  1. Socks, If I could have my way EVERYONE would post in this thread, but heck some of yall won't even look in my direction, much less post in my thread. Heehee Nah, not really, most of yall chat with me. (edited to redo this line, was having way too much fun ) I just got hooked up with cable, I think I am like sooooooo cooooolllll right now. hahahahaha Back when I get my office back in order and note my new email addy in my profile, I think I chose a cool one. heehee Kathy [This message was edited by ChattyKathy on November 25, 2002 at 15:10.]
  2. Home now, and before the cable guys take me off line a quick hi. Steve, yes grey as grey can be. But still white in my neck of the woods. Mister P-Mosh, soon Ted will make it to your generation. Bye again, Kathy
  3. Steve, I woke up to a white wonderland, how is your view today of the lakefront? ~~~~~ "To Sir With Love" is playing on the radio now? That was quite a talked about song in it's day wasn't it? So has anyone else heard that the music at hq is resorting back to some older style tunes, more testimony type tunes. If so what is it they have testimony of? (that spelling looks off?) Can they get there from here, think not, have to teach the Word as intended to get there. Changing their music ain't gonna pull that off. Kathy
  4. Ted, Indeed you are a man of great heart for more than just the history of music you hold. Thank you for your kind words towards me. And so thrilled to see you taking us thru the next stage. Oakspear, Glad you could get away and join in. Knew you had to be doing something, not like you to not join in on things. Kathy BTW, am switching over from phone to cable this afternoon so will be getting new email addy, I will post such in my profile, and for you that email back and forth I will send you notice of such outside of here as well. And listen yall, sometimes I make you wait a minute or so cause I can only talk to 50 of you at a time but I am so thrilled with my life outside public view. Yall just can't know, even if it has been now named by that sweet French girl ALP (Chatty's Cafe), smiles I have.
  5. Socks, Heck if I can do just fine on 5 hours sleep, I think I can cut it down to 3, and those extra 2 hours I would gladly put his work together. Would be my joy, yepper. I am thrilled with this thread. Have I mentioned that yet? Grizzy, Very interesting, very interesting. Kathy
  6. ~~~~~ Except for sex, the nineties are shaping up like another sixties, which is why I have personally come back from the sixties to remind you about what really went on. Nobody can tell you about it, you can?t read it in a book or see it in a movie. The sixties were an experience. It didn?t just HAPPEN, it was a HAPPENING, an ongoing thing, an adventure through mindlessness but with a purpose. It was far out man, but like you had to be there. That?s why everyone headed for San Francisco during the summer of love, man, because Haight Ashbury was like something else, which means it was like absolutely nothing else that has ever existed before or since anywhere. Look, I know I?m going out of order, but damn it, Haight Ashbury in 1967 was my favorite part of the sixties, and that?s where I wanna go next. He leads the group through the intersection of Haight and Ashbury Street in San Francisco, circa 1967. There is a line up of hippies offering, or seeking, grass, acid, hash, love beads, ankhs, incense, the Berkeley Barb, the Oracle, peace signs, the Free Press, speed, mescaline, peyote buttons, magic mushrooms, all leading to the HIPPIE HOST, offering a tour of a genuine hippie crash pad. We practice free love together in a waterbed. That?s a tie-dyed parachute on the ceiling, and that far out smell is patchouli incense. This is my ax. I use it to jam with friends. This is our bong. We use it to smoke dope and get high. Then we groove to some sounds, like the Airplane or the Dead. This bowl over here is where we stash the roaches. This is a black light poster. It looks really far out when we turn off the lights. This is a lava lamp. I can stare at it for hours. This is the refrigerator where we can scarf some suds. Let?s see what?s in here. This is organic brown rice. These are vegetables because we don?t eat our animal friends. These are hash brownies. We use them to get off. ~~~~~ The ultimate cure for people with little problems is to help somebody with bigger ones. Arlo Guthrie Kathy
  7. Stevo, Okay someday I will start you a thread. Heck, man any thread you post in can be your thread. Ain't this one the bomb!!!!! Kathy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EDITED TO ADD THIS: As much as I hate to leave this wonderful thread, must leave the house for awhile. I sure hope our Ted has added more goodies when I return. As well as others, bet this generation of posters have a lot to bring to the table on this 60-80 period. Would be cool if we could give back something to Ted for all the effort he has put into this thread. Wouldn't it yall? [This message was edited by ChattyKathy on November 24, 2002 at 10:23.]
  8. Grizzy, Was away for while, need to leave again but I think you are doing what it looks like Ted was asking us to do, in his humble way. By adding our thoughts to this stage of the music generation. Sure hope others who no doubt are following this thread (good guess based on hits already, and such a new thread still), will join in and add their words. This thread is going to be printed and held onto by me as one of most cherished items. Too much fun for any one person to have, yepper!!!!! Kathy
  9. Ted, Hey man, I was just going to call you and wake you up. yahooooooooooo I sleep only as much as this body requires, max 5 hours, max. Way too much to do in life than sleep. HaHa, you must have read where I said I use to walk and talk in my sleep. Very observant there young man. Kathy
  10. bowtwi, I think I am going to call him and wake him up so he can continue with our eye and brain candy. Yes, learning myself the value of controlling what I chose to think of. Had no idea I would grow this quickly when I came on board here, just no idea. And this thread, well heck, no way can I describe what it is doing for my heart. Just no way. Clapton tunes done in bluegrass fashion, oh yes major fine music for a Sunday morning in cold Illinois. Kathy
  11. hiway29, I?m with you, if ever in Cleveland I would be thrilled to have Ted accompany me to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Can ya just imagine the things he could tell ya as you stroll about? Socks, Can I come sit and listen to you and your kids? And agree you could no more separate music out of mine or my son?s soul life than you could change the fact we are born again of God?s spirit and all he11 can?t take that away. Neither could you take away song from either of our lives. Ted, You have a captive audience here. How shall I ever thank you for sharing in this manner in this humble girl?s thread? And my dad played the guitar for Elvis while he played around with some songs way back before Elvis became the well known man he was. My dad, along with my mom?s brothers did warm up at the Opry and that is where my dad met Elvis. Was a fan to the end of Elvis?s life and considered the man to be a friend of his. I never met Elvis, could have at early age but would not have known who it was at that point anyway. Bowtwi, In light of your mom having taken her own life and the impact that still has on you what awesome memories for you to see her dancing to the music she loved so. You say she was graceful and beautiful. Kiddo, looks to me like some memories you can pull out and hold onto when the others want to bite your butt. I just picked up 2 CD?s at a thrift shop (1.50 investment, I love finding buys like that). Anyway it is bluegrass guitar music, one titled Picking on Clapton, all his tunes played in bluegrass fashion. Too much fun for one person I am having as I listen to it and read this thread. Kathy
  12. Morning yall, Gotta grab more coffee, be right back, and cool more stuff to read from yall, and looks life Socks joined the gang. Smile upon smile, Kathy
  13. Weout1200, A fav of mine is Elton John, heard the same words regarding him and his music. My reply was "I'm a big girl, I think I can deal with his music, oh which is pretty fine and not get all wacked out spiritually". If twi payed as much attention to the doing of the Word as they did to telling us what we could and should not do, well heck they may not be drowning. Kathy
  14. Abi, I agree. In fact I think part of what kept me telling myself "okay Kath you can hang in there a bit longer" was the influence of some of Way Prod's songs. When T**** sings the darker the night the brighter the light I got goose bumps. I found myself thinking "well yes you have a need to remain in twi and try and do your portion towards helping folks get healed up in their minds and heart". I would feel my value in twi when listening to certain songs. Then on other music I have to not listen to songs at times, cause they just work up too much emotion for me at times. My baby sister who died a few years ago had a favorite group Steely Dan, even a song with her name by them "Josie". I could not listen to SD for six months after she died. Today can listen to it and smile for her sweet soul as I hear her song sang. Kathy
  15. Garth, Yes please by all means, I just do not want his character addressed as he is not here to defend himself. I agree he is way to serious about himself, but we have a relationship via email and I am somewhat protective of him since I have chosen to bring him over here. Again, you are wonderful to work with me on this. Kathy
  16. Garth, Thank you, and you know what I am thanking you for no doubt. You have made my heart smile towards you for your choice to remain silent. My deepest love to you for that Sir. Kathy
  17. Abi, Good question, and I would say both just by-products of that generation. Kathy
  18. Guys I ask of you a favor. Below you will find a couple of quotes from James French in his thread on way logo. He and I email each other and I asked him if I could bring a couple of his quotes over here. He agreed to allow that. The thing is he is gone, not to return to gs. So with that in mind can we just allow these quotes to add to this thread and not address him regarding it. As he will not be here to respond to our words. I just wanted to add them to the thread for our thoughts, we may agree or disagree, but his voice I wanted in this thread. Okeedokee. Thanks yall for your allowance of me to ask what I have, Kathy
  19. Ron G, When I first started this thread which seems like a lifetime ago based on the awesome trip down music lane I was not real clear, still kinda held some reservation that this real dark stuff was not healthy. But now feel with proper oversight of our youth they should be able to ferret thru it and grow up, maybe never to even like the stuff once a bit matured. Dan that can not be seen, Yep ain't that a kick in the butt. One of the first videos on MTV that I loved was Rock the Kasbahl (know I have killed that spelling), but remember the armadillo running around. I don't know why but I loved that dadgum video. Kathy
  20. A la prochaine, Bamboo shoots up your nails. Ouch. But I agree, the lack of secular music allowed that first block of in-rez was pure torture. Except for the same ole songs sang over and over again I enjoyed twi music. Way Prod especially, it was for that I was able to keep making those treaks to hq during the last few years. Always touched my heart to hear the music. Merci mon ami, Kathy
  21. johniam, Fun account there about your mom, Benny Goodman and the vacuum. Would agree the 60's music lead to drugs, maybe like the booze consumed during that earlier music. Music gets people excited, a good thing. Yepper. That was a part of twi fellowships that I thought was pretty sweet, the music but with some variety of songs needed. Not the same ole few we all knew so well. I liked singing ones not in the book, older tunes we all knew by heart. Kathy
  22. TheInvisibleDan, Video killed the radio star! I want my MTV! Money for nothing, chicks for free! Oops just got carried away there. Ted, You boring, gosh almighty I feel like a dadgum kid in a candy store. You are a storehouse of value. Did I tell you thank you yet for posting here? Kathy
  23. Grizzy, Know you are talking to Garth, but heck when did that ever stop me. Better make sure that old priest don't also know the words to the Beatle's Revolution. Would think to outlaw Rap would only incite to more violence by that same crowd. Can't outlaw music, that can't be the way to go. As much as I can't stand Rap, heck I would hate to see it censored. These kids need that stuff like we needed our flavor of music at their age. BUT where are the parents? Is there no one paying attention to the extremes these kids have gone to I wonder. Grizzy, I too got a tad bit anti-establishment minded, but my avenue was the flower child direction. Geezz, I would walk around parks while familes were trying to have a nice family picnic and hand them a flower. LMAO Thank God we are only teens one go around. Haha Okay, I will shut up now, just too much fun for one person I am having with yall's posting. Kathy (okay hubby was talking to me while in post mode and bunches of you got in there, better get to the reading of it)
  24. Abi, Love your post, you said it so much better than I could have. Thanks! That parential oversight is of major importance. And the point of censorship of what they can not understand is very important. As you stated, while too young. Yea, I know my son had no clue at birth what Plant was cranking on about. Haha, but today that son of mine (bragging time here) has a voice many would envy. Just awesome!!!!! And he has a rounded love of all types of music. Even does DJ work in California on the weekends, just became a part of his life from that Ledd playing while he was coming from the hospital. Heehee Cool that you agree about not walking around all quietly when the baby is asleep, geez I have gone in folks homes and the infant rules the roost already. Not good, nada, not good. So you saw what I was saying, this only allowing certain music. Just can't see how that can be the best for our youth. Music is the sounds of life. Gosh, I am having a blast in this thread, and can't wait for more stories from Ted. Yippeeeeeee Gotta attend to dinner, be back a bit later on. Kathy
  25. Ted, Please come back and tell us more, please. But then being the angel I am (LOL ) it would only be polite to ask you to return. You are so kind, but I assure you I am no angel. So what you are saying is that music has always had its share of criticism regarding its influence on our youth. And in today?s world those songs of yesterday seem pretty mild in comparison. Being tied into the things of today?s culture would explain the dark and hatred based lyrics of some music looking at it through that filter of understanding. But do you think it possible that the youth of today have more of a drive to identify with the lyrics? Or is that also similar to every stage of music development? What are your thoughts on kids being able to enjoy even this dark music, if mixed with other forms of music and overseen by parents? That is something I saw while in twi, not allowing youth to partake of some forms of worldly music. During you time with twi did you see that mindset? Okay, I know I am asking ya a load of questions here, but heck I would be nuts not to. You have a lifetime of experience to offer here. Thank you so very much for joining in on this thread. I am honored. Garth, Very cool point on God's Word in culture. Very interesting, as much as I love music I haven't really considered that. act2, I'm with you, fond memories. Now all we need is some refreshments and just sit back and enjoy Ted's stories. Kathy (Ted, see we were posting at the same time, cool)
