On the questions posed by our sweet brudder Rev TT, the most vivid recollection I have of that momentus time in our lives is of waiting at the KC airport for a ride... meeting some of you there, and meeting someone who said he was some sort of minister who knew all about how bad Vic and his teachings and operation were. Well Dr. niKa, get while the gettin's good. Cause when yer daughter turns 13 (or maybe 11... whenever the hormones kick in), well, it's like Emeril says, the action and excitement goes up a notch.... (hic-ellipses)

And my one and only daughter, now every bit of 13 (and those who have daughters who are or have been teens should know what I mean by that... and some of you WERE those kiddos once) started 8th grade on Monday. None too soon.

This movie was one of those that was highly hyped prior to and just after it opened in theaters. I suppose that was the first clue. How much hype (and tv advertising) did box office bomb Gigli get? I went to see About Schmidt in a theater shortly after it was released. I left the theater with a general sense that I had been robbed. George, your eloquent review in the first post on this thread pretty much captured it. Even the big kathy bates nude scene was embarrassing more than it was funny. And I think it was intended to be funny.
