody asked for proof from lcm to prove he was right, they just took his word for it.

I take people's word for it if they tell me an experience they had unless they give me a reason not to. Some may say I'm naieve, but I agree with Hope that they don't have anything to benefit by divulging the information.

I dont' agree that GS is about PFAL. There are people who never took that stupid class. It's about people sharing experiences and venting frustrations to help them move on and then forget about the time they spent in a horrendous cult. For some people, this may take longer. I don't judge how long it takes for anybody to heal.
