  1. Thank you gentlemen, I've perused the scanners functions and a bit of the tutorials (I just wish those things were easier to understand...I get so frustrated sometimes) and now have a greater understanding of the difference between the file types. Why oh why do they not make these things standardized, well I understand now, I think but what is important is I can now scan images to my webiste (bellsouth btw) and post 'em here. Again my thanks and a happy turkey day to you all. Paw, I don't have your smoke signal address, Cox.net is the only one I have. Happy B'day btw :D-->
  2. I am confused once again... I can scan into tiff format but my website won't allow me to upload a tiff file to it. What is it with all these different files types? Why oh why would someone design so many instead of standardizing these things? Is there an easy (read free) program that can convert these things into a usable format? I am seriously considering junking this whole internet/puter concept and returning to snail mail n smoke signals...
  3. Hello again puter guru's My USB port seems to not be working near like it used to. My DSL is connected to the front port while my printer and mousie are attached to the back. One of my ports (the printer one) is broken and I'd like to replace it with a new one. This seems to be something I can do as I've already been in there a few times n all but I thought I'd ask your advice afore getting started. I'm guessing my local computer store carries replacement ports and I'm also guessing that it is basicly a unplug/replug operation. What say ye? Again many thanks for your expertise. Mike
  4. I see this from two sides, first from twi's pov... Ummm well there is none Next from my pov... Those promises made years ago concerning Mrs W's care are twi's ethical obligations to fullfil pure and simple. They should expend every effort to fullfil Dr's directives concerning Mrs W's care and do so joyfully and with great zeal as God requires this of them. That said, it shouldn't come as any surprise to learn that twi does not keep their word. Think of all the promises made to the hundreds (if not thousands) of believers who through the years got the shaft from twi. If you cannot trust someone to keep their word, then what have you? A cluster fck fer starters, one that should send their remaining followers RUNNING with their abs to some other church offshoot or coven. I really do believe these guys are trying to run off as many people as possible. Whoever convinced them to do this outlandish thing had to have been a graduate of else m's spiritual warfare and corperate stratagies class (now available on betamax). All I can say to harve and the bod is that the pit you dig today may be the one you fall in tommorrow. Good Luck sorting this out you guys
  5. My cousin keeps sending me word docs that I cannot get into, in fact it sez the file can't be found. Is this because the file name is wrong? and if it is then how do I go about finding out the correct file name? This is frustrating to say the least...
  6. I looked over their service's and they look helpful. From what I gather tho GO is going through a funding crunch, having to get an extension on a couple of grants due to the sudden departure (with books) of a previous director whose name oddly enuf was craig In anycase I don't think we'll be recieving more than 200 responses which means the staff can process the info themselves (we have a great bunch of volunteers :)--> ). I think I'll play with the excel spreadsheet this weekend n see what I can come up with. Mike
  7. Thanks Igotout (thank god ya did bro!) I particularly like that excel form. I'll play with it this weekend. As and aside, what do I need on the other side of the form to recieve/read it? I'm assuming it doesn't just appear somewhere all by itself. See GO (bless their lil ol hearts) has been using adobe for their online registration which meant/means that a conference attendee has to print the durn thing out n mail it in...
  8. Thanks for the help guys this sure is an exciting adventure for me that's for sure! I am working on a form for Georgia Organics to use as part of a statewide survey of sustainable farmers. We have approximately 50 folks in my county who are involved in sust. ag. in some form or fashion and if the rest of the states demographics are similar to ours then there is a whole bunch of folks out there that we know nothing about. Some of these will succeed some will not but by GO making contact with them and helping them to network, inviting them to seminars which are tailor made for them and promoting their products we will be doing our part in helping them to succeed. This is a drum I've been beating for several years now and is finally getting serious consideration (aka looking for funding). There is a direct marketing position opening up in the immediate future (no I am not considering it) and I think this would be a fine fit with that job. The form would need several tables for their address phone etc and another one for additional comments as well as a couple of check boxes and fill in boxes. Mostly stuff like how long have you been farming how many acres do you currently work and the all encompassing *what is the biggest issue or concern you are facing on your farm in 50 words or less*. Basicly what I want is a rough draft of the form with functional goodies to delight the eye, capture the imagination and hopefully provide a timely boost to it's inception. My vision for this project is an all out effort to locate these guys via contacts at farmers markets, extension agents, conferences and any other means reasonably logical and practical; then to develop programs to meet their needs as well as building an online and print database of growers arranged by county for easy reference. But all I need now is a form... Mikey
  9. I'm working on a survey form for some folks. This will be an online questionaire with several multiple choice questions and a couple of fill in the blank and written answer ones as well. Someone told me that Office xp can do interactive forms like this but I can't quite find this interesting feature. Is there such a thing in xp? How does this thing work?? Where does the info go when it gets clicked? Is this like rocket science or can a humble window cleaner such as myself dream of one day finding the remote under the sofa cushions or at least figure out how to do a demo for folks to look at?? Whatcha think ?
  10. Thanks guys, my norton virus program loaded just fine but my internet security thang that came with it won't. I've loaded adaware and it works fine as did the wincleaner. Wincleaner simplifies cleaning my drive of temp folders cookies and clutter, I fergit if I bought this or if it came with another program but it works too. Ummm now that I've loaded xp I am getting one persistant popup telling me that they can solve my popup problem (convenient isn't it considering they are the only popups I get ) Shell suggested buying their service but that seems like extortion to me and I won't do it. For now I simply consign them to whatever hell it is they go to when they are deleted. I've gotten a couple of docs from a cousin of mine that word won't recognise, even did the web search thang to no avail, it was an attachment and ought to have worked but didn't, any suggestions on how to figure out what program could be used to open them? I didn't notice a zip file but it does start off like this...sign_me.doc? Ahh puzzlement of puzzlements, what awaits me on the other side of this file attachment... :D--> Thanks guys
  11. WOW What great pics! Muchos Gracias for posting them, you guys look FANTASTIC!!
  12. Thanks guys :)--> Igot I did a fresh install but left my old 40 gig in there because...I couldn't get a straight answer from the Staples folks how to go about formatting the new drive, something about partitions and boot disks and they didn't know and I SURE didn't know, so I thought better off leaving that alone for now. I did reload the java machine and it works fine tho :)--> I've got Nortons Internet Security and Antivirus and Business Logic's WinCleaner '03 and would like to load Lavasofts Adaware but haven't because (next question coming up) I've heard there could be a conflict somewhere with Norton, this is true yes? Is there a way around it? BTW I just LOVE my XP it runs alot smoother n the 98 did and the accessory pack that came with it, Word and Media sure make writing term papers a snap. I got a free version from school cuz of some deal they have with Microsoft, I suggest ifn yer a student somewhere and would like and upgrade to check with ITS and see if they have a similar agreement with the Bill. Thanks, Mike

  14. I just updated my puter to xp AND got rid of my 64k ram n replaced it with 512 of them bad boys. Trouble is now chat won't work and I'm having withdrawels, is this normal? Why does it not like me? What can I do to fix this preposterous dillema?? Mikey
  15. Well I for one had a great time being the benevolant dictator of this event. Part of what made it so much fun was the giving hearts and willing hands that make it such a breeze to coordinate. I think we all did wonderfully. That is my story and I AM sticking to it. :D-->
  16. I was having a nice heart to heart with a good friend on my cabin deck while all this wuz happening, just so you know at least I was behaving myself :P--> And didn't you guys see the signs at the park entrance? or did one of youse use it fer firewood?? :D-->
  17. Oh I understand Cathy, the Dad in me was argueing with the male in me about just how I was going to explain all this to the park rangers (and police) IF Cory didn't make it back quick with them...
  18. Ladies Ladies Ladies... First off I'd like to thank the academy for those Red Hot Silk Boxers. I think had I stayed up till the end of that party I'd of joined the good dr dancing fer dollars wouldn't THAT of been a sight! They fit well and feel very comfortable, thank you VERY much. Next year I will model them if I can stay awake. :P--> I had a wonderful time, it was so great to hang out with you guys and chat. Getting to put a face with a name and see the whole person (hootchie cootchie dances not with standing) was thrilling. I think if we plan this again for next year we'll need to rent a block of cabins and seal that end of the campground off from other campers, whatcha think? Moms... Really... Cory is QUITE the woodsman, thank you Cory fer being so able to show us cityfied folks how to git along in the country. Cathy was a wee bit upset when she showed up at the campfire but it was evident you knew your way around out there so I knew the kids would be found quickly, sides how old are these boys anyways??? 12? 14? Sheet why when I was a young fella about their age I'd take off on state park trails fer HOURS at a time and didn't get killed kidnapped or lost (for too long), you ladies have some fine young men there give them lots of hugs. Mikey the benevolant napping dictator
