  1. Ex,

I thought that was 5 tracks in the sand! From one of them He-Men types, ya know, like the Nephilim that was destroyed because they were nihilists.

  2. I spoke with Chip about ten years ago. He was history Professor at James Madison Univ. in Virginia.

He may have moved on since then.

He was married, and they had twin girls. He really loved history, and his family, and was also active in the Presbyterian church there.

He could not believe that I had not been able to put the BS of the way behind me as of 1995, and I left in 1986.

Remember, Cynic, he was good on that there BBall court at South Charleston.

  3. I have been watching you guys slack off lately in keeping this thread moving.

    Where is your Kork Spritz?

Ex is the only one who is not sleeping at the swish.

  4. I agree wit alfakat on the legacy of Vic.

When we die Vic's legacy goes down into the ground and gets buried...he will be an unknown.

He wasn't a Paul, or a Peter, or a Luther, or Wesley, or Calvin, or anywhere near those men. He ain't even near this generation's Oral Roberts or Derek Prince or Kenneth Copeland.

And the Bible he taught was far from error free. Far from it.

And may I add the Raf and Jerry have done a lot good work in the arena of Piffle.

  5. Well, ok, Mocha Tree Girl, but I thought the Catholic church was the entire body of Christ (or Bride....save that one for the doctrinal thread, OK?).

So to distinguish the Pope's flock from the rest of us who are not members of that organization I say the Roman Catholic church (including all its subdivisions...Jesuits, Latin Rite, etc.)

I had this discussion and with my Pastor (Protestant non denominational)and even he referred to himself as a member of the Catholic church which is the entire Universal Church.

So to me, RCC is correct when referring to the group that has it's HQ in Rome. Unless, if you are RCC, then there is no other Church, I think, officially. Like us Protestants, or Greek Orthodoxers, and so on.

Now back to the Pope! (heh)

  6. Hi Raf,

I'm browsing important forums like "friend finder" and the hilarious "ninth kork" thread, and reading stuff on your site. We oughta try and hook up for a Marlins game or come out on my boat (before I sell it this fall-28 ft., twin Yamaha 200's, offshore vessel)for a day.

But as to this thread: I have watched this Pope travel the world and have personal one on one's with world leaders and dictators to try and bring about change.

He's really worked hard, and has tried to restore broken relationships from as far back as WWII and perhaps further.

As far as the RCC's doctrine: I disagree with a lot of it, but I still respect and, I guess in some way, admire this Pope for what he has tried to do, and because of his hard work.

  7. Hey Jonny,

I had dinner with him in S. FL. around 1988. He was out and doing art work or something, in the Sante Fe area.

Hi sister lives down here in Hollywood.

He was finally free to express himself and be himself in every regard, if you catch my drift, without fear.

He was doing OK. Haven't seen or heard anything since.

  8. I remember Todd doing that....what a hoot.

I'd tell some stories but I'm a two fingered typist....take too long.

Thanks for the compliments Jonny...and I loved anybody's car in those days, especially the ones we could drink beer in...like Chr*s Rawl*ins van..heh.

  9. Why Jonny....I didn't know you was a fake clergymanual? How could you?????

After we graduated and was at cork week, a bunch of us went out drinking one night (imagine dat!) and I ran into Pat L*nn, and while we was all tossing them back she says

"You coulda been a Cork coor. at Emporia...you was a real sharpie, but you lost your edge...it just disappeared after your interim year. You know, you coulda been a real Hotdog."

I thought, "If I gotta bust people and do all dat upper echelon BS to be a cork coor. then I am GLAD I lost my edge."

And I still consider her comment that night over twenty years ago a compliment and a Badge that I wear proudly when I think of it.

BTW, my interim year was at HQ...now how on earth could I lose my edge at dat place?

After HQ, I was tired of the BS, and was so miserable our last year that all I wanted to do was make it to graditation......I figured it had to better on the field. Heh NOT.

Jonny, do you remember at Emporia how Pat L*nn always beat the 10th cork down, and how she made us clean and clean and clean and it was never ever good enough?

Well, dem days is gone, and I could write about some wild and fun times, and maybe I wiull later, but the fun stuff was with the people, Cork or uncorked, ....not by doing the rules and regs. Amen

  10. my first year in the 10th we ate everything that was set in front of us...the portions were about right5 for a 100 lb. female on a diet.

I ate the broccoli millet casserole gladly. I ate everything except the liver...even ate the borscht.

The 11th Corps had John Lynn there and that's when it changed.

I lost 30 lbs in the first two months. You 'member that, Jonny Lingo?

Never knew what constant hunger was till the Corpse in residence.

But gee, some of the incidents are hilarious, and most of the people were great.

There i was, standing on the Wierwille Library steps on that beeeeeeaaauuuutifoooool autumn day........
