I've realized by reading other versions (you mean there actually are Bible out there that are NOT King James!! icon_eek.gif) That a lot of the "literals" are out of the Amplified Bible. Is that why they didn't want us to use any other one. So that we would know they weren't doing all this "research" to make the TWI Bible like they were talking about?

Really stinks when you have to stoop to the level of duping your own kids to run a class. "Here, you can be 'blessed' just like mom and dad (said with a glazed empty look in the eyes).."

Probably have the poor suckers earn the money for the class by cleaning the branch guys yard, cleaning out his pool, and digging out his antiquated septic system..

    With a smile!

I have seen stuff like that..

I did that with my own daughter about 10 years ago. She used her babysitting money. banghead.gif

  3. It seems like just yesterday (maybe it was) that I saw him in an ad doing gymnastics. Then again, maybe an 84 year old isn't supposed to do gymnastics. icon_frown.gif:(--> Anyway Frank, here's to the man that put chicken on the map.

Thank you for posting on this subject and since you do work in a hospice, have you witnessed how people go when they are denied food AND water? If so, would you be able to answer this:

    1) Are they in pain?

That's part of what hospice does is make sure that the patient is as pain-free as possible. As I'm sure you heard, she was given morphine. Even though, it was reported as being a miniscule amount, it was for comfort measures.

    2) Would you describe anyone you've seen in this condition as "peaceful"?

From what I heard, this was considered what is described as a "good death". This is part of the aim of hospice, that the end of life is as smooth and peaceful as possible.

    3) How can you tell if the patient is conscious?

I'm not sure if you are talking about before or after death. Of course after death, a person isn't conscious. Are you asking conscious as in awake or aware of what's going on.

  5. Let me try to give you another perspective. I happen to work at the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast (the real name of the hospice). Because of federal HIPPA laws, I can't talk about any specific about any particular patient, but I can tell you that most of what the public has been getting has NOT been acurate. The public gets only what the media lets them have.

This hospice is the only hospice in Pinellas County, as there is a state law that specifies that there can only be one hospice per county. Woodside (which is only one of the many hospice teams) has approx 70 beds (and these are usually full). That means that there all these other families that have to go through all the crap just to see their loved ones, sometimes missing their deaths because of being held-up. Which side am I on? I'm on the side of ALL my patients and ALL their family members. (Yes, that means both sides of HER family too.)

BTW, about the clippits of the film they always show, it was made in 2001. There is a reason why they only show that small portion of a six-hour video.

  6. When my oldest was only 9 months (he's close to 30 now), I went to a Sunday night hook-up. Of course it was required, along with the baby. No babysitters for twi'ers, the children had to hear the Word no matter how young. Well part of the way through the meeting (before the hook-up the was the usual prayer, songs, then after another teaching by the branch leader (unmarried, childless, male corp grad). He got tired and hungry (I didn't expect the meeting to last so long and only had a bottle for him, not a meal). We went to a bedroom of the house so the others weren't disturbed. After the meeting, the branch leader came up to me and told me that I had to get my child "into subjection" so he'd act better. Then I asked him, "Since you've learned much more in the corp about this than I've learned, could you tell me how to get a tired, hungry 9 month old into subjection?" (Don't remember my tone of voice: whether in ernest or sarcastic) icon_rolleyes.gif:rolleyes:--> Anyway, he didn't answer, just walked away.

Their reasoning (the same with having a pet) is that if you had a mortgage, you wouldn't be able to travel extensively (at your expense) at the drop of a hand in a glove (ie wow, corp, etc) Of course, you wouldn't be able to get a really good job, because you couldn't stay at any job for more than a year.

After all these years, I'm still asked why I had jobs in all those places and moved so often and if I plan on staying here!!

  8. I try to move on with my life. I go to a good church, I work full time at a hospice (yes, THAT hospice in FL), and I go to school part-time. Come to think about it, I think a big reason that I don't post as much is that I'm too busy. icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

  9. I was using a cd in my computer this morning when I heard and felt a pop. My cd had shattered inside my computer! I've never heard of that happening before. Anyone know what might have happened & if it could happen again.

  10. Lindy,

Then I probably know you. I twigged there from about 92 to about 94. I didn't live that far from there. I went with my two daughters. I think one time my then boyfriend came with his son.

  11. Hey Michael

I haven't seen Dan in many moons (bad pun). Then again, I also haven't kept up with my ex (also in the quartet) Ron Moon, since we divorced back in the 80's & I moved from the northwest. I did hear that he remarried, but wouldn't marry her until she took the class. Have you heard anything about him (is he in or out)?
