  1. We have covered car port, which keeps birds off the car. I also feed the birds. I could suggest a cover that you can wash/hose down every so often. That's what I would do if I didn't have the car port. Birds poop on stuff. If you have something over the car, (like a garage or car port, they can't poop on the car so easily.

  2. I think it's important to watch it all. $h!t happens, and some don't survive through no fault of their own. I trust God takes all of that into account. But sanitizing our vision, and making a Walt Disney cartoon and "everything is wonderful" doesn't really help anyone, and I think it builds unrealistic expectations, which is not healthy (such as twi doctrine that if you are sick it is because of your failure to "believe").

I thought the movie was pretty balanced. And I loved it. I have the DVD, and was just blessed to see it available on the web.

  3. The movie is not sanitized. You see the birds trying to get entangled from stuff and shot, and caught in the sludge. . . But they survive.

  4. A friend writes for The Examiner.com, an internet "newspaper," and she wrote a review of Noah which I thought was wonderful (I thought her review was wonderful, I haven't seen the movie ).

I thought the movie would be worth seeing to be there at the least to pray for people and be able to answer questions of anyone who wanted to know what really happened there.

However, when I posted it on Facebook I received a bunch of highly negative responses.

I wonder how you all think about it? (the review as well as the movie) Also I saw the trailer and thought that the movie made the concept of Noah a real thing, rather than the children's story book version which is in my head. And also Acts 17:11 (receiving the word with all readiness of mind and searching the scriptures whether those things were so), I hope will motivate people who see it to read it in the original and get an even better picture of what really happened.

(There is a device the theaters have, a portable captioning device, which sets in the cup holder and has a gooseneck so a deaf person such as myself can move it around to a comfortable reading position. I saw "The Son of God" and was so happy to be able to see it on the big screen and not need to wait until it came out on DVD.

  5. Received this in email today, and was reminded of so many nice things that the Holy Spirit has taught us, and thought you would like it.

    The Lesson Of The Geese

When you see geese heading south for the winter in the fall, flying along in the "V" formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way.

FACT;As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an "uplift" for the bird immediately following. By flying in the "V" formation, the whole flock has at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

LESSON:People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they areTraveling on the thrust of one another.

FACT: When a goose flies out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone. It quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front of it.

LESSON: If we have as much common sense as a goose, we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others. It is harder to do something alone than together.

FACT: When the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back into the formation, and another goose flies to the point position.

LESSON: It is sensible to take turns doing the hard and demanding tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities, and unique arrangements of gifts, talents, or resources.

FACT: The geese flying in formation honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

LESSON: We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek. We need to make sure our honking is encouraging and not discouraging.

FACT: When a goose gets sick, wounded, or s hot down, two other geese will drop out of formation with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their flock.

LESSON: If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by our colleagues and each other in difficult times as well as in good!

  6. Thanks, Sudo.

Steve Hill, a precious little one who passed away, often spoke and put into his written works the story of how, after he was born again, got involved in a Christian cult, and was repulsed by the hypocrisy of using "grace" as a license to sin. So thankful he had sense enough to quit that place. So wish I had sense enough to get out. (I probably wouldn't have left except Craig M@tind@ale kicked me out.) So sad that so many precious little ones stayed so long and had their ministries "way-laid." pi_cry.gif

  7. NO.

You were abused. Could you have made better choices? Probably. But you DIDN'T desrve it.

    George

(I was going to say a joke and say we did deserve it, but that is too ugly a statement to be funny.)

  8. Candy Cane recipes

Sweetener for coffee or tea is nice. (That's what I do with the little candy canes left over from Christmas.)

Take some to work for others.

There's gazillion recipes because peppermint is so very nice, with its fresh and clean sweetness.

  9. Karl Kahler on Facebook recently had a discussion about subject, with a bunch of ideas and suggestions from others.

I guess it is all in how you look at the stuff.

I put mine in the trash only because I couldn't burn it due to burn laws. But getting rid of the stuff certainly helped clear my head and allowed me to go forward.

    "good luck." :)

  10. The amazing new products address a need: prepare food better, perhaps. We needed to know The Lord and be able to read The Bible. We may not need a vegematic to slice, dice and chop food because there are other ways to get the same result. And we certainly did not need to be lured into a cult. I am thankful for the Bible, but so very sorry it came with so much hurt and dirt.

Steve Hill, a wonderful evangelist who recently passed away, spoke about how, when he was first coming to know The Lord, he was introduced to a group that spoke a lot of Bible, but was filled with hypocrisy because they didn't live it (drugs and sex instead of holiness), so he left that bunch because it didn't make sense, and ended up with some sound Christians, and he was able to do much for The Lord.

It makes me cry to think of how many wonderful people wasted that call of God upon them because all the hurt and dirt clouded us up. To me. It is so very sad.

  11. So sorry Excathedra pi_cry.gif

The first red flag that meant something was when I got a copy of pfal and really listened to it without the blinders of utmost devotion and heard the yelling and ugliness.

There were many I ignored, such as having so little family time for my real family, being isolated from my precious family that wasn't in twi, being yelled at (when Bible clearly speaks of us as sheep, who need a gentle hand), etc. etc.

I couldn't really see anything until after I was kicked out. Oh how I thank the Lord again and again for Trashnet, WayDale, and this here Greasespot Café.!!!!!

  12. Well. I am an Internal Auditor. When I lived in my first Way Home, some of us were taking stuff from the same company we all worked at (big business across the street). I would take the stuff back. I am also one who picks up trash on the street. So. That having been said: My opinion is that every fraud hurts everyone, including the fraudster. It's my opinion that you are helping everyone, including the fraudster who is your best friend, to keep things on the up and up.

Blue Bloods, a tv show I watch, last night deal with this same issue: Danny wanted to fudge a little, and during the family sunday evening dinner, the majority response was that there was no excuse for compromising one's ethics. And Danny "did the right thing," and it was all for the good.

It is my opinion that to hold one's voice when one has the opportunity to be heard on the side of doing the right thing, to not speak is to hurt one's own soul.

  13. SIDE NOTE RE CATHOLICS: Some of the nicest people I have known are Catholics, and many of the nicest ones in twi and ex-twi for me (then and now) had been raised Catholics. Judging from "you can tell a tree by its fruit" logic, it seems to me that Catholics are doing things truly right. That's one of the reasons I became a Catholic. I find Catholics are the ones in the world who care more about living as the Lord directs.

My Bible knowledge: I ras raised going to a Unitarian church, and there were only sermons on living nicely, nothing Bible. At home on Christmas and Easter, Dad would read the Bible (without commentary) So I trusted the Bible was true, but had no history with it, other than reading it, so I was prime gullible candidate for the "explanations" pandered by twi.

And because I was raised to simply believe what was written in the Bible, it never occurred to me that someone would use it for their own personal gain.

  14. Words fail me here. Steve Hill preached the Brownsville Revival in Pensacola Florida, 1995+, while I was still entombed in twi and twi mindsets. I missed the show, and most of the videos from then on utube are without captions. Watched the videos with captions and read some of his books and so hoped I would be able to see him live. Now I got to wait until I get to heaven. Even his memorial service, which will be streamed live from Brownsville over the internet on 3/14, is beyond me because there won't be captions.

One thing I learned from watching him pass away is that notice of "a man's gift makes room for him." And the heartbreaking sadness at missing him. Certainly Steve is happy now, but the world is much sadder.

Rest in peace Steve. Many thanks for your kindness into the world. So very sorry to see you go. pi_cry.gif

  15. So very glad, Skyrider, that you brought this kindness into people's life. Ice cream has always been for me the touch of God's happiness.

I am still getting nice laughs from Duck Dynasty. Hope you did have fun with your ice cream.

I wonder if we will have ice cream in heaven. Ice cream is definitely one of the blessings of life in the here and now. I have seriously cut down on my ice cream intake due to cholesterol concerns, definitely looking forward to the heavenly version. :)

  16. How precious is that. Reminds me of Proverbs 27:2, "Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips."

I continue to get a few good laughs from Duck Dynasty. twi is still no laughing matter judging from the posts here. A nice bowl of ice cream isn't even funny to their management. :)

  17. arrogance is one of the great killers of relationship with the Holy Spirit. Moses was meek above all men, and he knew the Lord face to face. Arrogance and its supercilious air is always my enemy because it's death to my relationship with the Holy Spirit, which is so very precious.

  18. I have few exway I've met here that I would consider friends. I have a lot of exway on my friends list on facebook.. a lot of them are the locals here. I tested my hypothesis last weekend. I posted an open invitation to a free chili and wine extravaganza. I think this would be equivalent to a well-stocked bar putting a "free beer" sign out in the street.. :biglaugh:/>/>

How many do you think came?

so. If I can't even bribe somebody with the promise of free beer..

    :biglaugh:/>/>

I'm not anywhere even near wallowing in self-pity here. I find this to be absolutely fascinating..

I got a few "likes" from friends mostly who are exway, whom I met outside of the ministry. I didn't expect them to drop everything and run from two, three and four states away.

The two here who might possibly have come.. work weekends and probably never saw the invitation..

maybe I have achieved the mark and avoid designation among those who attend the offshoots around here.

I don't think it's you at all. I think it's part of the effect of twi we have not dealt with.

Pawtucket did a major work of bringing folks together, physically, having a nice time, but I don't know how much of that kept on after he kinda lost interest. I know meeting some of the Greasespot Café folks was a precious life experience I cherish.

I would come, except I hardly go out. Being deaf makes communication so difficult it is much easier to hide than to face the music (which I can't hear any longer). Being forced to interact with people is one of the main reasons I am so thankful to have found a job, which keeps me communicating and interacting with people. I don't know what it is that makes up for a hermit type of life, but I think that whatever it is, it came over many people when we left twi. I was thinking that maybe it was some kind of heart-break of trust we experienced. (I totally trusted in twi.)

Thinking about that heart-break, I have gone back to praying for "the healer of broken hearts" to mend shattered dreams once again, for me as well as for so many broken hearted folks who were once a part of twi.
