    Bravery

A Harley Rider A Harley rider is passing the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life..' The biker replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.' The reporter says, 'Well, I'm a journalist from the New York Times, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page.... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?' The biker replies, 'I'm a U..S. Marine and a Republican.' The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on front page: U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

There will be some form of chat. We are setting up an IRC server and more than likely that will be what we use. Too many things to do and not enough time to do them.
  5. You are right. Didn't look at the final line up. Although Ten Years After is on the original album. I'm Going Home is one of the high points of that soundtrack.
  6. On Tuesday, They are releasing a new collection called Back to Yasgur's Farm. It is a 6 CD collection that for the first time, includes ALL of the performers, not all the songs, but all are represented.
  7. The Beatles covered it, but not the original artist.
  8. I missed Woodstock. But like RumRunner, went to Watkin's Glen. I was on a first date. Took my Mustang left RI and headed west on the MA turnpike. Decided to stop by a friend's house in Westfield, Ma to score some pot. He wasn't at home so I went across the street to his sister's. He looked very much like Cat Stevens, but he had a suit on and his eyes weren't bloodshot == something was amiss. We came in and had coffee. They had just had a "Bible fellowship" -- this was my intro to The Way. We stayed awhile, I tried to convince him that the concert would be better than any meeting. (Should have kept that as my credo). Well we continued on. It was about 9pm. The concert was about 150 or so miles away. At 9:30, the traffic came to a standstill. Every rest area was a big party. We had brought a tent to shelter us from the sun. She was lighter skinned than me and that is light. We didn't get to the area till about 5 am. Police were directing us to park in residential areas. We got our gear and headed to the grounds. The streets were shoulder to shoulder people and we were not close!!! We arrived at the concert at about 12:30!!! That was one long walk. We were so far away from the stage that it was a dot in the distance. I think the Allman Bros were playing. The sun was beating down. We were in the Hell's Angel's section, not by choice. I started to set up the tent and found out that I had left the tent stakes in the car!! She was burning up. We decided to leave about 2. The sound wasn't all that great and we couldn't see anything on the stage. The walk back wasn't very pleasant. And then it started to rain. Yes indeed, one helluva first date. We got back to the car around 6pm. She was not in good shape. I took a nap for a few hours and then we headed home. Traffic heading south seemed to be going quicker than the turnpike, so we headed south. I had a friend in CT that we could impose on for a shower and laundry, which we did. She was a little more comfortable although very burned. A few weeks later, I would be at the Rock. Got duped saying it would be bigger than Watkins Glen. Watkin's Glen is a racetrack in NY, by the way.
  9. The first moon walk got moved up by about 5 hours, when they decided to forego a sleep period so they actually did the infamous moon walk at 10:51PM EST on Sunday July 20th about 6 hours after landing on the moon.
  10. I was glued to the set. And switching channels. Listened to Walter and then to ABC, the science guy on that station was really good. With all the animosity going on between parents and youth those days, It was the one night that everyone was focused on something, whether your hair was long or short; whether you listened to Lawernce Welk or Spooky Tooth. That night one of my coworkers from the supermarket became a father. I remember going by and visiting them a few days later and talking about how memorable her birthday would be.

I find Firefox much more stable than any IE. Take a chance. It's by the people that brought you Netscape many moons ago.

Linda and George. At the bottom of the page, any page, there is a drop down menu on the left that says "IP Board" Click on that and select "lo fi" then see if you can access the pages. Linda, as Geisha asked, which browser are you using? Internet Explorer and Microsoft in general, don't adher to "Web standards" Although they claim to do so with IE 8. So I would try either upgrading to 8 or install Firefox. I've tried replicating the problem on four different machines and can't seem to get the scenario to happen. Linda what they said. Shellon, Right now those sayings are reverting to standard ones based on number of posts. When GT gets back from the advanced class special at HQS, he'll look at it. George, I have tried to recreate your scenario on three different computers. If you are geek-inclined, go to the start button and then click on RUN. Type in CMD. You will get a command line prompt. type in the following "ipconfig /flushdns" That will clear any DNS junk and then try to get to that page. Make sure your browsers are all closed at the time. Chat may be in the forseeable future, although I am told that not many are using it. My main reason for it was so that new people could float in and "talk" to someone. But if no one is there, that won't be helpful.

At this point, the chatroom won't be returning. I am going to look into some alternatives.

  17. I think it is Dylan. Although, "Any Way the Wind Blows" by the Mothers of Invention comes to mind

I think that the person that starts a thread should watch it and get it back on topic. Not many do that. And the moderators certainly don't have the time or inclination to check threads to see if they are staying on topic. I'm not sure about the thread starter closing the thread. Could be a problem. We'll think about it. My main concern is that someone with something to add wouldn't get a chance to do so.
