  1. ChasUFarley, I have to say that is the one thing I miss about Christmas....having little ones, in their footie pajamas, rush to the tree then stand there in wide-eyed amazement.

  2. Once again, all is well in Bedford Falls.

I watch this movie every year on Christmas Eve as if it were the first time.

This year, I think the tradition finally sunk in. Ahh, maturity of the children. They intently watched the movie without complaining about it being in black and white. I don't think they will poke fun at mom anymore for watching old movies . They FINALLY grasped the meaning of the story. I heard a sniffle or two.

    YES!!!!

  3. Tonight, I heard Karen Carpenter's, Merry Christmas Darling. I think that is the name of the song.

Must admit I got a little twingle in the heart...what a voice and how sad that voice ended so young.

  4. We have been keeping up with this story, also.

I agree Ham, these children did not come up with this on their own. They learned from somebody in their life to hurt others.

In one article somebody said the boy or boys (I forget now) should not be punished so severely for a mistake they made as a child. Misspelling a word on a spelling test is a mistake. To me, a mistake indicates unintentional harm.

  5. Oh yeh, and it is heartwarming hearing Burl Ives sing in Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. It reminds me of my childhood.

John Denver's, Please Daddy Don't Get Drunk This Christmas, reminds me of childhood, also.

  6. In August I changed over to Charter as my ISP and no longer receive posted images here at GSC. Frequently in e-mails it is the same problem...one big white square with some colored shapes in the top left corner.

    How do I remedy this?

  7. Roy, my brother. I'm here pulling for you.

If you go see that mental doctor tell him the meds you want is a 3 month vacation somewhere with hula girls!!!!

Keep on posting cause you know we love you. XOXO

  8. Leafy, you are on the west coast and have heavy clay soil? Ditto here, girlfriend!

Azalea's and Camillia's flourish in the sandy areas as well. But the interesting thing is that they do so when planted under or near pine trees or in shaded areas and mulched heavily with pinestraw. Ain't nature fun.

  9. Maybe, it was Veterans Day I watched this program. Vets talking about the closet bond they have ever had in their life is the one with each other in the foxholes. The stories related were of endless hunger at times, cold, wet, much waiting, fear, short supplies of ammo, and not really sure if they believed what they were doing would make a difference. But those men in the foxholes held together despite the circumstances.

That being said, I can understand why some ex way corps folks would be bonded together thus the way corps only site. I can understand why some ex wow folks would be bonded together. Genuine people living in the trenches of life together forms a bond.

  10. Leafy, what waysider said. Except, down here in the hot, humid, sunny south the Azalea's prefer shade.

Here, the Camillia's and Azalea's are in gardens all to themselves. The Azalea's bloom in early spring and the Camillia's in the winter.

Google Calloway Gardens. Some of the most spectacular show of Azalea's. The life span of the flower is very short. But the beauty of it makes it worth while.

The most organic way to add acid is the good ole stand by....pinestraw. You don't even have to turn it in. Just having it as mulch on top adds the acid. If the soil is high alkaline then you may have to add sulfur to lower the ph. Taking soil samples to your local university extension can help with this.

  11. Leaving twi I learned who my friends were. And I know who my friends still are. Four of us still have a close relationship. twi is never in our conversations or life. We have a genuine love for each other.

Recently, my wow sister found me via my son's facebook. I had thought about her so much over the years. Seems she had been looking for me. We have yet to talk about twi. Seems our love and admiration for each other was beyond twi. We broke all the wow rules and lived life together. After she and our wow brother married they moved to where my husband and I lived. By that time we were sick and fed up with twi religion.

When we first spoke to each other after 20 years, you would have never known it had been that long. We just picked up where we left off. I am grateful we found and have each other. I have a piece of my heart back.

  12. Leafy, sage is one thing I don't have in the herb garden that I am going to plant.

My poor, poor gardens. Another torrential rain day. Still can not get out there and finish covering them with compost, leaves and newspaper. I refuse to lay foot on wet soil.

    The Camillias are thriving.
