  1. Penwork's analysis of The Way's "good old days" and all subsequent replies were moved to it's own thread - which it definitely deserves. You can find it here: The Way's "Good Old Days" -> Deluded Nostalgia
  2. I'm thinking of going back, doing my penitence, just to take this class! Think about it! The ability to talk people into taking a class! Doesn't that just excite you? I can barely contain myself....
  3. She and her husband were active members of The Way International. They were running a fellowship out of their house. They had every right to expect the benefits preached by The Way International. Instead they have this. Seems like valid questions to me.
  4. Is it just me, or does no one grow old in The Way? All the promises about a "more than abundant life" -- long life, more than conquerors, etc. etc. etc. Show me the money! Obituary listing: Source: Kristyne L. Crawley (Panarello) Guest book: Guest Book for Kristyne L. Crawley (Panarello) Paw's notice in the Memoriam forum: Kristyne Crawley Daughter of Larry and Connie Panarello Note: I'm starting this here to discuss the question, when is enough enough? When do you stop believing the crap The Way International is teaching? Is the untimely death of someone enough? Also, speculation on how the "leaders" of The Way will spin this. They're normal procedure is to blame the individual or husband -- allowing fear in their life, letting the adversary in. Because, of course, their doctrine could never be wrong.... Well wishes should be done in the Memoriam thread or the Guest book linked to above. So, when is enough enough? When do you call bullsht?

Multi-quote has been around for a bit. Basically, it allows you to select up to 5 posts to quote all at once in a reply. You click the multi-quote button on each post you want quoted, then hit the reply button. All posts should be quoted for you. There may be a current bug with multi-quotes. Not sure. Think I remember reading about it though...

Well, it makes sense now.....after looking at my own buttons on my posts.... No need to PM yourself. And hopefully you're friends with yourself already. :) But for everyone else, they're there for them to use.

Buttons are there: Not seeing them?

I think I found the problem with the missing buttons. For those that were experiencing it, have they shown up now? If not, could you try force reloading a page (CTRL + R) and see if they appear. If that doesn't work, try clearing your history. Hopefully they work for all. Krys -- could be the same issue with the buttons you're not seeing. Try the same steps.

    Song of the moment

New BBCode that seems useful to this thread: media tags. If you have a YouTube URL, just put media tags around it. No need to deal with raw HTML. For example, this: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TahFP6wqA1c[/media] Produces this: I really like The Airborne Toxic Event. :)

Here is what the buttons are supposed to look like, using Safari 4.

OK, I finally booted my laptop into Windows to look at the site using IE7. If feel dirty now. The Add Reply and Start a new topic buttons are not there, both at the top and bottom. Also the Watch this topic button. Technically they are there, but the font is white expecting blue background, not the white IE is giving it. I'm sure it will be fixed by the company who writes the forum software, but it may be a few weeks. May I suggest a few "Standards Compliant" browsers in the mean time? Firefox (What I've used the last 5 years) Safari (What I use more and more lately -- very fast) Opera Google Chrome

    Post Upgrade Issues

There are a few quirks I've noticed with where one ends up after clicking a link. The blogs are the worse. May be fixed soon, but not anything I can do about it now. Can you shoot me a screen shot? Either posted here or PM. If you're on Windows, pressing ALT+PrintScreen will capture the current windows. Open up MS Paint, paste it in. Save it as a JPG. You're all set to up load it.

    Post Upgrade Issues

I do plan to put together a summary of the changes and new features eventually -- once I get everything running correctly. But briefly: Each post has, at the bottom right, a green plus (+) and a red minus (-) and a green or red number next to those. As you're reading along, if you like or dislike what someone wrote, you can give it a rating point (or take one away). Or you can do nothing. Posts that receive a rating of +30 or more (I think -- it's adjustable) get highlighted. Posts with a low negative rating can be auto hidden (a user settable preference). Over time, as people rate what you write, that becomes a part of your reputation.

It looks like they may have changed the meaning of the size numbers. Not sure, never really used them much myself. Size = 1 Size = 2 Size = 3 Size = 4 Size = 5 Size = 6 Size = 7 Don't think it's a bug -- more of a new way of handling font sizes.

You can set your status at the top of your profile page. Clicking on your name in the upper right and selecting Profile should get you there. Chat is installed but not working yet. Shoutbox is installed but not working yet. Check that. Working now.

I ran a routine to rebuild everyone's signature. I then manually fixed yours. Is it me or is it still not showing up right?

Didn't realize we lost some of the stock avatars. I'll see if I can hunt them down too. Probably in the back room drinking spiked coffee.... They were --- the lazy bums.

I believe the pre-upgrade quoted text will be corrected by the morning. Hopefully the emoticons are working again. Little buggers thought it was time for a coffee break....

    Post Upgrade Issues

emoticons are an issue. I'll look into it. All the posts are being rebuilt. It's about 25% done, quite a ways to go. I'll wait until tomorrow to address any formating issues in posts. Thanks for the feedback.

I think the blogs are fixed now. Anyone with a forum ID can create a blog here. Just click on your ID in the upper right and go to settings, then blog.

Apparently another issue is that the forum has forgotten which threads/posts you've already read. Not sure I can do anything about it. Chat room is offline also for a bit. It's on the todo list.

    Post Upgrade Issues

The upgrade isn't really done yet. Just done enough to allow people in again. This was a major upgrade with software that is really not ready for prime time. There will be issues. If you find any, post them here and I'll look into it. Known issues: GS Logo: Looks like crap. It's what happens when you start an upgrade and forget that you still need a logo. I threw it together in about 5 minutes and I have no photoshop skills. Paw is working on a better one. Creating new blog entries apparently isn't working. Getting permission denied errors. If you notice diferent, let me know. Shoutbox needs to be recreated. But.... There are a ton of new features, some most will like, some will drive others nuts. Should be interesting. One new feature of note is the ability to rate a post as good or bad --- which builds a user's overall rating. This should be really interesting. :)

    Movies I like

Was at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island last summer. Great time. Picked up the movie while I was there. Decent flick.

    Shout Box

Short answer: You couldn't before, but now you can. How? Not sure. I think it's different for admins than it is for editing your own shouts. Try poking around again. If you see an icon next to the shout, looks like a piece of paper with a pen writing on it, try clicking on it.
