  1. "Of course I did my time in the ninth corps, so I walked in awares" I did my time under a 9th corps grad so I received an exemption. Was that too naughty? I apologize in advance... :)
  2. Okay...hate me! It's not like my private messages over flow anyway. The same thought keeps playing like a broken record over and over and over. What is in the best interest of the child!!! Yes, in many cases loss of parental rights is in order, but in all cases? Who decides? Are therapists involved at all? Are children getting therapy? Every state has $$ set aside for victims of crime and their families to get medical treatment, therapy and lost wages even. The sad thing is without proper therapy, keeping a child away from the bio perp can cause it's own problems. The child feeling at fault immediately comes to mind. If the bio parent can and is willing to receive treatment in an offender program, courts will generally work toward unification as in the best interest of the child. I feel your pain, really I do, but my ex didn't even get charged with the crime. And while I did get a no contact order, and left the state...that could change if and when he participates meaningfully in an offenders group or something. The good thing is, my children have their own attorney (not the same as mine) who represented them well and will be hand in hard with the children's therapist if any change in the court order should occur. My kids miss their Dad, but through loads of counseling they are willing to forego just having "Dad" until they can have a safe, appropriate, healthy Dad. It took a long time for me to honestly say, I want what's best for my children without running it through what I thought was best for my child (which hung on the coat tails of all my shame issues, and all my past trauma, and an unyielding thirst for revenge.) I wish you all the best. And like my therapist always says, "As you get well, your kids will get well."
  3. David Sedaris and Dr. Seuss... When I was in high school it was Ayn Rand and Kurt Vonnegut... Now I read memoirs and personal essays...and Shakespeare and Seuss...
  4. I have my hooded sweatshirt. Back in those days we cut the neck to make more room and who knows what else is wrong with it. I think I have a couple of friends with tee shirts...I'll ask around.
  5. I didn't read that you were googling gay porn. I read a statement that was not directed to any singled out person. Thank you for noting it was a quote from the book. That does not suggest it is shown in the movie, which is they way you made it sound. The woman who wrote the book can be a graphic as she likes. I don't read romance novels, but it seems like it would be close to that style of writing.
  6. Sudo-Sir, Why are 2 guys lip-locked and a guy and gal, holding hands and kissing? Why does your vobabulary change with the couple? I am not bothered by anyone holding hands and sharing a kiss. It's sweet. Boys with boys, girls with girls or one of each. Foreplay by either is inappropriate. And no sir, I am not bothered by 2 guys holding hands or 2 girls holding hands. I am not bothered when a lesbian flirts with me. I am not worried about who I am. The thing is Brokeback Mountain is a chick flick. If men don't want to see it...heck, I understand that. Jerry Maguire was too much a chick-flick for most guys I know...but why do so many think it's a conspiracy?
  7. Well, I understand, but I am no more disgusted by homosexuals acting inappropriately in public than I am about heterosexuals. I think both are behaving poorly. But it is not about who's doing whom. It is about decorum and manners. As a single mother, I am more bothered by single moms who throw themselves at men, who carry on in bars and who give us all a bad name. I think anyone can say that about their group. Perhaps married hetero couples feel that way about swingers. But I don't sit around and judge divorcees. I lead support groups for divorcees and try to help bring about change in positive healthy ways. Heal the hurt and you will heal acting out behaviors. Or you could just call them names, also behave poorly, and feel superior...
  8. It's totally disgusting to you and yet you troll for more info to be disgusted by. Don't you see that it is you that is making yourself disgusted and not one anyone else is doing? Why do you keep touching the flame? You know it's gonna' burn you and yet you keep going back for more. I think the bigger question is...why do you put yourself through it,if not of some kind of twisted pleasure? If I know I am going to be repulsed by something I certainily don't prove my point by seeking it out.
  9. Thank you, Nellie! And for the record please tell us how much anal sex was actually shown in the film. Or as Ron put it "anal assaulting" - which to me sounds like rape. Hell, they probably showed more on Nip/Tuck last season...
  10. First, neither horn is a reed instrument; they are brass instruments. For a student I would suggest a student version and used. I made the mistake of obtaining every instrument my kids showed a slight interest in and I now have enough to start my own band. I'm just glad my 7 year old still has the chance to pick from the current selection. One of my kids played trumpet, but after a couple of years the teacher said he was more suited for the baritone (which he was) the school provided the horn, but I needed to get the mouth piece and that was about $40.00. Good luck and don't forget to check pawn shops and 2nd hand stores! Oh and one last thing... If your child is really motivated, a coronet, which is not as popular as a trumpet, may be more in demand for positions in band/orchestra. And may be more attractive to colleges with scholarship $$.
