  1. Gosh, golly niKa, best I can tell, the OU game is on at the same time as the Sun Devils waddling around in Duck country... both of which apparently televised regionally... so I won't be able to see the OU game... will look for highlights.

Be sure and tell us if any of your students makes a big play.

  2. TT kiddo,

I'm sure you know you're like minnie mouse (f___g goofy), but you forget, Brad Penny facing Mark Prior and the heavy hitting Cubs... the guppies were simply overmatched.

And next (tomorrow) is Kerry Wood, who will victimize the Florida Guppies.

  3. Thanks, O-B, had a tough couple of days. I'm resilient. Today, several signs show an upward trend.

And Excie, I DID get the cffm link to work, it probably was done for a short time when I first tried.

And it appears to be a good night so far for both the Cubbies and Red Sox.

  4. I again thank those of you who have remembered me and my daughter in their prayers.

    Update time.

This morning was a disaster. Last month I ....ed off an incompetent Family Court judge. Today, he even shocked my ex-wife with what he did to discredit me.

It has been a routine matter of course that the ex-wife (can't just say "the Ex" here, or someone might think I was talking about Excathedra) has been asking for custody, as I have.

My evidence has been solid. The ex-wife's completely heresay and gobbledeegook.

As I have had sole custody because of domestic violence in the ex-wife's home, I now have NO CONTACT AT ALL WITH MY DAUGHTER, except for one ten minute phone call per day and maybe, at some unspecified schedule, supervised visits with my kid.

This for two reasons only: 1) I caught the judge and had him dead to rights for misconduct and 2) the kid gets her way with her mother, so she wanted to dump on me.

After having a soft drink with MY mother, after the hearing, I went to the VA medical center to see about a hardship waiver of copayments. They are providing very good care and I am thankful. But the copayments are killing me...

The guy who handled the paperwork for me told me about their Human Resources and that I should check with them about jobs.

So, I have applications for two positions that I am overqualified for, and the idea is to get in, get 90 days on the job and apply for internal job postings. Not everyone can apply, must be a vet. I qualify. So, will see how it goes.

    Definitely appreciate your prayers.

I guess I should be thankful...

  6. I had wanted to take my kid last week, but she didn't want to see it (we went to see Dickie Roberts then... nucking futs).

However, this evening, we went to the early showing of this one.

I echo all of the above comments... and add that since I have one more in the incessant series of 2003 custody hearings (I won't go into the why, here) on Monday... this was a good way to start the weekend.

Actually, those who saw it might understand a little of what I've been going through with my kid.

Though my ex isn't as much of a floozy as Walter's mother, the new man problem has some parallels for my daughter (the stepfather and DV, and a mother who is a smooth operator in court)... so, this provides some good food for the kid's thoughts. As I have been ordered to bring her with me Monday to the hearing...

Anyway, delightful movie. Loved all the dogs (including Arnold Ziffel's cousin...that's what it reminded me of). Laughed out loud when I saw the barn in the last scene... because it was sooo typical.

  7. Hey Johnny Lingo,

We call the former resident of Kansas, niKa

    for not in Kansas anymore.

And some of us get away with calling her Professor niKa, because she teaches English to Oklahoma U athletes (and other freshmen, I believes).

  8. I thank all of you for your prayers.

I also thank you, MJ for sharing your heart and experience. I do realize my kid knows both parents love her. I do see my influence in her life. And I do see that I might simply have to let her go in order for her to see for herself.

It hasn't all happened yet, so there is time for miracles, but I also realize that it is bigger than what I can determine on my own and one of my responsibilities is figuring out how to cope with the disappointment that might happen.

    Again, thanks.

  9. Thank you all for your generous hearts and prayers.

I have been reluctant to ramble, and will try to keep this succinct, but the world feels as if it is collapsing around me right now.

We put forth our preferred face here at the Spot. And what we can do for each other is obviously limited. Nevertheless, I appreciate your prayers.

I, too, am within a few weeks of losing my home.

I have been a single parent for the last nine and a half years.

My daughter is now 13 and I have exhausted my energy and every other personal resource I can think of to do my best for her. On some levels, she's ok. Yet, her mother and I have not enjoyed a cooperative relationship as coparents. This has come home to roost in terms of tangible impact on my daughter.

I have received zero positive feedback from all sources and all places I have inquired about work.

There are issues and concerns with regard to my daughter's charter school, some having direct ramifications on the health and safety of children participating in extracurricular sporting activities. Having been actively involved with the schools since my stepson (now a college sophomore) was in first grade. New and exciting ways for a school to overreact to a parent calling attention to school negligence have come into play.

I have been involved in post-decree custody litigation for essentially the entire calendar year. In March, after a recurrance of domestic violence in the other parent's home, I was granted emergency sole custody. A different judge subsequently has been incrementally eroding protections for my daughter in her mother's home.

It would take volumes (and in court filings I have already written, literally, volumes, well over 100,000 words) for me to make that situation clear for you. You wouldn't really want to know the details anyway, more than likely.

Central to the problem is parental alienation. There are two viewpoints (and plenty of opinions about) related concepts. One, which has been discredited, is to label a child's condition PA syndrome, as if it could be codified in the DSM IV. The other is to use the term to explain a parent's conduct in both aligning the child (yes, by brainwashing) with the needy parent, and alienating the child against the other parent.

Put most simply, even though my daughter's safety is at risk, she wants to live with her mother.

Next Monday, another court hearing is scheduled. I have been ordered to bring my daughter with me, for the judge to interview her himself, in his chambers.

Arizona law authorizes a judge to so interview a child subject to custody proceedings, but only to ascertain the child's wishes as to residence and parenting time.

However, Arizona law also requires a judge to consider evidence of violence as contrary to the child's best interest and to make that the primary factor in determining custody.

In other words, in my desire to protect my child, I'm screwed.

Thank you for your compassion and prayers.

  10. Good news. I just spoke with Simon.

Not to worry, not "sleeping it off" and not grouchy.

He was unequivocal speaking of his love for the bretheren and sisterns of the 9th.

But he was on the road, searching for Home Despot, er, Depot.

No doubt he will be back here within a few days.

  11. niKa,

Glad you got a smart sister that can help your mom.

Banks generally would need the certificate from a county health dept. or state vital records dept., but that can take a looooong time.

I'll see if I can drum up SimontheLoaded.

  12. I've been reluctant to say, but I also am in this position.

I'm within one month's mortgage payment of losing the house.

If I go into any detail, I ramble incessantly, so I'll refrain from that, but certainly would appreciate prayers also.

    Thanks.

  13. One has to wonder if IgotHope, in his drive to tempt God, isn't simply having a late start and variation on mid-life.

I don't even think I'd be interested in watching this.

I vividly remember a news story about European newlyweds plunging to their death, this way, together, unsuspectingly.

There has to be less dangerous ways to be silly in Las Vegas...

  14. What is this in mine ear? The Reverend Tuttle knows not of the famous Las Vegas buffet? In many hotels and casinos, of course the idea of free libations to those with cash flowing like Niagara is well known. But also to feed the weary traveler to loosen the change gripping in one's pocket or purse, many provide a low price buffet... or so it was the last time I was in Lost Wages.
