  1. If this year’s Director Annual Meeting had had a theme, it would have been “preparing for continuing growth and quality service to God’s people for the future.”

    Sam & Jackie Seld*n—KS

OK first this is why Rosalie annoys me, she's a wind bag! Her Themes are longer then the taxonomic nomenclature of animal species.

This is surprising, 1) Sam is still in (15th corps grad) 2) Sam is married (good on ya boy!) 3) Sam is heading up a state. Sam was in my WOW team back in '92-'93, Loved those Mickey's Big Mouths we had a few over the year.

Other wise the Berryh*lls are the only other people I know.

  2. This is a huge surprize, I know Pat wasn't well these past few years.

My first memory of chatting with Pat online had to do with an idea I had for something on his website, good grief you would have though I was asking him to give me his soul. It was his baby and he didn't want any thing messed about on it. Not long after that he'd tap me for technical info, once again drove me nuts about this thing or that. He called me many times after that to talk and maybe enlist my help with something. We had fun on the phone, he had a very dry sense of humor at times so he'd stump me while I'm being serious.

Then I got to meet Pat at the AFF confrence in Fla. He was a nut, just funny as all get out. I was able to sit and watch him interview all these people for his online magazine it was fun. Then in the last year I had not spoken to Pat at all, I feel sad I didn't at least give him a check in call every month or so.

    I'll miss you Pat,

    Seth

P.S. I never knew Pat was born Feb 6th, now it explains why we butted heads so much, that's my birth date.

P.P.S. Thanks Sue for posting this.

  3. Well Crap I could have told you Camden wasn't on the list anymore I live right across the street from Camden and haven't heard a gun shot in 3 months. But winter is coming and so a new year, OK Camden let's kick that St. Louis buttox!

  4. When Drty Dzn and I left the Way Corps, I was brought before JAL. He said that I had to leave, but he said I wasn't kicked out, I chose to leave. Drty Dzn was brought before LCM and was asked if he wanted to go LOA for a year. Drty said no, he was going to drop from corps. LCM said "You can tell people you're kicked out then."

This is one of the more confusing things for most people I talk to about my cult involvement. They think cults don't kick people out, so it's hard to explain why I got out of TWI. My branch coordinator told me not to come back twig, eleven years later it was the best thing.

  5. Hi Folks it's been a couple weeks since I first posted this, I'm happy with the results.

In my original example I used single words that each took on special meaning in TWI, I asked for the same. I am looking for single words that TWI "loaded with meaning". I don't care if these words effect you now or not, just what are the words and what did they mean to you and how did they effect you? How did you change your attitudes and actions after hearing or thinking about those words?

I'm trying to keep it simple most of the buzzwords/loaded language was planted during the PFAL class, and they are single words two words at the most, anything with more then two words becomes a phrase and becomes a concept. Concepts are easier to spot so please understand when I break down those concepts into their original buzzwords.

Kevlar was the first to post, and help with pointing to another thread; my point was specific to loaded language which is more subtle then the renaming and rephrasing of common terms or concepts. Thanks.

Lori posted with a concept "first thought" in my experience this concept was taught after teaching on fellowship or in/out of fellowship. The teaching was something like this, when we are in fellowship we are inspired and therefore our first thought is the one God places there. Of course this then gets into Weirwilles teaching that you can only think one thought at a time, if there are two thoughts then you are possessed.

New loaded words from Lori's post:

    First Thought

Fellowship, in fellowship, out of fellowship

    One Thought

GrouchoMarxJr posted some concepts and added that we can call these trigger words.

    New words from Groucho.

Best, in TWI parlance the word "Good" was passe as Christians God wants what's "best" for us. The Devil knows the difference between good and evil, therefore the devil can choose to do good if he wants. So we were always dogged in TWI to do what's best, because after all we don't want people to think we did the devils bidding.

"That the ministry be not blamed" was high concept not taught at the foundational level. It must invoke many buzzwords certainly "best" is one of them.

    "Be not puffed up"

"Our father in the word" this brings into play a big TWI buzzword "The Word" invoking "the rightly divided word" or "original truth" "God breathed" "revelation". The reference to "Our father" is not a buzzword as such but we know that the man who this referred to did not treat the women in TWI as daughters.

    "Discerning of spirits"

    SafariVista posted some concepts.

"There is safety in a multitude of counselors"

    'One's own' = IDIOT

‘By his stripes you were healed’

‘Whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive’

excathedra, and Thomas Loy Bumgarner checked in.

bliss mentioned "Happy Ho Ho" this was a feeble attempt by TWI to rename Holidays to support their beliefs.

Christmas was a "bad" word in TWI short for Christ's Mass, given TWI's disdain for the Catholic Church they link December 25th not to the birth of Jesus but to the Winter Solstice and the historical sun worship by pagan Romans. So Happy HO HO is more about TWI discrediting Catholics then honoring God.

    templelady shared some buzzwords.

Renewed mind, this term was the ultimate re-enforcer to plug those buzzwords back in, and learn new ones. When I was told to renew my mind it came to mean, think like "we" think.

spiritual trapdoor, this was a shocker to me, TWI teaches that in order for a person to get possessed the spirit has to enter a special doorway to the mind and body. TWI teaches that this doorway is shut when one is in fellowship, but at times when one is not in fellowship the door may open. Since TWI teaches they have the purest truth their way is the best way not to become possessed. This sets up a circular logic pattern in the mind leading to a phobia, I found myself seeking more and more truth going to more and more classes, reading more and more of the bible and really becoming deeply trapped by the "spiritual trapdoor". Then I went to the advanced class and Wierwille taught that seed of the serpent have their trapdoor wedged open.

Lori talked about "Travel by two"

Two by two was originally a Way Corps concept most notably on LEAD. LCM seemed to want the whole ministry to live by corps principles, so in 1992 he made it standard for WOW's then in the late 90' for the whole ministry.

  6. That's got to be from when Julian Bashir is running his James Bond-like "secret agent"

    holodeck progam.

I forget the title-it may be "Our Man Bashir", but I'm not absolutely certain.

My favourite character title from that one was that there's a chick named Honey Bare.

    WW is correct.

Sorry I was destracted by some personal stuff.

    Seth

  7. It doesn't involve time travel, here's another piece of dialog from a different character earlier in the show.

This is my personal valet, Mona Lovesit...she speaks seven languages has degrees in biology, chemistry, physics can fly anything from a jet to a helicopter and makes an excellent martini, cheers.

  8. "travel by two"

this came about during the Y2K, I think.

anytime you needed to go anywhere, do anything, you were supposed to travel with at least one other person. This became such a hindrance and snare, and I felt guilty if I "broke" the rule.

Actually you might be surprised to know this but the 2 by 2 started in the middle of the '92-'93 WOW year, right after one of the guys in our team left the field, his poor wife was in shock but stayed with the team. Funny how one person can effect the whole TWI policy. Can you say micromanagement?

    Seth

  9. and the really weird thing, i don't know if i ever told this on greasespot before, my uncle said the exact same thing when i was a child. how would wierwille know ?

The only thing I have for you is a hug, as big or little as you like, I'm not sure but I don't think I'm older then you. So take it or leave it I give you a hug.

[oh, should I derail my own thread? Seems to me VPW learned alot from those spiritualists and stayed tapped into the "lower power" how else would he know to say things that he did to so many?]

  10. Awesome this is great we are on track here, Potato nailed it, this is what is needed for healing first recognize there is a problem. Good stuff so far keep it coming.

BTW welcome Potato I'm honored to have your 5th post be the 5th post on this thread, :) no numerology just fact.

    Here's another one:

"Problem" in TWI we didn't have problems we had opportunities. I don't know what's wrong with the word problem, in math they are called problems that doesn't make them any harder to solve anymore then saying "I have a math opportunity" make it easier to solve.

"blessed" vs. "lucky" God forbid I be caught using the word lucky in casual conversation in the lobby of the Nerd over the World auditorium during the advanced class!

There were localized loaded language, especially in the mid to late '80's it seemed California had it's own set of words they used to trigger their people. Anyone care to contribute?

    Seth

  11. Hi Seth,

Have you already looked at the Way-speak + Greasespot-speak thread?

That's not what I am talking about, and as far as I can see most of the people on this board won't get it because they still use it. I'm talking loaded language here, most are clueless as to what it is, I refuse to think there are nothing but a bunch of mindless zombies lurking and posting here. If you don't know what I'm talking about google "loaded language thought control"

    Seth

  12. This should be fun, maybe easy and hopefully healing. I'm talking about identifying, defining, categorizing and emphasizing TWI buzzwords, wayspeak, the loaded language of a cult. I'll start.

Believe [bi-leev] - verb, To hold true anything VPW or other TWI leader teaches, to the end of taking action on such teachings. To teach others the same.

Unbelief [uhn-bi-leef] - noun, Not believing what VPW or other TWI leader teaches. Failing to do what TWI teaches, not living "The More Abundant Life", not tithing etc...

Spiritual [spir-i-choo-uhl] - adjective, Referring to the devil spirit world, any religion, any successful person or group not affiliated with TWI.

Off [awf, of] - adverb, Any TWI brother or sister who is not "in fellowship", TWI follower who may not be playing nice with local leadership.

Later I'll add how these words made me feel and how I acted because of it. I'll discuss how loaded language always caused me to stop my train of thought, (usually one that was healthy or at least normal) and start the TWI approved thoughts. Then I will talk about how I think about them now, and how I use these words without the thought stopping action.

Please add yours so we all can join in the discussion, I can't remember all the words TWI used to keep us in check so I really do need help here.

    Thanks,

    Seth

  13. Seth -- they may have incorporated in 1955,

but my 40th anniversary commemorative plate

gives the years 1942 to 1982.

That's what I was going off of. :)

You know what I mean, there has always been a little bait and switch going on over on the farm in New Knoxville. Years being fudged for credibility sake. From what I understand VP wanted to try and keep the year Emporia was established as the same year "The Way College" was founded, 1882 see this link so there's my point.

I'm guessing if VP could get away with it at the time he would have made the founding date of TWI the year his first ancestor immigrated from Europe to the United States.
