  1. Stevo, Great songs, was just talking about that Louis Armstrong song to a friend yesterday morning. Hey, I picked up that CD you mentioned. The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan, will let ya know after I listen to it. Kathy
  2. Kay, Thanks for coming back and posting, real fun!!!!! My French friend, So do you know this new poster named KEYNOTE? Do tell, do tell. ohbehave, You have the coolest post name in gs. Wish I had thought of it, but then heck guess my name suits me to a T. As eyes look to the left to see the woman don't know how to stop. In fact one night while chatting with that French girl noted above on AIM, she goes "hey question for you, I saw your number of posts, is that a problem?". Thanks for posting, and glad to get to know you. Till late, Kathy Still having way too much fun for one person to be allowed.
  3. Yana, Being of a simple mind I can be intimidated when maybe others are not, think that may have been a case here. Did not mean to imply your being a snob, but looking at my post think I did just that. Zixar, Very cool! Kathy
  4. Yana, I fall into the catergory of: Of "not" being "in the know". I like too many forms of music to focus my learning on just one. For me it is just the pure pleasure of it all. What tidbits acquired along the way just add flavor to the spice. If I knew nothing in depth about varied music forms in would not lesson my enjoyment of it. Just kinda simple in that respect, probably not unnoticed by folks already. Thanks for the post, it adds to understanding, even if maybe I fall short of the mark. Kathy
  5. Oak, Thanks for posting that smile making "beating your frog" gig. Would have loved to hear yall. Reggae music has to be one of the funniest forms of music to date. Socks, I wonder if Paw is ready to put a limit on my post number yet? Kathy
  6. Hi Kay, you answered a question I had in your post. That being what if someone was just now coming to this thread, how long would it take to read it. I?m glad I ain?t starting out from scratch. No offense taken, I think John Lennon looks like one myself. But I don?t guess that was his intention. Will you please post again and tell us about being at Woodstock? Kinda new you were cool when you posted in that Pink Floyd thread of mine, you continue to prove it to me in your posts, thanks for joining us. Hey Zixar, same words to you, man I would hate to be have to read this puppy from the start, thanks for doing so. You abuse instruments, hahaha, find that hard to believe. Writing songs is something I am playing at presently. Way cool it is. But can't play an instrument of any kind. Your choice on Dire Straits guitarist Knopfler is a great one. I also like Night Ranger and 38 Special, to name a couple. Thanks yall for posting, everyone added makes this one heck of a kick*** thread. Gosh, I am not partial am I? Kathy
  7. THIS THREAD IS TOO AWESOME. Wait can something actually be too awesome. NOT......... [This message was edited by ChattyKathy on December 03, 2002 at 21:34.]
  8. Hey, my southern family would love this stuff yall are talking about now. I will have to make sure the next time I go back to TN I take this thread with me. See yall tonight, and keep those washboards a humming will ya. Singing as I work, Kathy
  9. Gosh Ted, how very kind. But I would do it for free. You have no idea how much this walk thru history via the filter of music is thrilling my soul. Kathy
  10. Ted, Patsy Cline, she would have left the others in the dust. Her voice, her style, her guts. She took that song "Crazy", a song meant to be sung by a man, and geezzzz what a song it ended up being. She was fantastic. I love her music. Thanks for sharing about meeting her. Steve, If I lived near Ted I would be begging for the shot to help put his knowledge into a book, and I don't have a clue how to do it. But I swear I would give it everything I had. Kathy
  11. To one of the wonderful daughters of John and Hope, Great post! And thank you for a view from one who is living thru the age many of us were in the sixties. Trust that makes sense to you, not sure it does to me. Your parents are very involved with you girls and your love of music, I would have to say you exemplify what can be available. May I ask you do you know of youth that are not overseen by parents/guardians that listen to what I would call the darker words of some of today's music? And if so do you think they allow it to influence their lives moreso than someone of such a caliber as I consider you to be? You are in the mix, you know better than I could ever know, I am an old chick just sorting thru it all. Thanks again for your post, please, please post again. My love to you young lady, Kathy
  12. Pirate1974, I think I have asked a similar question in this thread. That being the lost youth of today. With this as the readily available mental image for our youth, it has to rob them of innocence. And I agree we should not get caught up in censorship of music, even this sick stuff. But are we as parents counting the long term cost to our youth to listen to this. If we are not in the mix with them, helping them sort it out we will someday regret it more than I believe we have any idea of. Kathy okay now have to give up phone line
  13. Ted, Okay, I have my popcorn and soda, gonna sit back and enjoy the heck out of this question. Before my time, only reason why I can't add my two cents worth. That and I rarely give my two cents worth around here. LMAO Kathy
  14. Remember Bob Dylan?s song "Blowin in the Wind". How it covered such serious things like war and personal awareness of things around you. We did not want to accept Nam and many of us clung tightly to our music as an avenue of reaction to our fear for our country. Music was a medium of expression anyone could understand, rich and poor, high intellect and simple minded understanding. We had a way of gaining some type of freedom during a time when freedom was being threatened as possibly being taken away from us. Plus we could rebel along with all the other kids our age, and feel a comradely, like we had some unseen link to each other. For me the sixties music was my first realization of how music really does tie to the social and culturally things of our country. Bob Dylan "Blowin in the Wind" How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, The answer is blowin in the wind. How many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, The answer is blowin in the wind. How many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea? Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free? Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head, Pretending he just doesn't see? The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, The answer is blowin in the wind. Kathy
  15. Grizzy, Remember a couple other songs that were banned from some stations? Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks Earl by Dixie Chicks Both dealing in what some apparently did not feel where suitable for listeners. Yet some music today is light years away in substance and are praised as an art form. Which I am not saying should not be allowed to be played but your song and these two noted above are just plain life topics. Kathy
  16. May your skies be clear and your heart be light on this special day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Kathy
  17. Bluzeman, Now your name along would indicate you should be posting in this thread. Thanks for adding your spice to the mix. Hopper, That wasn?t a picture on the ceiling? Especially loved your "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" rendition. You know Tennessee Williams "Tennessee Waltz"? If so play it for us Hopper. We can call the plumber bill a wash for your song, heehee. Can I hang out in Vermont before re-boarding that big ole plane ya got for us? Your choice of Christmas meal sounds yummy. I will bring the Greek desert. Well gotta leave again, see yall later on. Kathy
  18. Linda Z, Thanks for joining us, you are a wonderful addition. And Socks, you are a great PR man there. Camp songs are fine music, fun they now refer to that one as such. Found memories can be had in music of our youth can't it? I have often thanked our Father above for having been born into a music family. And I did my best to make sure my son had the same advantage. Life without music would be soooooo lacking. And it would appear there are a number of music lovers here in GS. Well must let this phone line go back to being a phone line again. Will log back in later today and see what yall have been up to. Much love and hugs to you all, Kathy
  19. Grizzy, My oh my, what a song. And yes it fits here and over in that thread of Bucks. Thanks for posting it. Kathy
  20. Steve, Hahahahahahahahahahaha. What can I say, sometimes I am a slow learner. You continue to lighten up my heart there Steve. Hey it is trying to snow here, sure that will aid in my staying connected via phone lines now. LMAO. Kathy
  21. Goey, That sucks. And I am beginning to wonder if my problems tie to the fact everyone outside of Chicago lives in the country in Illinois. hahahahaha Kathy
  22. Morning yall, Can't be on line like I would like for a few days since using our only phone line, so sad I am. Scream, cool another poster to this kick*** thread. Thanks for posting. That quote sure speaks loudly of what twi WAS NOT doing for us. You shall know them by their fruit. And theirs is pretty much rotten. Wolf of the Word, I did not actually follow the link, assumed it to be sound versus words. Thanks there you teacher to me of late. Sure do like learning from yall here. Socks, what can I say, geez you are the lead guitar of this here thread. So thankful for you my friend, so very thankful. Hopper, love how you and I use this thread for our communications, heehee. BTW, I just received your email and am trying to tell our French friend the same info via AIM for ya. Okay gonna snoop around before I have to close it down again. My love to you all, and BTW hubby said this morning he is beginning to understand the need to be linked to folks I have grown to love and have been allowed access into their lives. He knows how much I am involved with yall outside of public view and is beginning to see it as a godly means of my giving unto the body of Christ. See ya, Kathy
  23. Do I ever second that one. Now back to stupid 56K, but will be back to cable in a few days. The speed will make your head dizzy. When you can work it into your budget folks it is a must do. Like sliced bread it is. For me about the same cost per month as second phone line and provider fees. Kathy
