  1. That's funny,Ohbehave...."Your the beast" instead of "You're the beast"....Kids are so cute... Didn't Doctor Wierwille have an album out called "God Bless You,I love You,You're The Beast"?....Shoulda dedicated it to all the seed boys...
  2. Thought I'd check in and say 'hey'....So much baseball to talk about...so little time... Well the Cubs did a nice, quick job of putting to rest any hopes of three long curses being broken in three straight years...One guy gets hurt(Derek Lee) and they look like a beer league team...They just flat out play lousy baseball... And nobody will really step up on that team....I have to agree with that fag,Jay Mariotti(sorry, just doin' my Ozzie Guillen impersonation),Dusty Baker should be replaced by Bob Brenley from the announcer's booth...I'm not saying Baker's the bad guy, necessarily, but whatever his system or philosophy is,...it ain't working...The Cubs have gotten worse every year since his first in Chicago... The D-backs were almost as quick to follow the Cubs lead and do a June swoon of there own...Lost something like 14 out of 16 games, are now two games below .500,and amazingly, still only 3 1/2 games out of first in the mediocre NL West....Call me fair-weather,but it's hard to follow a team closely when losing is an almost every-day occurance... So,I've been keeping an eye on the Chisox...The top three teams in their division have been the hottest teams in baseball,...with Detroit,Minnesota and Chicago going a combined 26-4 in their last 10 games each...The White Sox are playing like a fine tuned machine....Four guys on pace to hit over 30 homers and 100 ribeyes...If they're not hammering you, they get a total of one hit and beat you 1-0...The only way they won't repeat is if they get too full of themselves, which will be the manager's job to keep in check... And speaking of Ozzie,he's had quite the contoversial week...Suspended for a game for his pitcher throwing at a guy...Now,they're calling for another suspension because he called Sun-Times sportswriter,Jay Mariotti,a fag...I don't know if I think the guy should be suspended...I'd be more interested to see how the gay community feels about his slur rather than the sportswriters...Mainly,because sportswriters have editors and managers don't...Ozzie's definitely a 'shoot from the lip' kind of guy...Chicago hasn't had a personality like him since Mike Ditka...He says a lot of ridiculous things...Actually,I can't understand half of what he says...I think the clearest thing he ever communicated was when he held his arms wide apart in the Series last year to bring in his big, chubby closer... But,I know the sports world doesn't take slurs lightly...I remember a few years ago in an NHL game,Chris Simon,an Indian, and Donald Brashear,a black guy,got in a good old fashioned hockey fight, and Simon used a racial slur...I thought it ironic that while these guys were pounding each other's faces into the ice, which didn't make news, one called the other a racial slur, which did make national news.. Anywho,my ramblin' for the day...On a personal note,my son's highschool team made it to the state finals game, but lost...They were down 10-0 before they got a chance to bat and never did recover....But he had a good year...Didn't pitch much, but batted .393 in the two-hole...Good to see you guys keeping the thread going...
  3. Maybe we should call her Oldie Hawn.. Gosh,I hope excie returns here and says sumthin'...There's so much world wisdom,or velt vissenschoft(sp),as Wierwille used to call it in German,to learn from folks who've been around the block a few times,...namely,those in their fifties,...that those of us in our forties,...sometimes victims of our own youth and inexperience fail to recognize...Happy birthday, exc, and may the AARP be with you....
  4. Just in case anybody around here doesn't know, excie"Methuselah" cathedra turns the big, big,BIG 5-0 on Friday... Where have all the young girls gone?...Long time passing.... Gosh,it's almost like she's our mother in the Word...having sort of begotten us in the Gospel....Well,hell,..who was that old lady that had a baby at 90?...Was it Sarah?...Shoot,you're still a spring chicken,excie...
  5. In World Cup News today, heavily favored England trounced Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 thanks to two late goals after the 83rd minute....It is not known to this sportswriter whether Trinidad and Tobago are two small countries that couldn't field enough players for each to have it's own team,or whether England simply played two teams at the same time...Of course, this lopsided victory for England pales in comparison to the 3-0 annihilation of the U.S. soccer team at the hands of the Czech Republic...World Cup officials fear ethnic tension as a result of the 3-0 blowout, noting a sharp increase in U. S. businesses enforcing their policies of not accepting Czechs...
  6. My son was reading One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest for his English class and we decided to rent the movie...It contained one of the great dialogs in group therapy moviedom: Taber: "Harding, why don't you knock off the .... and get to the point?" Harding: "This is the point. This is the point,Taber,it's not .....I'm not just talking about my wife,I'm talking about my life.I can't seem to get that through to you! I'm not just talking about one person,I'm talking about everybody. I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God,the devil, hell, heaven! Do you understand??? Finally!!!!"
  7. Excie, you have holy spirit with a small h and a small s.... Jardi,I'm only quoting you because I like those big purple letters in your posts... Yes,I was in my office,on my knees praying, and I hardly ever pray when I kneel, but I told the Father that if that was really Him Who spoke to me,to give me a sign..."Let me see it blow dust"...My eyes were shut real tight as I prayed, and when I opened them, the dust was so thick I couldn't see the gas pumps at the filling station not more than 12 blocks away...I can't tell you what that did to me,but it changed my life...And to this day,I still haven't cracked up-in the automobile...
  8. Now wait a minute....How's a woman who hasn't got a husband gonna ask her husband at home?....They never thought of that one,did they?...Context,people....Get 'to whom' correct...Who was Paul talking to?....The wives of the propheteers...You know what was going on in the Corinthian church?...Here's this wonderful man speaking a message from God or for God in the language of the people present, and here's his little woman, you know,...with those big blue eyes or big brown eyes,....(better not say much more 'cuz my wife's here),...and this little woman get's up in that union meeting and says "Honey, honeeey,I wanna say somethin',honeeeeeeeeeey!!!"....God looks her straight in the eyeballs and just says "Shuttup!! Then it just fits like a hand in a glove, and works!....with a mathematical exactness and scientific precision...How many would you say were kept silent in the churches?
  9. Thanks for asking Nika...I've been Az. He iz.... Tuttle,I guess that would make John a prophet,...one who speaks for or from David in the language of the people present...Or maybe he's just a propheteer....
  10. Well bless David's pea-pickin' guitar-pluckin' heart...I thought he'd be wearing a straw hat and bib overalls and plucking on a banjo.... How is everybody?....Fellowshipper still working on his book "The Dillema of Foreign Women"?...Nika,good you found a nice home for your cat....I ended up giving all of my kittens to a guy that had a pet boa constrictor...
  11. It was the phrase "set at naught" by Herod's men of war that VPW used to teach that Jesus was sodomized....
  12. Yes,I have sinned, and am no more worthy to be called 9th corpse...I have spent mine portion of thy living on brawling women in wide houses and riotous living...Having spent all,I joined myself unto the master of the house, who sent me into his field to feed swine...I would fain have filled my belly with the husks that the swine did eat,but no man gave unto me,no,not for an hour...Make me as one of thy hired servants,or apprentice corpse, lest I perish(Robert) with hunger... Excie, tell them the real reason you dropped your cell phone down the toilet...First you dropped a quarter down there, then decided it wasn't worth sticking your hand down in there just for a quarter... Speaking of toilets,I read this on a bathroom wall in a bar when I was taking a pistis: Somebody wrote:I f**ked your mother. Underneath, somebody else wrote:Dad,go home..you're drunk...
  13. I have to share your sentiments,mStar....While the game itself hasn't changed a whole lot in our lifetime, the overall approach to it by MLB certainly has....It's no longer our national pastime,it's a 'product'....Fans are chided for being 'fair weather',but it's perfectly acceptable for players to jump ship for more money....Teams and owners expect a fan base, but don't deliver us a player base that we can attach our loyalties to...Baseball keeps getting more and more de-personalized...What happened to the Crosley Fields, the Comiskey Parks, the Connie Mack Stadiums?...I followed the White Sox throughout the World Series, and if I was on 'Jeopardy' right now,I couldn't name their ballpark.... Baseball has played into the American psyche,...we want to win and we want to win NOW!....Forget the developing of young players and building of a team..Owners srew over players, players screw over teams...and the fans keep showing up....I don't get it...Merry Christmas to you all and how many days until pichers and catchers report to camp?..
  14. Just give her some of those 'Bank of Heaven' checks and let her believing take her as far and as fast as she wants to go....Like the washer woman said,"God's bank ain't busted yet!"... Or a fishing pole so she can cast her cares upon Christ,....or,for that matter, her own sins as far as the east is from the west... Or a '67 Rambler to remind her that she's an "Ambassador for Christ".... Enjoy a couple of ham on rye's at the beach and marvel at the 'sandwiches by the seashore'.... A veg-o-matic A pair of holy spirit earrings... Or a Corvette t-shirt... ******* Merry Christmas, all you wonderful peoples....Peace and safety,...joy and rejoicing,....Og and eggnog....
  15. Well, dear Nika, since you asked,I will tell you about 'The King and I'....His visit to Phoenix was all too brief, and we only had time for a noon day lunch...We had a delicious meal of borscht with a dollop of sour cream, soaked lentils, bulgar wheat salad and savory millet with a generous covering of fig pap...As it is written, "better is a dinner of herbs where love is,than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.".... It seems Dana was misdiagnosed by,as he puts it,"one of those company quack doctors" who reported that his heart was 'slightly out of position' and that he had an 'irregular heartbeat'..,not taking into account Dana's rather large frame, and he was grounded for a while...But after some persistence and coaxing,(there's something very subtlly pursuasive about Dana) he's back behind the wheel, puttin' the hammer down, ridin' pedal to the metal and the Lord ridin' shotgun... As to whether we will visit our brethen, again,in Florida,Tuttle,I'm afraid we called upon four virgin daughters, who bound our own hands and feet together and said to us through the holy ghost "doo the will of the Lord,c'mon do the will of the Lord, you know what the will of the Lord is"...And when we would not pursuaded,weceasedsayingthewillofthelordbedone... As to the rest of you'ns,I cut my teeth on Schlitz beer, the one with gusto, and Chesterfield's,Tom... That was nice of excie to impart birthday greetings to our own marked and avoided brother...I wonder if the corpse household newsletter lists the birthdays of the DFAC's at the bottom.... What's up w/ fellashipper?...Bless him and his tribe....
  16. So Rocky is a 'banned member'?...I wonder what instrument he plays....At least they're not censoring his name...
  17. Wow,...Rocky's been unbanned?....When did all this happen?...Happy birthday,Rock...Gosh,a guy goes to a Jain Convention to pray for their arms and set up a call-center and look what happens while I'm gone... Well,as the Yashladi Yashli Tulsi would say, "Meestda Rdocky,we would like to offedr you cdedit cadrd pdotection against identity teft for smoll munt-ly payment...but we do not believe in youdr Jesus"... If things work out ok tomorrow,I'll be able to visit with the King(Dana, not Elvis),when he stops in Phoenix,as he trucks along in his convoy, behind eleven of them long-haired friends of Jesus in a chartreuse micro-bus...
  18. Now,how in the hell would I know the answer to that?.....
  19. Boy,you're right ...that was a life-sucking moment...Houston fans must be in a trance about now....Somehow,though,I think the 'stros still might pull it off.... Baseball loyalties are wierd and just hard to explain...Cubs used to play all their games in the day time, which meant that if you were watching them, you were probably skipping school,..or work,..or something else you really should have been doing...What happened on the field was almost secondary to the fact that you could relax and enjoy a baseball game...I used to love getting off the schoolbus about 3:00,flipping on the tv,and hearing Jack Brickhouse say "ok,time for the 7th inning stretch, and c'mon,Cubs, just a little ol' ten run rally and we're right back in this thing".... Personally,I hate the Cards and the Astros more than almost anybody as far as rivalries go...But since the Cubs and Sox have both been quite the losers throughout the centuries,a certain amount of satisfaction is derived from each of the fans to see their cross-town rivals wallow in their own miseries....But I think a Sox championship would be good for the city of Chicago...Their baseball fans have suffered long enough and I think it's time to shake the ghosts of 1919...
  20. Hi,everybody...Lots of work and baseball watching going on here...Where in the hell is Tuttle?...Haven't heard from him since he went out to get a pack of cigarettes a few months ago....
  21. Well, tonight's game was a good game if you were a Sox fan,a bad game if you were an Angel's fan,...and an otherwise boring game if you were a casual baseball fan...I don't know if the Sox pitching is that good or if the Angels were just punchless... Kudos to Sox pitchers for throwing two straight complete games....but I'd be a little concerned about letting my bullpen get too rusty, especially when you have a closer who was in AA ball just a couple of months ago...Each game is a little bigger and you don't want your relievers too jittery when they're called in... My advise to Soscia would be to give one of those Wierwillian type speeches about "these are the times that try men's souls"....Angels looked like they went down w/o a fight(last ten batters retired in order)and other than a good feisty at-bat by Steve Finley, looked almost content to just put the ball in play...Angels relievers did a great job of keeping the Sox from breaking it open.... So far the Angels seem to be reeling from that dropped strike call, and I don't think they've totally put it behind them...yet...
  22. Hey,thanks for the pics,Tom and Mstar....I'll take it under advisement....I'll have my people get in touch with your people.... I find myself thumbing through old baseball stuff in between playoff games(sometimes in between innings),and came across this tidbit about Ty Cobb.... "History reverently chronicles the baseball deeds of Ty Cobb and remembers him affectionately as the "Georgia Peach." But to his contemporaries, the former Detroit star was anything but peachy. He was a raging wildcat and the master of cut-throat baseball,a mean, nasty, intimidating, antagonistic and devilish practitioner of his chosen profession..." I like that word "devilish".... ****** A fine performance by Oswalt(Roy,...not Lee Harvey) last night,I guess showing once again that good pitching stops good hitting... Another tidbit: The only time the now-defunct St Louis Browns, who got sucked into Baseball's Bermuda Triangle, never to be heard from again, made it to the Series was in 1944,when Major League Baseball was depleted of most of it's stars during WW II...Of course, they lost the Series that year to the St. Louis Cardinals,4-2....
  23. I thought I'd throw this little tidbit out here because the controversial call reminded me of it.... Arte Moreno's son and mine played on the same team for a while, and during fall ball, they would just have a couple of the dad's ump instead of hiring regular umps....In a game that I was calling strikes and he was umping first base, the batter hit a squibbler that started out foul and he yelled "foul!"...The ball continued rolling, eventually touching first base, meaning it should have been ruled fair, but he already stopped the runner by signalling foul....I thought Arte handled it well,he explained to the coaches that he mistakenly jumped the gun and stopped the play by yelling "foul",therefore the ruling will stand as a foul ball....'Course,these were 12 year old kids and the stakes were a little lower... All right,no charge for the story and that's about all I got to say about this strike three call....
  24. Lifted up ought to drop by and put in his two cents...he's a man in blue... I'm sure Molina would back up his backup catcher, but I'll bet you if he's behind the plate,he tags out Pierzinski and there is no controversy...How could the catcher know what the ump signalled with his back to him?... I like Pineilla's insight, but he really doesn't have an announcer's voice.... Shoot, now that the series is tied,I wish I had my baseball avatar back...
  25. Well, the game actually ended on a two-out double on an 0-2 pitch off of Escobar....Soscia and the Angels I believe are too professional to blame the loss on a blown ump's call...Fortunately,it's early enough in the series to see what these teams are made of...If nothing else, the Sox were opportunistic,today...Capitalizing on the throwing error by Washburn(an obvious case of the yips),and capitalizing on the controversial call on strike three...I only saw the first inning, but I liked the tone Ozzie set by bunting the runner to third, then him scoring...When you're playing well, you can't be too proud to take advantage of a freebie....Sox did it twice and the series is knotted 1-1 instead of 2-0,Angels...I'm ok with it...
