  1. Hi Everybody;

    Does this include me?

    Right now I'm busy packing for the move to Fl. to be with my beloved Moony

    And at present think I should post on the prayer thread. Whew what a job packing up all this stuff.

    I hear George Carlin's routine about Stuff Don't forget MY stuff and I think I hear the store calling my name besides. :blink:

    So will not be on line much but of course the computer will be the last thing to get unplugged

    In the meatime you all keep on a truckin'

    Love To You All

    Ted :)

    :wub:

  2. Rick, that's the name of the song (Sunday Morning Sunshine) it's on "Sniper and Other Love Songs" as well...

    For those of you without any (or enough) Harry Chapin in your collection, get the double CD, it has most of his stuff... both well known and obscure...

    That is one of my favorites also Rick. BTW, I have the double CD called Harry Chapin Greatest Stories Live.

  3. So... after 70 degrees out yesterday here in Columbus, what was with the small blizzard we had this morning on our morning commute to work??!! What a weird state.

    Ted, that's another good reason to move down here.

  4. Mary is a pretty lady ! The woman I'm currently dating is a dead ringer for her......
    I thought TED was engaged to moony? You're dating her too? :confused:

    And maybe I have a split personality. :rolleyes:

  5. Sunshine On My Shoulders

    by John Denver

    Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy

    Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry

    Sunshine on the water looks so lovely

    Sunshine almost always makes me high

    If i had a day that i could give you

    I'd give to you a day just like today

    If i had a song that i could sing for you

    I'd sing a song to make you feel this way

    Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy

    Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry

    Sunshine on the water looks so lovely

    Sunshine almost always makes me high

    If i had a tale that i could tell you

    I'd tell a tale sure to make you smile

    If i had a wish that i could wish for you

    I'd make a wish for sunshine all the while

    Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy

    Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry

    Sunshine on the water looks so lovely

    Sunshine almost always makes me high

    Sunshine almost all the time makes me high

    Sunshine almost always

  7. story about a town called Zion, Illinois, which was basically run by a religious sect. These people supposedly believed that the earth was flat and the sun was 30 miles from the earth and that you could get arrested for swearing on Sunday and that as recently as 1948 the Illinois Highway Patrol would actually warn motorists about this town. I've never heard anything about this town outside of that book.
    On New Year's Day 1900, John Alexander Dowie announced to the church he had established in 1896, the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church, that he planned to build a utopian city on a tract of land at the extreme northeastern edge of Illinois.

    When Zion City was incorporated in 1902, 5,000 inhabitants joined the Christian utopia. Zion City was to be communitarian and theocratic, a place of Christian cooperation, racial harmony, and strict fundamentalist morals. Dowie desired that Zion City be free of crime and vice. Dowie instituted the “Zion City Lease,” which forbade gambling, theaters, and circuses, as well as the manufacture and sale of alcohol and tobacco. In addition, the lease banned pork, dancing, swearing, spitting, politicians, doctors, oysters, and tan-colored shoes. Whistling on Sunday was punishable by jail time. The ban against medical doctors reflected Dowie's belief in “divine healing.” Many of the original settlers in Zion City, primarily of Dutch, German, and Irish origin, had been attracted to the community because of Dowie's reputation as a “faith healer.”

  8. Neighborhood crime, or the perception that their neighborhood is unsafe, can keep residents from the exercise they need, U.S. researchers report.

    Respondents who believed they lived in a low-crime neighborhood were 30 percent to 50 percent more likely to meet the U.S. Surgeon General's recommendations for physical activity than people who believed they lived in a high-crime neighborhood.

    The study also found:

    About 19 percent of respondents cited crime or fear for personal safety as a barrier to physical activity;

    People who did not perceive crime or fear for personal safety as a barrier to physical activity were about 40 percent more likely to meet physical activity recommendations;

    There was no difference between men and women in terms of associations between levels of physical activity and perceptions of neighborhood crime or fear for personal safety.

    I guess the people in the survey never heard of exersize videos or gyms. :rolleyes:
