  1. Hmm, don't really recall those, but they may have come out when I was a bit older. I never got a cabbage patch doll, I guess I was getting a bit too old for dolls by that stage. Though I did wrangle getting a Strawberry Shortcake doll :D--> She was really sweet, and she smelt pretty too.
  2. Back in the 80s, when Smurfs and Cabbage Patch dolls came on the scene, rumours began to run amok through the JWs. Smurfs were considered to be demonised, because the rumour went that they were based on some Scandanavian gnome, and all gnomes and goblins were substitutes for the demons. There was a persistant rumour that some kid had brought some toy smurfs to a Kingdom Hall (meeting place of JWs) and it became alive, and ran down the centre aisle of the Hall!! Funnily enough, my parents let me watch the smurf cartoons, and I had a little collection of toy smurfs (bought from a petrol station change each time you bought $10 worth of petrol). But they finally bowed to public pressure, and I had to throw the toy smurfs away. Cabbage patch dolls also were rumoured to be demonised. Again, the rumour went that some kid had one at a Kingdom Hall, and it became alive!! Did you ever hear these kinds of rumours? Were these sorts of rumours about things that were "demonised" common in The Way?
  3. I cannot get over how similar our stories are. TWI life sounds just like the JWs, especially when things go wrong and you basically have to keep your mouth shut, lest you be branded as a troublemaker. I noted you used the phrase "new light". That is also a JW phrase (comes from the book of Psalms I think) used to describe new directions and leanings in teachings. Anything that is found in the older publications are called "old light" and the new teachings are called "new light".
  4. Hey Refiner, Since you know the chef, can you tell him that I like my steak well-done? And I'll have it with potatoes in the jacket. Thanks
  5. :P--> I know you love the attention. ;)-->
  6. Someone had to post it. :D-->
  7. Lindy, No, your signature hasn't offended me, no problems there. Although, when I read it, it reminds me of the expression "who's your Daddy" which is usually said in a sexual context. So to me, it's a play on an expression that usually has sexual overtones.
  8. In cooking terms that's correct, but most Aussies call all of them prawns.
  9. Then why did that Crocodile guy say that? hmmmm... he must've had a hidden agenda or something... It was Paul Hogan that said that, not that Steve Irwin guy.
  10. My agenda is to get my washing dry before the rain comes back :D-->
  11. Who's "we"? I ask because I've attended Anglican churches (I think you call them Protestant) where they didn't regard non-trinity belief as heresy.
  12. Hmmm, let's see, to learn something new, to open one's mind to other experiences, to meet new people, to recognise that your own trauma isnt as unique as you'd like to think it is....
  13. Thanks Exy. It happened many years ago, but there are still times I could do with having my mummy.
  14. Pass me another wine-eskie please. ;)--> Ahhhh... not that kind of cooler, I meant the box in which you carry your drinks, to picnics and whatnot. If you don't call them coolers, what do you call them? We have coolers of the alcoholic kind too. I like Lemon Rushkies, which are made of vodka and lemon flavouring.
  15. No we don't, because we call shrimps, prawns. :D-->
  16. *slaps Refiner* Bad boy!!! I'll have to whip that cheekiness out of you! :D-->
  17. That's a rather judgemental comment for a Christian to make, is it not?
  18. No arm (wrist, actually) broken the way mine was, could heal overnight. I believe there's a God but there's no way he would heal an arm overnight. Guess those heathen Africans should start believing so they don't all die of starvation, eh?
  19. I never saw the first Spidey movie, but I remember the basic story from the tv cartoon from my childhood. The movie is AWESOME!!! I didnt think I'd enjoy the movie as much as I did. :D--> And they certainly left themselves open for a S3 movie. Guess we'll have to wait and see?
