  1. Sunesis, ahh, we should have had better communications, like AIM back then. We could have joined all our little "parties" and had a bonfire outdoors somewhere. I am sure there were pockets of stealth meetings all over the place.

So many in our Corps were strict and by the book. I found some of these wild 9th Corps ones and begn undershepherding them. My wife (sickth Corps) is taking our picture and was my designated driver.

  2. DLP definitely. Cheaper and better than plasma. The one Tom has is awesome. Here is mine (same brand, Samsung) but I only had room for a 50".

    Samsung 50" with computer

And by the way it's not a half bad computer screen either if you wanna get into all that geek stuff like I enjoy. I have XP and Greasespot shown on mine in the picture.

But the best picture of ALL tv pictures is the good old CRT style. That is if you have a modern one. The largest they make is a 36" and they are heavy as hell and deep. But you will not find a better picture. We decided on a 36" Sony for our bedroom. It has a flat screen and it is an awesome picture from all angles. (But they suck as computer monitors.)

But no doubt the coolest looking TV is a flat one.

Oh, and if you want big.....real big...look into projectors. They have come down in price and are producing some outstanding pictures today using DLP and LCD technologies.

  3. Maybe more meta tags will get it moved back.

TWI, Way, The Way, The Way International, no Way out, Way out there, LCM, Craig, Rozilla, Headquarters, Farm in Ohio, Beautiful Ohio, ROCKA Ages, BRC,

  4. Indeed, Skyrider. Thanks, Pawtucket and others who have cared enough to share their hearts honestly. Why should the truth be shrouded? Is there somethng to hide?

Just a couple of weeks ago I got an email from yet another young couple who had finally left TWI. They had been in for years but could no longer tolerate the hypocrisy concerning debt. They simply wanted to buy a house. Can you blame them? There were other issues too.

Anyway, they have been reading things on Greasespot for a while and I guess they got my email address from here. They seem like a nice couple, just starting out. They said they feel such relief!

There is a place for a site like this. It has helped thousands come to grips with difficult decisions and experiences. It's like therapy. Plus if a fun gathering spot to meet old friends and make some new ones.

  5. :biglaugh::biglaugh:

Now I should have known that Tuttle would be spinning a few yarns in this context.

May I be permitted to post a picture of an alternative believers meeting that was being held at a smoke filled hotel room in St. Marys whilst larger crowds were gathered on grounds at a certain Corps Week?

    Corps Week 1983

What is that, a Heinekin I am holding? And is that a bottle of Tonic I see on the table in front of excathedra and Tuttle? No, don't be fooled. It was for baptism and annointing. Not a guilty thought in our heads. We were doing the lords work, undershepherding one another.

:biglaugh: (I was raised strict Catholic too , ex.)

  6. Geez Rick, lighten up. I grew up in "Cornfield Kentucky" on a farm and I saw that statement that as non-ofensive. It's easy to see the context.

But really, I have often thought that TWI would have been better off in or near a metropolitan area rather than out in the sticks in those cornfields (like the kind I grew up in.) Just didn't seem like the best place for a Headquarters for anything except maybe John Deere or Caterpillar. Remember this was long before the Internet and email and such. Counter productive to be out there in my opinion. Could have grown even faster and larger I think.

At one time VPW was considering Naples, FL or somewhere around here. He should have went with that gut feeling. The real estate alone would be worth a fortune today! And we would have all had nice tans and would have bought condos which would have skyrocketed. :biglaugh:

So back to the topic, the youth of those days really put TWI on the map. Today it appears that the youth are leaving TWI instead of being attracted to it. Maybe its time to close it down and reopen it as something different. To me that would be honest and a wise move.

  7. Some excellent observations. But it is late and I only have time for a quick joke this topic reminded me of:

Three gay men died, and were going to be cremated. Their lovers happened to be at the funeral home at the same time, and were discussing what they planned to do with the ashes.

The first man said, "My Benny loved to fly, so I'm going up in a plane and scatter his ashes in the sky."

The second man said, "My Carl was a good fisherman, so I'm going to scatter his ashes in our favorite lake."

The third man said, "My Jim was such a good lover, I think I'm going to dump his ashes in a pot of chili, so he can tear my axx up just one more time."

    :biglaugh:

  8. Hello Skyrider. Nice to see you again. Yeah, those were the days indeed. I am not sure if we will ever be able to sort it all out. But as good as it was, it could have been better if it had truly been a clean ministry starting at the top with good role models for us impressionable youth.

Truthfully, underneath all the teachng and bible verses was a lot of corruption and hypocrisy in my opinion. It was almost like lawlessness at times. We knew we were "heaven bound" and yet there was a certain freedom and permissiveness that was unspoken. Looking back it seemed to come from the top.

This was appealing to some of us youth. In fact it was downright fun at times. There were a lot of good people and good times but behind the scenes there was also a lot of casual sex, a lot of adultery and promiscuity, a lot of alchoholism, a lot of smoking, a lot of "turn the other cheek and look the other way", and a lot of don't ask, don't tell", not to mention the extreme self-righteousness.

Perfect environment for some of us! What young person wouldn't join! But it had negative effects in the long run as we saw in later years. Don't call yourself a christian group and live that way. That goes for all christian groups and churches, not just TWI. (There were others.) It is a formula for disaster. The hypocrisy sooner or later begins to become clear and does more harm than good.

I would never have wanted my children to have joined such a group, even in its good old days.

  9. Power struggle between these two men, plain and simple. Neither won. Both are losers. In my opinion both had serious mental issues that they never dealt with and maybe were never even aware of. Both are known to have been abusive to many.

What astounds me is that many people in spin-off groups to this very day day hold CG in high esteem as the man who carries the spritual torch.

The TWI party began to come to a close at that point with Waydale later exposing some of what went on at the party. It was high time for it to end so some of us could finally sober up.

  10. Hmmm. Tough question for me. There were sooooo maaaaany. Where do I begin?

Well, two of my most memorable were Word in Business in New Orleans and a crazy weekday night in Emporia in residence. Both involved stayng out all night partying till sun up. (They NEVER had another Word in Business in New Orleans after that!)

In Emporia we barely made it back from the discos and clubs in time to go running with the in-residence group who had gathered by the hundreds at 5:30 am. We blended right in because we had our sweats with us and changed in the cars and no one was he wiser. (We were practicing the revelation manifestations.)

Interestingly, Excathedra was at both these memorable events along with a handfull of others. Maybe she will remember. (Maybe not.)

    John R.

  11. Yes, there were some really good ones. Like John Richxxx in Florida who was never mean. Whatever happened to him, anyway? :biglaugh:

Sadly. some of the original good ones became, mean old bastards as the legalism and hypocrisy saturated their lives without their knowing it. They were miserable really.

Sometimes they changed back to being good people AFTER they left TWI. I am sure even LCM himself is a different person today albeit with a tornado-like path left behind him.

  12. Pawtucket, do you find that your IP address changes frequently on you FIOS? Mine changes almost by the hour at one location. But at my other location it stays the same for days.

I gotta get that resolved. I am thinking it might be a hardware issue. Verizon is investigating. Any clues? It is a nice SMC Router at both locations, not the D-Link one they provide.

My friend just got the "higher speed" Fios and he is very pleased. I am going to upgrade soon too but still testing the waters. Awesome speed.

  13. A few more jokes to lighten things hopefully. I didn't writ the the book, Rodney did in this case.

"Last night my wife met me at the front door. She was wearing a sexy negligee. The only trouble was, she was coming home."

"A girl phoned me and said, "Come on over. There's nobody home." I went over. Nobody was home!"

"A hooker once told me she had a headache."

"I went to a massage parlor. It was self service."

"If it weren't for pick-pocketers, I'd have no sex life at all."

"I was making love to this girl and she started crying. I said, "Are you going to hate yourself in the morning?" She said, "No, I hate myself now."

  14. Nice posts! Now send me some of them godd_damn (thanks for showing me how to curse on line ex) pictures so I can continue to embarass us all!! :biglaugh:

That's as nice as I can say it.

And hey I want some more of the 9th too. Both old and new.

  15. Jenkinson attends an offshoot somewhere in the Northeast. He also taught at CFF a time or two. It is my opinion that those kind of men are cowards. I personally consider him a coward until such time that he publicly acknowledges he was wrong and offers remorse or apologies. I have a feeling too much pride is in the way for him to do that.

  16. Socks,

Oh, those rollovers are possessed with a spirit of Front Page 2000. And when I try to click on one of the pictures the damn thing changes again.

And what's the difference between What's New and Current News? And shouldn't they say What's the Way and What's Available to stay consistent.

And this may be directed at you Socks so listen good....from Terms and Conditions:

"In the event of termination, you are no longer authorized to access this Web site"

  17. Socks, weren't you beheaded one time way back in the old days by accident? Then healing was ministered and you were (sort of) ok? Wasn't that the story? Oh, those were fun times, you oldies man.

Yeah, what you said about music. It was all over the place back in the day, everywhere you turned. Inspirational music coming from the joy within. No music= no inspiration= no fun.

    Off topic:

Hey, I saw you had a quote by James Brown earlier under your post. Did you know I got his autograph in 1986 when we were working at a hotel? He wrote "To John & Family. God bless. James Brown."

    Good God!!!

  18. Shut up a minute, Walter.

    I don't see it.....lemme get my glasses.

    Ok, now I do.

Walter, please continue #79, join in everybody.... like a great organ!

  19. "the adversary's diery farts". Ha! :biglaugh:

I consider you a prophet, my friend.

This thread is inspired, comma, by god.

Ya'll should copy it and put it on CD for posterity. It could be broken up into chapters and verses and bound with gold leaf and wide margin for note taking.

  20. I am all for optimistic ideals. But to salvage TWI would mean drastic changes from the top down as Catcup alluded to.

In my opinion, to start with they would need to close TWI and reopen it under a new name with new (younger) leadership that is not BORING. Like it or not, their reputation as The Way appears to be ruined FOREVER all over the Internet and therefore all over the world. That can not be undone.

Secondly they would need a new approach as to what they would do for people and what they would offer. It can't include any of the problematic docrtrinal errors of the past, such as the enormous errors in WAP and PFAL. Why does it need to be crusty old biblical research and classes in the first place? I fall asleep thinking about greek and aramaic and figures of speech and all the other so called important stuff.

Get rid of it all. Especially that bland, green non-interactive web "place hoder" they call a site. Start something totally new and open to the public. Do not let "old timers" anywher near the decision making process. And if anyone memorizes or reads their teachings or sharings as the current president does put them out to pasture where they belong. Let them read to elderly seniors in rest homes where it might do some good.

Ha, ha, ha, ha. I laugh knowing that will never happen in a million years.

Honestly it would be easier and perhaps more successful to just start your own group. For example, CFF probably by now has as almost many loosly based "followers" after only 5 years than TWI has after 50 plus years.

Other churches have tens of thousands after only a short time. It is because they are open and available to the public in service. They are dynamic and spiritually alive. Not just a bunch of old, boring middle aged bible quoters who sit on their butts studying too much.
