  1. Valerie ! WOW!! Thanks! And Carol Hooley McCardle ! I love her. She was such a good friend to me at a time long ago, she has such a big heart. Thanks Val for all this work you are doing. I hope the reunion is a huge success. :D-->
  2. No I really did cry, real tears ! And I've seen pictures of those rollercoasters in Vegas, thats way more excitment then I am willing to handle.
  3. Kayaking can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it. as far as exercise it feels like palades (spell?) My favorite kayaking trip was in Florida by the way. Now bungee jumping, never ever....ever.....ever...could I do that. Once I tried a miniture rollercoaster at one of those little traveling carnivals, thinking " I can handle that " It scared me so much I cried !!!
  4. Please don't say ordeal Kayaking is one of my favorite activities, I'm hoping to lure some other 7th corps to get wet in the Colorado river with me. :D--> I always try to take advantage of the local waterways whenever traveling. Now bungee jumping, that I might call an ordeal, the very thought of it makes my knees turn to jelly.
  5. Thanks igotout ! After seeing the yearbook Val posted and this list of names I realize that there were many more people in our corps then I had remembered. We were such a large group, and in our final year, I moved locations every couple of months, got to know some people quite well and others I barely knew at all. But what.... are there like four or five of us here at Greasespot? Any one else out there from the 7th Corps? Oh yes and since this is the reunion thread, I've been checking out kayaking on the Colorado River and on Lake Mead. there's a nice trip on the river, though its an all day thing, 10 or 11 hours. here's a short description of the river trip. "This is a twelve-mile run on the Colorado River from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach through Black Canyon. The water runs steady with a short area of fast water, no rapids at all. There are many places to stop along the way including; caves (emerald cave is the best), warm springs and waterfalls, petraglyphs, climbing and hiking, sandy beach for relaxing and camping. I have gone down twice and both times saw bighorn sheep drinking along the shoreline. It is a refreshing surprise and I know you will have a great time. " There are shorter trip options on Lake Mead as well.
  6. jezusfreaky, Could that have been Thumbelina from The Pretenders/Learning to Crawl recording? I'm still counting the pennys in my memory bank ;)-->
  7. We need Sunesis to chime in about now, Sunesis I bet you know all these folks! I think I met those guys at HQ in 83, may have been the rock, or they were just at HQ for some reason. I know the date because that was when I moved to NY. And by then Billy was active again for a few years. If you were an artist, Way people just wouldn't give you an inch! Even though artistic license requires at least a mile !!! jezusfreaky, Bands reunited seem to be focused on the 80s quite a bit so you may get to see all those bands play again after all. :)--> I'd love to see the pretenders again.
  8. Oakspear, did those guys play in Billy Falcons band ? The cobwebs in my brain are trying to make a link there.
  9. Not a child of the 80's, but I loved what was going on musically. with the exception of some moments of musical greatness in the 70's, I was so ready for the 80's New Wave of music!
  10. Box of Frogs was the name of the group. I have a tape of theirs called Strange Land.I just dug it out of the basement. It may be the only record they made, or perhaps the first of two ? The record was produced by Paul Samwell-Smith who also played base and sang backup vocals Jim McCarty, Cris Dreja, all present and accounted for, Jimmy Page plays on one song only "Asylum" otherwise they have a bunch of different lead guitar players. All vocals are a guy named John Fiddler. Now I must confess I only know all this because I'm reading the tape jacket (The only band I could ever name completely was the Beatles). I never loved this record. Its 80s and you can hear that 80s pop sound through out, with teasers of Yardbird art school brilliance. Its really hard to describe. I loved the old blues covers best. Did you ever see the movie Blow Up ? That has the famous Yardbirds scene where Jeff Beck smashes the guitar and tosses it into the audiance. Good classic film of the period.
  11. Could that have been Joe Satriani playing the guitar intro for the official yardbirds site?? I was always a Beck fan myself. I have to take advantage of this rare oportunity to boast (so few people know or care who the Yardbirds are) that I did see the Yardbirds play in my home town of Annapolis Md. in 1964 or 65. It was so strange that they even came there. I remember that I had just recently purchased the album called Rave Up. sorry... I... can't... resist... must... talk about... this... they were incredible! it was the first time I'd ever gone out to see any live music in my life, after all I was only 13. Whoever put on the show must have gotten the high school cheerleaders to be go-go dancers up on scaffolding, aka Hulabaloo and Shindig. Jeff Beck took one hand away from his guitar long enough to trace a big square in the air and point to the go-go girls, they were oh so wrong for that show.... I will really make myself stop now. How about fast forwarding about 30 years. I'd love to see the Pixies get together again That was a brilliant group.
  12. Any one know how Frank Gild is doing, or what he is doing ?? Its been more than 20 years since I last saw him in California. He was a fellow laboror at Emporia way back in 73/74. One of the coolest and funniest persons I've ever known. Any info would be appreciated, I know nothing of what may have become of him.

    ARGH!

Wow!! your right, right foot and right hand and left foot and left hand. but I can make the 6 without any trouble using the left hand and right foot or vise-versa. I have way to much time on my hands :D-->
  14. I was in time warp when I made that post, remembering old issues of rollingstone magazine. I thought they all had moved on to supergroupdom except for Keith. Now its been about 40 years! I'll do a google search and see what I can dig up. ( no pun intended ! ) Okay, I found two great websites for Yardbirds fans! they are slow loading but worth the wait . And if you live anywhere near Twickenham you can go see them ( todays version of them ) this week. www.yardbirds.us www.theyardbirds.com [This message was edited by simpatico on February 03, 2004 at 14:36.] [This message was edited by simpatico on February 03, 2004 at 14:39.]
  15. I saw the Dramarama reunion, they were so good ! Remarkable how they picked up right where they left off all those years ago. My fave band, The Yardbirds can never reunite since Keith Relf is dead and the others are all to famous any way, not as exciting as pulling someone out of there job at the Quicky Mart.
  16. I just saw this last night, and loved it!! Incredible mountain climbing. Based on the true stories of two brits climbing in Peru. It's filmed like a documentary The story of their survival is amazing.
  17. I was able to read some profiles, while visiting my mother over the holiday, and enjoyed getting to know more about each person. I was impressed and encouraged by those of you who shared more about yourselves, and took that oportunity to add a litle more info to my profile. For some reason I am not able to see any profiles ( even my own ) on my computer, I can read and I can post, thats it. When I get the problem solved I will definitely modify my profile.
  18. Great Idea! I also think NK would not work as well as another location because it would just be to uncomfortable emotionaly for the people trying to escape the way. Perhaps something more in the line of a underground railroad, a place to go to in NK just to get a ride to the bus station or whatever is needed to get to the next location. But wherever that safehouse is, it would not be a secret for long, someone would end up going back and spilling the beans to HQ. When or if that happened the safehouse would be far enough away to be more inconvenient for harassment from the HQ.
  19. Great post Sunesis, I whole heartedly agree. And I think Oaksear hit the nail on head or should I say the "skunk pelt" when he spoke of the difference between VP and C. I saw two personalitys seeking the same things, Power, Control, Sex and a Retirement Plan.
  20. Whats up with this? I was in the 7th corps, This could be alot of fun, but also a little scary. If its still on the table, I would appreciate If more 7th corps could respond. I have not posted for about 2 years but am using the same name as I did then. My good friend Sunesis can vouch for me. My 7th corps friends will remember me as Jackie but please call me simpatico
