  1. To Chwester: Did you ever see a post on Waydale about "God's Jukebox". It was a discussion I had started about "spiritual songs by secular bands." Black Sabbath did a song in 1971 called "After Forever" that was a Christian song. Ozzy sang "Well I've seen the truth and I've seen the light and I've changed my ways." I must also mention that on the "Beggar's Banquet" LP the Stones did a cover of Rev. Gary Davis' song "Prodigal Son" based on the famous parable.
  2. Happy Belated Birthday ! I hope you had a great day.
  3. I put on an LP for my son to hear and he asked me how you change tracks.
  4. "Fifth of Beethoven" was Walter Murphy. How about we go for real old and say "Sing, sing, Sing" by Benny Goodman or "Begin The Beguine" by Artie Shaw. I always get goosebumps when I hear those opening chords to "Ride The Tiger" by Jefferson Starship. And let's not forget "Mr. Tambourine Man" by The Byrds
  5. The wish may be late, lovely lady, but the feeling never changes. We're blessed by your being a part of this bunch and you always deserve the best every day of the year !
  6. Eddie and I had a band together back when he was a WOW on Long Island in the early 80's. I'd love to get back in touch with him ( and play together if he's in the Chicago area) Does anyone know where he is these days?
  7. If I remember correctly "Two Lane Blacktop" came out in 1971. James' co-star in that movie was Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. I guess they cast those two to attract a young audience. An interesting curiosity but not a great movie.
  8. Oakspear, if you read the credits on "Crossroads" you'll see it was Clapton, not Beck on "For Your Love".
  9. My daughter and I saw this today. I thought it was a lot more fun than the first movie. I wish I had read this thread first, I would have stuck around for the whole credits. I just stuck around long enough to see that Nick was played by John Cleese. I guess I'm showing my age but when Christopher Lee's name comes up I think of his work in those old Hammer Films horror movies where he played ( in one film or another) Dracula, the Mummy or the Frankenstein monster.
  10. I loved "Almost Famous". I think it really captured the feeling of the early '70's. "Twister" is one of my favorites. An obscure one I really liked was "Master Of The World" with Vincent Price. It was based on a book by Jules Verne. A recent favorite of mine for Halloween is "Dawn Of The Dead".
  11. I don't know what TWI said re: Lennon. However, one biography of Lennon said during his "house husband" period he started watching "700 Club" ( I think ) and got born again. His interest in Christianity was short lived ' cause Yoko put a stop to it. When Dylan put out "Gotta Serve Somebody" Lennon did a song called "Gotta Serve Yourself". That's all I know someone else probably knows more.

    Cat Food

Awhile back I had started a " mouse in the house" thread. This past Sunday we caught a second mouse. I showed it to our kitten and said "This is your job now 1"
  13. Are you serious ?!! Hey Manny, I'm at the center every Sunday. I sing in the chorus ( so does my wife), play bass in the band and my son helps run the sound. That's wild !

    Cat Food

This morning we got a black and white short haired kitten. He's sleeping while I'm typing this. Right now we're feeding him "Eukanuba" which is what he got at the pet store. We haven't decided on a name yet. We're thinking of naming him "Bob" after a friend of ours' who's allergic to cats !

    Cat Food

Thanks for the advice. I had cats 14 years ago. The cats I had then seemed to love meat. They used to love to eat the marrow out of the bone from a ham steak then use the bone as a hockey puck. Another cat loved to eat the meat left on a turkey thigh bone. Halfway through eating he would come rub against my hand and purr to say "thank you.

    Cat Food

I may be getting a cat soon and need some data. Does anyone know of a guide to which are the best cat foods from a nutritional point of view ?
  17. OK, I cleaned the lens. I don't know if that made a difference. The last CD I burned worked. I guess I just had a couple of bad blanks. I have one pack of blanks on a shelf against an outside wall. I noticed they felt cold during the winter. Would that mess up blank CDs ?
  18. I'll see if I can find "Freedom's Soil" as an MP3 (or else I'll have to record from cassette to the the computer). Does anyone know of any other "contemporary christian" songs that would be on this subject ?
  19. Hey Rafael ! I hope you had a great day. You definitely add a touch of class to this place !
  20. The last two CDs I burned sounded like scratchy LP's ( the songs were off CD's). What should I check for ?
  21. Thanks for the suggestions. My friend was looking for "contemporary christian" songs on that subject. Over at Kazaa I've found "We will stand" by Eric Horner, which I guess is the song you were talking about. I have the Musicmatch 7.2 and the latest edition of Roxio Easy CD creator so I have the capability to record LP's. I just wasn't sure how to do it. I'll play around with recording this week and see how it goes.
  22. I put together comp. CD's for fun and got a request from a friend. He'd like a collection of songs based on the theme "Blessed Is The Nation Whose God Is The Lord". I'd like some suggestions. Of course "God Bless The USA' would be there but I need some more songs. Does anyone know where I could get that song "Blessed Is The Nation" by the group Agape' as an MP3 ? (or tell me how to copy my old LP onto the computer) Any song suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    JOHN ENTWISTLE

When it came to bass players he was one of the greats. At the rehearsal of our "Praise & Worship" group I warmed up by playing the riff from "Boris The Spider" and was blessed that other people in the group recognised it.
  24. He was a piano player I knew from New York. Anybody know where he is these days ?

    New York

Born and raised in Levittown (DAHS class of '75), got into TWI there in the mid 70's. I've been in Illinois since '85 but still consider myself a Long Islander. My wife got into TWI in Larchmont in '74.
