6 pages of Harry Potter fascination, are we serious? I received an e-mail a few weeks ago from an ex-wayfer who recognized my name from one of the ex-way sites. Actually, I got the feeling he was really looking for a future mrs. wash my shorts, but that's for another thread. Being the absolute cynic I am, I didn't provide any info about my life today. He then asks me if I follow one of the more popular splinters in the southwest. Instead of saying no, I went into a tirade on why it was okay for me not to "fellowship" anymore. Ah, the point! Why are we still so compelled to prove our point of view is the correct one. Why do we feel as though we won't rest until we "win one"? Is it the fear of losing a friend or potential friend or this entire pseudo support system? And wouldn't that only reveal where we are living in a state of illusion anyway? Or are we just a bunch of angry people who like to shame others? With the recent bombings, and cops putting 5 shots into a guy at point blank range, our children being scooped up of the street and all the real horror going on around us, doesn't fighting for your right to like or dislike Harry seem well, insane? What is going on in the world right now is scary ...don't you think? Should I duck?

Marytrs for Jesus ... catchy. Personally, I expect to hear a lot of "christian" discussion here at GSC. What I find disconcerting is the chance we others take when coming out as unbelievers in that reality. I'd like to see everyone on equal footing. The fact remains some of us do not hold the bible as "the Truth" and no longer use it as the rule book for life. Now Harry Potter? Well, it too is another great work of fiction that contains great truths in it. Seekers will always find truth.
