I've been casually following this thread and... This may seem like a snotty question but I've always wondered.. why was it Jesus' resurrected body still had the hole in the side where he got the spear? You know.. where Thomas thrust his hand? And the nail prints? Some body. Hmmph!

If you look at the story, these folks are absolutely 100% dead certain that the rapture is happening May 21st. I can't understand their certitude. Do they really have a little doubt deep down but aren't expressing it? They have quit jobs, spent their life savings.... I just don't understand their faith. Even back in my believer days I didn't have believing like this. Its like the Muslim suicide bombers whose faith is so strong they will commit suicide believing they are going immediately to Heaven as martyrs. I don't guess faith can really be explained, huh?

Hey! It's a good thing we couldn't capture him immediately after 9/11 10 years ago. Had we done that and convicted him of murder.. he'd still be on death row with lots of appeals still to go!

That looks like a higher percentage of non-Christians than in the general population. Makes you wonder why being a part of TWI at one time led people to reject their faith, huh?

Don't know exactly what you are looking for but you might be interested to know about the recent push by British atheists to get non-religious people to just admit that on their census. Here's a LINK. I was following some comments on another site there that indicated some non-theists are loathe to admit it for various reasons. Kinda' like secular Jews will always say they are Jewish even if they don't believe the religious aspects, as Ham brought up, there are secular Christians, too. They'll say they are Christian in a broader sense but don't believe in any kind of a Christian God.

Back before the internet was widespread, I logged on through a 2400BPS modem to the Prodigy network. That was where I first participated in online forums or bulletin boards. You had to have a first and last name on the Prodigy boards and (not wanting to be know) used the name Sudo Nim. Ever since then, I've been plain Sudo or Sudo2u. I thought I was just so clever. Hee-hee!

I have to give TWI credit for something good, Tony. It helped me learn how to separate truth from error. Looking at it from a distance as Socks pointed out gives a totally different view. You've heard of the phrase, "can't see the forest for the trees"? It seems pretty obvious to me that there's no meaningful differences in the world's major religions and that they are all contrivances. Others see it differently, or course. Naw... personally I don't think there ARE any gods or devils. Never were. Live and let live, Tony. Enjoy the only life you know for sure you have and do what you can for others.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I don't check in here as often as I once did but no.. I don't believe there are spirits lurking around. I USED to believe just that, though, back when I was in TWI. Now its something I admit only sheepishly (and more than a little embarrassed) to folks who didn't know me back then. Do you know how that sounds to tell people you don't know that there are little gremlins taking control of people and making them do things? Pretty bizarre.
