  1. Well, last I heard there was a slew of people (close to 200) involved with Tom Burke, Ken McCaw, Ken's brother, a few musicians (Leon Hansen, etc.) in and around Columbus.

Cleveland has Walt Luke and not sure how many folks are up there any more but there was a group there not too long ago.

  2. Not sure what Walter is up to these days except that he has his own subscription journal you can purchase "Scripture Consulting" and also pay for his services to review your research, etc. I know the times I've heard of him traveling around the country to local gatherings have all been Geer affiliated groups, but have no idea if he visits non-Geer groups or not.

Johnny T. is (or was at the last I heard fairly recently) the only licensed instructor in Ohio of Walking in God's Power classes and other Geer taught classes/seminars. And, typical of many in Geer groups, does not have very many nice things to say about bible fellowships not affiliated with Geer - - including the large groups in Columbus and Cleveland lead by other former-twi leaders.

  3. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experiences, Jim.

Mine are not nearly as interesting, but a little non-typical nonetheless.

I just returned from a dinner with guests from Colombia (from the Central Bank of Colombia (Banco de Republico) - - like our Federal Reserve Bank here in the U.S.) and from our Mexican distribution partner company. There were 15 or so of us at dinner. I sent out a note to our company today explaining why they were all in town (for technical training on our products) and who they all were and I received an email back from a quiet software engineer who resides way in the middle of a vast sea of cubicles in our engineering section.

This is a young man I've only said hi to a couple of times because he rarely comes out of his cubicle. He was so excited we had guests in from Colombia because he was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia - - so I invited him to join us for dinner which invitation he gladly accepted. We had 3 guest from Bogata - - and Jairo had such a wonderful time trading stories about "home"with them - - such a delight to see him lit up like that.

Dinner was wonderful and those of us who host these types of things regularly, move around the table to talk to everyone (I, so I could practice my deplorable Spanish) - - and the other managers, so they can at least chit chat with each of our customers.

We had 3 English-only folks from our company (CFO and 2 trainers) and we taught them a little Spanish and they asked us for recommendations on places to visit in the U.S.

One young dad was just getting ready to go to meet up with his wife and young daughter in Orlando and visit Disneyworld. He had just gotten off the phone with the young daughter who could only exclaim in glee "Minnie, Minnie, Minnie" because she can't wait to meet Minnie there!

Nothing major. Just "folks". Wonderful salt of the earth folks. We all had a great time just eating and drinking together despite some of the language challenges - - but plenty of hugs and "besos" (kisses) as we all said "buenos noches".

    Nice thread, Jim.

    Thanks.

  4. Kansas City last I heard. He had gone from being in major debt to the Geer franchise, to trying to sell all the ex-wayfers insurance. She was waitressing and was doing a MLM health care line on the side.

  5. Outadafog ~

We all enjoyed reading your story when you first arrived here at the cultfe. Thanks for sharing that part of your life with us.

Happy birthday to you. May it be the start of a new adventure for you this year!

  6. Dearest Buck ~

Thank you for letting us know about Jimmy. Many of us from the earlier days of Calif. are a direct result of his ministry. God bless his soul.

"And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred."

Although we are sad he has left this earth, we rejoice for what he did in our Lord's name.

My prayers and condolences to your family. May you find strength to celebrate his wonderful life.

  7. I've been in Indianapolis now for 4 years. Let me know if any of you are ever passing through.

Dang, Catcup. I was just up in Cleveland visiting my niece who recently moved there and forgot you were up there. I'll have to PM you the next time I'm going up and maybe we can get together for coffee.

  8. Hey 9th-ers. Been on the road travelin here, there and too many places like Mr. Strangeone, so am catching up over a pot of coffee this a.m.

What? The Eagle has landed????? How cool is that???? Welcome back my dear Rocky friend. Simon's been kind enough to keep me posted on your well being :), but you've been missed. These slackers here have missed DAYS of posting so you'll have to whip them into shape again so Ms. Tonto and I can enjoy our morning coffee with a chuckle.

SimonZ, your memory never seizes to amaze me ;) I've not heard wooly bully in a long time. Andof course his daughter adores him, excie - - what's not to love???

NIKA, so glad you are well again and back dancing here at the cafe! Your updates were missed.

Just got back from a trip to S. Diego and then Orlando for 6 days and I come back to FROST! What's up with that?

Bill, we need to get those grapes in before they turn to frozen raisens.

    Love to all.

  9. OMG! Vince McHugh! What a blast from the past. Nice to see a name from the old days of Calif. here. Pam can tell you who I am, though not sure if you'd remember. Great to see you here! Glad you and Pam connected.

  10. Happy, happy day to you, Catcup!

Been fun getting to know you here and in chat. Thanks for the perspective you've added here. For some of us oldtimers, it's been very helpful to know that some of our instincts we had back then were correct (even if we ignored them at the time).

Hope all you Cats have a fun time celebrating.

Best wishes for an amazing year for you!

  11. Hey John ~

So good to hear from you. Glad to have the update on Dana. We were glad she had the courage to go in the hospital and get taken care of and trust she is receiving great care so she's back in the swing of life again soon. How is your daughter doing with everything? Hope she's with great relatives who are loving her much with both parents occupied elsewhere.

Wow! Congrats on your promotion. Certainly the Green Zone needs an ambassador who can cut thru the bull.... like you (wink). Will definitely pray for open doors for you to touch people who need to be loved in that difficult area. Please take care of yourself, dear medic.

Keep us posted when you can. Prayers for your entire family.

    Hugs to you!

  12. Happy 21st, Jennifer!

Your mom updates us from time to time on your many musical quests and accomplishments (and we're long overdue for a new one, Mom). What great talent you have at such a young age!

May you continue to have a song in your heart this coming year!

    J.

  13. Geetar man, Socks and Mrs. Socks, are just north of you a spell, NLL. Oh and Mark Sanguinetti is around SF or north of it, I forget.

  14. Happy Birthday, dear friend!

So great to connect with you and hubs here and continue to catch up after all these years. Wonderful you are still your young, sexy, funny, vivacious self! Still hoping I can come down that way and hang with you guys, but until then, you have yourself a great b-day and wonderful year.

And you look mah-ve-lous, dahling!

    Love,

J, the boy, and the dog
