  1. Wow, so many "red flags" I missed!!! Thinking back on it, my very first inkling that they might be lying to me was when I saw the photographs of the board of trustees. Back then they were V. P. Weirwille, Harry Weirwille, and Howard Allen. The photos were arranged in such a way that it reminded me of a Buddahist altar. I asked why the photos, and why in a prominent place in the living room? They said that it was because they knew these guys personally. Their words made sense, but their actions belied them. They seemed to reverence the pictures. They did everything except bow down and pray before them (of course what they did in private, I don't know). I should have bolted then, but I took them at their word. BTW, their mantra was, "The word, the word, and nothing but the word!" Sometimes, I wondered just what "word" they meant - theirs or Gods. I hope you innies are paying attention! Technobyte
  2. When I become angry, I simply withdraw. My persona becomes (as someone once described it to me) "...eriely quiet, downright freightening." Some call it sulking, but it helps me to think and put the angst into perspective before I act. I often put my hands in my pockets to prevent myself from taking a swing at the source. That's how I deal with it. Technobyte

  4. I have to agree with Galen on the fact that this sight is likely affiliated with CES, but also with the CFF as well. In the downloadable teachings section of this site, about half of the teaching downloads are from these two organizations. This leads me to wonder if one of these, or another cloaked organization (TWI?), is really running this site. Also, as Excathedra asked earlier, just who or what are the "...DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS; CHARITIES AND MINISTRIES"?!? I, for one, do not want to end up inadvertantly giving my hard earned dollars to anyone such as TWI through a back door that doesn't disclose it's true affiliations. Until you FULLY disclose these cloaked charities and ministries, and then ONLY if I agree with all of the "DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS; CHARITIES AND MINISTRIES" that you support, MIGHT I join your organization. Again, who are you really, and with whom are you affilliated??? Technobyte
  5. Happy New Year to all, including my fellow lurkers!!! Technobyte
  6. They made people shower together??? I've heard of that. Something about, "...don't drop the soap." Technobyte
  7. Bramble, I hope your internet back-up uses a strong encryption scheme. Otherwise, you're trusting the ISP not to reveal your data. USB "drives" cannot be used with just any computer!!! Even if a computer has USB ports, if the operating system (OS) it's running doesn't support USB (ie. Win95, WinNT thru ver 4.0, many versions of Linux/Unix, DOS, OS2, etc...) the USB "drive" won't work. In those cases, a floppy or a parallel Zip drive would often work fine. Floppies are beginning to fade in the most updated computers though. They hold so little data that it really isn't worth the expense or the space it takes to store them properly. Especially when you can burn over 700 1.44Mb floppies onto 1 standard CD... Now where did I put that archive CD anyway... :o--> Technobyte
  8. Roy, You left out the opinion that fits me... I'm a Technical Support person. I tell people, for a price, how they operate and how to fix them. In short, Computers are how I make my livin'. Technobyte
  9. Since TWI is a .ORG right now, I can't see any use for acquiring the .COM version, unless they're planning to put the Way Bookstore on line. That's the only thing that would make sense. Then again, I'm talking about TWI - make sense, that's a good one. :D--> Ahem, anyway, I think what they're trying to do is reserve for themselves any and all web addresses that folks would type in that could lead to their current site. I've heard of something in the past where some commercial site's lost their web addresses when someone bought and re-registered their domain names when these companys forgot to re-register their site at year's end. These companies were then forced to pay exsorbitent fees to reobtain their domain names. Most of them paid without a legal fight. Probably because it would be less expensive. Of course, the people who did this had no other legitamate use for the domain names they obtained this way than to sell them back to the original registrant. As I understand it, Pat has been re-registering and using "thewayinternational.com" for quite some time now. I don't see how TWI can claim that they have a "right" to it at this point in time. Then again I'm not a lawyer, just a Tech Support guy. Technobyte
  10. I keep hearing these references to "RED MEAT" and the implication that it is supposedly bad for you. Perhaps it is, while it's still red in color. Just to let you know, when I eat beef, buffalo, lamb, veal, venison, or any other "RED" meat, it's not red anymore. I cook it all the way through. By the time I eat it, it's either brown or gray, not even a little pink. Texans have accused me of "burning" my meat, but with a little salt and pepper, it's delicious! Funny thing about the so-called "white" meats. They don't turn white until you cook them. :o--> I'm no dummy (I think) though. I eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and nuts (I LOVE pecans :)--> ). To each his own... Eat whatever suits YOU. :)--> Technobyte
  11. Indentured servitude is still alive and well in this country (USA). Some folks call it, "Contract Slavery". The best and most currently active form of it that I can think of is our Enlisted Military. Officers are appointed by the Secretary of the department of the Navy, Army, or Air Force, and can resign their commission at any time. Enlisted men, however have to sign a contract making themselves the property of the United States Government for the time period spelled out in the contract. They cannot resign, but must wait until their contracted time has expired. In return, the US government feeds, houses, clothes, and pays their Soldiers and Sailors. If you don't think Enlisted men being Government Property is true, just ask any enlisted man in any US service if you can be court martialed for getting sun burned, or a self inflicted wound. The charge would be "destruction of Government Property". Now I'm no lawyer (and if this is legal or not in Ohio, I don't know), but it is my understanding that if you volunteer to work for some person or organization without a written contract, it could be construed as an indentured servitude contract as long as the person or organization feeds, clothes, and houses you (they don't have to pay you in many states) for the specified period of time. They can also offer to pay you in lieu of feeding, clothing, and/or housing you. These days, however, they must pay you a minimum wage. In some states, this can also happen on what they call an "at will" basis. I understand that to mean that as long as the person or organization, and yourself, are willing to work under your agreed conditions, you are allowed to do so. If the person or organization decides to let you go, you must go. Likewise, if you decide to quit, they must let you quit. Many companies and corporations practiced some form of indentured servitude until the Unions came along. In Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky, mining companies horribly abused this system, which caused the miner's unions to be formed. What many of the mining companies did was allow a man to work for the mine, on an "at will" basis. They would "give" him a company house, but they would only pay him in "scrip". Several of these companies would also require rent be paid out of the scrip for the company house. Scrip was only good at the "Company Store". It was not accepted anywhere else. Miners would then buy their necessary items at greatly inflated prices from the company store, often running up massive debts to the company. Needless to say, if a miner wanted to quit, he was forced to pay the debt - in real money - before he was allowed to take his family and leave. This is how the "at will" basis was turned into literal slavery (sound familliar yet?). Not all mining companies abused their people like this. Some of them treated their employees very well, but because of the ones that didn't, West Virginia, and Kentucky now have laws requiring companies and corporations to pay their employees in real money (Gold, Silver, or US Currency). If they get caught doing otherwise, they can get into big trouble. Any thoughts? Corrections?? Additions??? Technobyte
