Hi...JJ here...spending a little part of the winter down in southern Florida..One of the main reasons I come this way is because of the abundance of horshoe players & CLAY pits down here...I was just curious if any of you (male or females) "like" or love the game as I do..

Up in Indiana...we have different leagues that one can belong to..same down this way..so its a real good way to meet good people with a commmon interest.

Also, 80% of the people who throw in this league down here in Florida are "snowbirds", and you can see by their faces that they are quite tickled to be thowing shoes in 70 degree weather while back home its probably not gonna top 30 for a high!! God Bless JJ

Yep..skyrider, the game is a hoot...as I never partiscipated much until my mid 30's..and finally I ran into enough players where I discovered that many leagues have gone with a handicap system, so that when you're playing a much better player than yourself..that its actually fairer...since he spends alot of the game trying to catch you (similar to the bowling HCP they now use)...so the competitiveness is really fun..We throw in Blue Clay up in Ft WAyne & down here in Sebring Fl...but many here are still "slidin' them in" in the sand...yuk!!

Also a few beers in hand on a hot summer day just for the fun of it is a cure all for everything...uh huh/.... ;^) JJ

Shellon...it couldn't have been THAT bigga knot..after all they are only 2 & l/2 oz in weight...it does smart for sure...especially if you get hit in the ankle or shin...I was in a tournament once & 5 minutes into it my partner got me in the shin...threw terribly after that & paid big bucks to play!! hahaha

I think the thing I love about shoes is the quiet time of practicing by myself, and how a person can just shut out everything else going on in one's world...as a good h-shoer needs to concentrate on his/her game.. I also love the many many new & good friends I have made in traveling around..its a commonality of sorts & most of these people are either farm people or older people who played it forever...but its definitely NOt an "old mans game" by any means..as I've played ll year old champions & gotten a good whippin' JJ

Wow...Shellon..in da head eh??..I once saw a 6'8" guy take it flat in the chest but never in the head...wowowow..

Sky..yep I throw what's called a 3/4 turn shoe...I started out flippin' for a few years & just watching the good throwers realized that turning the shoe was the way to go...also had SOOOOOOOOOO many good ringers come off flippin' them!! I want to learn a turn and l/4 shoe down the road, as its a very good shoe & there's alot of hot shots that preach it...upside is, it won't hurt you doctrinally!!! LOL..JJ
