  1. Ha, I just checked on the net for pictures and info on the difference between a wasp and hornet's nest and I definitely have a hornets nest !! I'll try some of the ideas you GS's came up with also and see what happens...............hey I could display it in a clear plastic bag and keep the little buggers contained....NOT!!

Here's exactly what the nest looks like, size and all................................

    http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http...l%3Den%26sa%3DG

  2. What if I sprayed the inside of a bag with wasp spray, put the nest back in the bag, put the bag on top of my dryer so that the heat will bring them out of hibernation and they would die in the bug spray ? They are a pretty fair size wasp and when you kill (squish them) them, the smell is just unbearable!!

  3. Holy crap!!!!! I just checked on it and there were 6 more coming out of it..........I think the nest is loaded with them..........what do I do? I still want the nest but minus the wasps!

  4. I was out for a walk in the woods a few days ago and I came across this huge, old, totally intact, abandoned wasp's nest, it's really a cool looking nest!! Anyways, I climbed up the tree to retreive it as I though it would be pretty neat to display inside my home, well it turns out the nest wasn't quite as abandoned as I thought, cause as I was driving home I could see the wasps starting to come out of it but only 5 came out, not too scarey, I think the heat from inside my vehicle brought them out of hibernation (we've had a few chilly nites here) When I got home I put the nest inside a green garbage bag and sealed it up tight and left it inside hoping the heat would draw what's ever left in the nest and when they come out, they would suffocate in the bag (not trying to be cruel here) I really thought the nest was totally empty. Anyways to make a long story short, I would still like to display it inside my house but when I did the thing with the bag there were 3 more still alive.................so I want to know what else can I do to get rid of what's ever left and be able to hang it in my home ?

    Suggestions anyone?

  5. Larry you said

"I find it ironic that for a group of people who think it's their business what the leaders of TWI and CES do, someone would make this kind of argument. For a group of people who complain that they weren't allowed to question the decisions and policy of leaders of the same two groups to say that I have no right to challenge the policy of the leaders (moderators and/or administrators) of Greasespot imo seems hypocritical. "

I totally agree with what you said, gets a little stuffy around here at times, kind of cliquish, wouldn't you say?!

  6. Vickles.....great post !!

When I read it, this poem came to mind, don't know if you've heard it before, I have framed on my living room wall, one of my favourites !

    Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick flowers in other people's gardens

    And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

  7. Would someone do me a huge favor........puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze? I'm looking for the song "Just Once More" by the Nelson Brothers, I want the accoustic version NOT the live version and I've searched high and low and all I can find is little bits and pieces of it, if it's possible I'd like the whole song but NOT the live version. Wherever you can find it, that would be fantastic !!!

    Thanks so much!!!

  8. Rascal...................for starters, in all honesty I really don't care who agrees with me or who doesn't, I have finally reached that point in my life, I don't need someone's approval to feel good about myself. So if everyone here at GS totally disagreed with me, that's cool, my selfworth is not wrapped up in someone's opinion of me, I am not here to win a popularity contest.

You said "Let`s each participate in a manner that doesn`t interfere with someone elses blessing and growth...rather than trying to slap down people whom we don`t agree with." I haven't slapped anyone down as you put it, I was asking you a personal question, what has it done for you in your own personal life to keep living in the past, rehashing this stuff?

You also said "It is however, a big mistake to assume that my input, or that of any other poster here it is not of value to someone else.

Why is it up to any of you to decide who`s input is of benefit or merit?? "

I never said someone's input was of no value, I wanted to know what good is it doing in your life to keep going back there?

Anyways Rascal, I'm out of this thread, save your breath, you don't need to respond back, I feel some people are just skirting around the issue whenever I ask what good is all this REHASHING doing for yourself, I'm not asking about all the innies it might save, but your own lives.

  9. Rascal, I'm curious as to who stopped posting because of Bumpy's input ?? If anything, it's the little clique group that gets there panties in a knot because someone challenges them with moving on in life instead of dwelling on the past that's driving people away, same ole' people same ole' argument. Let me ask you in all honesty, what has it done for your own life to keep going back there and rehashing TWI days......................yea yea yea, I know it's helped some innies by reading the stuff, but what good has it done for your own life? Isn't there a scripture somewhere about not dwelling on the past and reaching forward? I betcha if I came back hear in 10 yrs that little clique group would still be here rehashing the same stuff, doesn't there come a time in your life when you say enough is enough?

  10. Thanks so much Skyrider and Acts 2............................here are two other pictures, one is a giant treasure map on my patio that I just completed, it made it into the local paper, which was a real treat, and the other picture is JUST A FRACTION of the driftwood that I have collected this summer..............lots more trips ahead before the winter sets in!!

Hmmmmmm, for some reason I can't post those two pics maybe they're too big, maybe someone can help me, but it has to be in layman terms, no fancy lingo, lol!!

  11. TheHighway................here's a picture of one of my driftwood projects I've been working on, it's called "Cattails in the Wind", I have some more pieces on the go and will post them when they are complete. Each piece that I complete wiil have a name to it that I have engraved on another piece of driftwood.

  12. "Has anybody considered that we made *the word* into an idol?

I mean it seemed like if we read it enough...if we searched it enough....ran verses through our mind enough ..THEN we would be spiritual beings...

Maybe it`s just me....but I feel like I went to the scriptures fro all of my answeres instead of forming that relationship with God.

I mean to me...the word became the end all be all, rather than a guide that led us to God."

Rascal..............I couldn't agree with you anymore, I think you just nailed it on the head!!!

  13. Without me having to go through this whole thread, can someone answer this for me, does pot have the same effect on you as alcohol when you've had just a few too many to drink, what I'm trying to ask is does pot impair your judgement like alcohol does when you are driving?

  14. TheHighWay............................WOW!!!!!!! That's incredible work!!!!! Unbelieveable !!!

I'm just starting out building stuff, small items and I have also started a bit of carving some pieces of driftwood that already already resemble something, I'm just enhancing it a bit more, more along the lines of what Jonny Lingo was sharing in the other thread about his friend. I'm such an amateur at this stuff, but I'm loving it. I have so many ideas right now for it and I will get some pictures up to to give you an idea of what I'm working with.

  15. Or how about a saudering kit, does the tip come in different thicknesses, the wood burning kits come with different tips, if a saudering tool comes in a resonable thickness for printing letters into wood, can you press down into the wood with a saudering tool like you wood a woodburning tool?

  16. I want to know if wood burning kits come in different temperature ranges, I have one but it doesn't seem to really burn the wood all that well, especially when I am doing lettering and faces on driftwood.
