  1. Theodore's last romp in the snow and waiting for his beloved family to come home. How fulfilled his life was with children. Our fur kids know...they know. They are so precious and loyal. They give so much and ask very little.

My heartfelt thoughts to your family for their loss.

  2. All you indoor seed starters got one over on me. I am pathetically lazy when it comes to doing that.

Too wet is the bodaciously operative word in these parts as far as speaking about stepping one little foot in the garden. But, I am not complaining. No siree, wouldn't entertain the notion for one moment. I think it was about a year ago I reported that our lake was 22 feet below normal. Now it is higher than it has been in 6 years!! I think the term DNR used is "full pool."

Due to the rain I can wait to get out there in my garden, my little farm....waiting....tapping my foot, arms crossed, lips smirked, eyebrows scrunched....waiting....hope it's not like the crossed eyes things and I freeze like that!!!!

  3. Keep posting this stuff so if in old age memory tries the vanishing act I can always look on here. Guffaw!!!

The first baseball scrimmage was snowed out today!!! That's a first. Told the boy, this year I am getting some long underwear for the games. High school season starts this coming Saturday.

  4. Raf, can you believe he is a year old already? Babies are so sweet you could eat them with a spoon. Savor every moment.

Go ahead and order those graduation invitations because that is how fast the next years will pass.

  5. Returned home today from central Florida. Drove mom to her 55 year high school reunion. After visiting some gardens and soaking in the local landscape I am renewed, once again, with grandiose ideas for this parcel of terra firma I am privileged to care for.

I sure do miss the digging and planting and sweating. It is just around the corner. Yee haw!!!

  6. Thanks dmiller. I remember it like that. We ate it quickly before it melted.

It snowed for about 15 minutes last night. It was really pretty but that was enough for me. Snow is rare for us, also. If we do get a winter blast it is ice. We got a bit of that Friday night and it coated the trees. It is all gone away now. Thank goodness.

  7. George, snow cream is something we southerners make and eat from the fallen snow. I have not eaten since my childhood. Sudo and act2 help me with the recipe.

Let me rephrase that. I have not eaten snow cream since my childhood.

  8. We have had some warm days but too much rain to go in the yard or garden. Just this past weekend there was two tornadoes in our county. One very near my home. I was almost beside myself because my two youngest were home by themselves while I was at work. But, they know what to do and where to go.

I was loooking out the kitchen window at the garden just yesterday and today...in truth I look out everyday and say to myself....hhhhmmmm, I'm going to do this and that and this and that and move this here and there...the tomatoes will go there and the beans there and the corn there...... The naked landscape is wonderful.... you get a bigger picture.

  9. I have come to realize there are some Bible and spiritual things in this life I just don't know and never will and I am okey dokey with that. H-e-doublehockeysticks, I don't need to have all the answers. If I did, I might be too smart for my own britches and lose sight of all the folks in this world that need love and help.

I can not fathom looking at my fellow man as fallen or unworthy. That is why religion makes me puke. Most Christian religious denominations never go anywhere to help anybody without the mindset that those they intend to help are just that. The only reason they want to help them is to convert them. Do you think they would just go and help without that intent? Oh, let's feed them, clothe them, teach them to read so they can convert to Christianity.

WEll, I love everybody and I wasn't picking on anybody here. All this scripture bantering back and forth made me think of something I encountered today. So I just had a few things to say ...oohhhkaaaaaaay.

  10. I sure do miss some good ole banana bread....warm with butter smeared all over the top and savored with a good hot cup of strong coffee. I miss those kind of bread days. I am about to start slobbering so I better stop it.

  11. I have plenty of pictures on the camera. I don't know how to download it on the computer much less post it. One of these day if I can get the boy to slow down long enough he can teach his mama how to do it.

  12. I have never had the hams from Spain but my grandpa had hams hanging from the ceiling in the smokehouse. Once you eat that homegrown stuff the grocery store junk just doesn't get it. It is the same with chickens.

Can you imagine an open air market here in the US trying to get away with hanging hams, and displaying all kind of meats and fish the way they do in Europe!??!! The FDA and DHEC would go ballistic.

  13. New baby kitty, Rocket, was a gift to my daughter but he looooooves moi. He has to sleep around my neck. I know it sounds weird. But he is such the baby and I am such a mama I can't make him move. I guess he feels safe. The first week he was with us he would try to nurse my ear lobe!!!! Okie dokie, little booger, I draw the line there. I swear, last time I checked my ear lobe in no way resembles or smells like a teat. Too funny.....

Everywhere I go, this little fella is right there with me. The computer room is the exception. He likes to play with the wires. I close the door and he stands outside clawing and sounding pitiful. By now, he has given up and probably sleeping on my pillow.

Sweetie Pie is just now warming up to him. We didn't know she could be so mean and jealous. Rocket has found a friend in Lily, the Lab. They wrestle and play together. It is so amazing how she knows he is a baby and is so gentle with him. It is hilarious to see his little claws hanging onto her snout. Lily doesn't mind.

  14. Jeff, sweetheart, the best I know to tell ya is you may never get the chance to kick their butts. You may never know what was said behind your back. Believe you me, I knoooow, first hand, your anger and pain and betrayal. It is like having flesh ripped from your body. The healing of that raw, open wound was a long process for me.

So, what'cha gonna do if you never know what was said behind your back or get the chance to whoop their butts? Hire a hitman...just joking, laughing!!! My grandma used to say, it will all come out in the wash. As an adult I have found that to be so true. Love, patience, diligence and staying true to who we are.

It is good you are exposing RRF.
