Ok, have to remember that. We have 2 calls centers. The big one on Long Island, which has about 1k techs and its own Spanish queue. And Russian queue. And Mandarin queue. Then we have our brand spanking new center, with about 100 techs, and no Spanish queue. Its coming though. They just asked for volunteers. Hey, I'm not complaining. They're building us a rec room, and they just ordered the pool table, fooze-ball table, air hockey table, and video games. Should have them all around Nov. 15th. Techs can get burned out REALLY FAST if you don't take care of them.

I work in the Tech Support department for a large (6 million+ subscribers) cable company. We do only the internet connection, email, and nothing else. We don't even troubleshoot your router. Liability issues there. You have no idea... How many times I hear "Thank God you speak English" every day. How many times I hear "I but I don't want to call (computer manufacturer name). They don't speak English there!" every day. How many time I hear "where are you located?' "shelton, CT" "really? so you're not outsourced to india?" "no, sir/ma'am, its company policy to never do that" "that's wonderful!" every day. That and the "Do you speak Spanish" calls I get 10 times a day. Customer Service IS alive and well. You just have to know where to find it. We have certain federal regulations we have to follow, and we go well beyond that. CS is half of the ratings they use on me. If I had lousy CS scores, I'd get fired. So it does still exist. You just have to look for it.

My WoW sister, on her interm Corps year, once told me "Didn't they tell you that you couldn't bring that stuff with you?" when I was listening to a demo tape a very close friend of mine made and had sent to me just before I went WoW. "No, they didn't." "Well, you're not supposed to." "Who said that?" "Just renew your mind and obey." Followed by me swearing at her for the next 10 minutes. Almost left the field that day. My Dad convinced me not to. I got my pin though. Its sitting in the jewelry box. I won't wear it, I'll be damned if I won't keep it. I earned it. A year of unmittigated hell where I went from someone who was teaching twig in some capacity every week, if not the featured teacher, to only being allowed to wash the dishes. I wasn't even allowed to cook for the family. Teach in twig? You have got to be kidding... The rest of the family could barely boil water. My mother made sure BOTH her sons could cook well. And the worst thing of it was that it was MY FAMILY that was sending us "care packages" every week. Some small food staples, the government cheese my grandmother got, some treats, like cookies, and usually a tape telling me how much they loved me. Until my family co-ordinator (same interm Corps) started confiscating the tapes, saying that "I didn't need to think about them" that they were "holding me back from doing the job I was sent there to do". Until I got fed up, walked in her bedroom, and grabbed them. I was so mad, it the the first, and last, time I ever put my hands on a woman in anger. Didn't hurt her. Just picked her up and moved her out of my way. That's when I changed my hours at work, got home before evryone else, got the care package, and locked it in my bedroom. That, and I had Corps rammed down my throat every day. I didn't even have the Advanced Class at that point, and she kept pushing Corps at me. I asked her about my fiancee, and she said that she would have to be a Corps grad for the wedding to be approved. That was the day I told her to take the Corps and shove it. Sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into a rant, but this still bothers me, even though its now more than 20 years ago. To this day, I can't stand at the sink and wash dishes. My wife has to do it. She understands though. And I adore her for it.

I had one Corps grad (I won't mention names) actually try and physically throw me out of my parent's house once. Why? Because I stubbed my barefoot toe on the kitchen table leg and cursed. And it really wasn't anything bad. All I said was "Oww, s@@@, that hurt." Idiot. Did I mentionthat at that time I was 6'5", over 275 pounds, and had many years of martial arts training? Out of respect for my parents, I didn't hurt him. I just put him on his butt. Then he started yelling at my father about how I was "possessed because a true believer would never raise a hand to a man of god". My father decked him for that. When he got up, my mom whacked him behind the knee with her cane. I picked him up and threw him out the door. We never went back. This was all before the "mark and avoid" garbage.

Ok, if someone had EVER told me twig 3 times a week, including manditory witnessing night, I would have to them to shove it somewhere. Glad I was out by that time. I would have probably had a few fistfights, that's for sure. Of course, I'm a "make me" kind of person when confronted and told to leave.

I was a WoW in 85-86 in Akron, Ohio. My family co-ordinator (aka Corps field year) tried to make the rules extremely strict. We told her to shove it. She tried to ram Corps down our throat. We eventually told her to shove that too. We saw them as guidelines. The only ones we really worried about were the bedtime and the wake time. Of course, me NOT being a morning person, the wake time went out the window, expecially since I didn't have to be to work until 11. Of course, we broke the bed time too, quite a few times. And all we were doing was talking, most of the time, in the living room, or in one of our rooms.

Would LCM still be President if the lawsuits were not filed?
Attack Gypsy replied to pjroberge's topic in About The Way
LCM is just waiting out his time, and when the statute of limitations runs out (any idea when that is? I'm not sure. Shouldn't be too much longer. Another year or two?), he's gonna come back and start all over again. The man has an ego this size of Montana. AoTS proved that. Anybody with an ego that big would do anything nessesary, including kill someone, to get what he wanted. He stepped down so TWI wouldn't die completely. So there would be pieces left to pick up. When AoTS came out, it was my WOW year. When I saw my Dad at ROA, I asked him what he thought of it. Very quietly, so no one outside the camper could hear, he whispered "Its Martindale's ego trip.". I knew then we'd be gone within a few years. Took 5 more, but by 91, we were out completely. -
I had a WOW Sister, who was interm Corps, who whenever I disagreed with her in any way, even over what I wanted for dinner, told me to renew my mind. I finally had enough and told her that my mind is my own, and not yours. I'll renew it when I want to, and not when you want me to. And I was really mad when I said it. Picture if you will - Bob (me) is 6'5" , 242 lbs. (this was a long time ago. ) and raging mad. Renee is all of 5'2" and maybe 105 pounds. Guess who won. She never said it again. Bob

I'm trying to find my WOW family from 85-86. Akron, Ohio. I'm remember Craig's last name was Hattamer. I don't remember the girls, Robin and Renee, last name. Renee's may have been Richards, or Richardson. I'm not sure. Too many years. I'd like to find out what may have happened to them. If anybody has heard anything, please contact me at attackgypsy@gmail.com Bob

Was your nametag really indicative of your faithfulness to God?
Attack Gypsy replied to Hills Bro's topic in About The Way
I remember when I was a WOW (85-86), we were going to a meeting, I forget what it was, and we all were getting our name tags (we kept them on some fabric in the dining room wall), and my WOW sister Renee grabs her Corps tag. Me: "You're not going to wear your WOW tag?" Rene: "No, the Corps one is higher". The caste system kinda makes sense now. The Attack Gypsy Thankfully out for 16 years.
