  1. Leaves fall off tress--seasons

Plants were created to be food--Plants ore living organisms but they are not animals--they lack brains--they lack the ability to think--they cannot choose what to do--they are in no way on the same level as humans/ animals

What makes you think that there were seasons in the Garden??

  2. The point Paw dear,

is that on dial up down loading --takes from 10 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the clip. That is an awfully long time to spend waiting. I realize that people with high speed connections have every right to enjoy the benefits thereof.

My complaint was not so much directed toward say the GS radio thread, as toward posters who post links in the middle of threads that require this much effort to view. It is difficult to respond to a post when you don't have the time to invest in waiting for a link to load. If you are on a public computer you don't even have the option of downloading.

I'm not asking for these kind of links to be stopped, banned or in any way restricted--I am just pointing out that if you want timely discussions on a thread this might not be the best way to go

  3. God bless you and make you abound in all things,

I love you. Let me say that again. I love you.

Agape love is a wonderful thing. I can truly say that, even though I don't "know" you that I "agape" you since you are my brother or sister, a child of Heavenly Father. That isn't to say I will always agree with or like what you say--but I welcome you here.

What are you doing here? This place is not good. And I don't think you need me to tell you that. What are you doing here?

I am here beause I first started posting on the old Waydale. It was there that I finally faced and came to grips with all the pain I suffered during my involvement with TWI. Pain that was emotional, physical and spiritual.

There is a vast difference in any biblical truths that were imparted in TWI and the actual behaviors of certain leadership and followers in their ability, or lack thereof, in following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. It is this dicotomy that I come here to address, to help others come to a place where the pain they may have experienced is lessened. In doing so I have made friends that I can enjoy "talking" to on a variety of subjects, have reconnected with old friends, and met others face -to-face.

Expanding one's understanding of ANY subject, expanding your circle of friends, learning to respectfully disagree with varying viewpoints, learning to critically examine an issue from all points of view are valuable life skills.

These are reasons I come here.

If your belief that this is not a good place to be comes from a belief, on your part, that any site which challenges the teachings of TWI etal HAS TO bad-- I would challenge you to take the time to read and see the other side of the picture-- Truth can ALWAYS face and stand up to contrary viewpoints it is fallacy which crumbles in the face of challenge.

There are better things for you to do than come to this place. Followers of Jesus Christ, be loving and tender, and walk in the ways of Jesus Christ. This place is not your home, and there are better things for you to do.

There is NEVER anything better to do than telling the truth.

Jesus Christ was not always loving and tender in the physical realm. There is a vast vast difference between having agape love toward all children of Heavenly Father in the spritual realm and being loving and tender in the physical realm towards the sins of the world.

Driving the money changers from the temple with a whip was not perceived by the people that whip hit, as their monies fell to the ground under overturned tables, as being either loving or tender.

The sermons and parables that Christ taught were not percieved as loving and tender by those whose sins were exposed in the telling.

THe disciples did not perceive lovng tenderness when Christ rebuked them. Look at Peter after the cock crowed--loving tenderness was not the emotion he felt then or when he was first told it would happen.

Heavenly Father does not expect us to gloss over the truth or avoid facing sin by claiming it is negative to do so. He expects us to stand tall and boldly state the truth--no matter who is offended no matter where the chips land.

As for this not being my home--Nowhere on earth is my HOME. This is merely the testing ground I must tread before going HOME to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. While I sojourn on this earth, in anticipation of that day, there are far far worse places I could spend a part of my time than here.

  4. I see no reason why you should apologize for what you believe.

I don't recall ever reading the Bible stating this. We (those who have been saved) likewise have eternal life and yet our bodies will eventually die.

Other than in Genesis the tree of life is mentioned three times in Revelation --

2:7 "To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

22:2 "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."

22:14 "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life"

There may be others but, I can't remember them if there are. Verse 2 of 22 especially attracts my attention because it specifically gives some details of the benefit of eating from that tree -- that being -- "for the healing of the nations." Now, there may be other meanings of this phrase -- other than physical healing -- but I'm pretty certain this is the same tree that God told Adam he may freely eat from. While in Revelation it speaks of it's benefit to "nations" (plural) I don't see how Adam would not have received the same benefit. And if so that brings up a question in my mind of: Why would Adam need healing? The tree wasn't planted just for the benefit of a future generation.

Furthermore, as I understand it, God designed the body to heal itself. Adam had the same type of body we do and from what I know it's perfectly natural for the body to die daily unless some sort of intervention takes place -- like medicine. I think that's what the tree of life represents -- intervention in the natural course of things.

Additionally you have the verses in Genesis 3:22 and 24 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever . . . and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life." Seems to me that it was the "tree of life" that made it possible for man to live (physically) forever. That's why God had to a guard around the tree -- to prevent that.

Well, I understand this but, it does present a problem if you consider a new-born child dying. What sins did a new-born child commit that caused death?

A newborn child dies not because of sin, but because death came into the world because of Adam's sin. Therefore, a newborn baby that has anything medically wrong, that can't breath properly, whose heart is not functioning properly etc. will die. The baby will die because man no longer has the eternal life that Adam and Eve were granted in the Garden before they sinned.

  5. THey all work in the sense of being able to get to the site, The problem is that unless you have a high speed internet connection Video is a stilll followed by a 1 minute pause followed by another still-followed by a 1 minute pause........

Audio is 1-3 words followed by a pause and 1-3 words followwed by a pause--

this makes it impossible to listen to or watch.

  6. I want to point out to the many posters at GSC that not all of us have high speed internet, not all of us have computers with the latest video cards etc. For those of you on the cutting edge of technology, for those of you who can afford the extras, I say more power to you.

But please, when you are posting links--keep in mind that videos, pod casts, audio clips etc ARE NOT available to many GSCer's. It just seems to me that if you are going to take the time to post you would want to post links that are accessble to all rather than a select few.

  7. One reason that you don;t find Paul discussed on the "Jewish" web sites is explained in the book I mentioned earlier. The author takes the passage where Paul is explaining his lineage and background to the crowd assembled and, line by line, explains why, in his opinion, Paul cannot be who he claims to be in the Bible.

He simply does not accept Paul as being "Jewish". I have a feeling that he is not alone in his perceptions in the Jewish community.

  8. Mine came form my mother--TWI tried to make me more willing "to please" but by that stage between, parents, family, hubby one and hubby two -- I was in full rebellion. Not so rebellious now but don't take on more than I can chew either--- I like making people happy --but never again at the expense of my own health and sanity.

  9. Badmouthing the ex and/or the girlfriend will do you no good. Your daughter has to come to her own conclusions without feeling pressure from you.

You have the responsibility to limit or prevent face to face contact with an abusive ex spouse. But how much contact, whether, e-mail, phone, IM, or snail-mail your daughter has with her daddy is her call.

He will out himself soon enough--and she will feel relieved if she doesn't feel that her decision will in anyway affect how you will react. He, I am sure, is doing enough of that tightrope pulling without you picking up the other end.

  10. I was just posting over on the Fellowlaborers thread, and I think at least the one I was in fit into that category also in some ways.

We didn't choose our roommates, our work detail, our leisure activities, anything. We were never alone, we were always watched and reported on and supposed about. We were all supposed to be crammed into that little mold and like it.

My three months in FWC were even worse, because it extended to the children. God forbid you step out of line, start walking with the wrong foot, touch a wall.

    WG

Some of this could be applied to the MTC for LDS missionaries, Catholic Seminary for priests, and other religious groups training for thieir ministers, pastors, rabbis, imans etc.

The idea is to take those who wish to spread the gospel through missionary and pastorial duties and have them immerse themselves in the scriptures of their religion. To have them learn to be able to live and work with a variety of individuals in a variety of situations. This involves life skills which demand, cooperation, listening, understanding and compromise.

TWI's downfall was, IMO, that they left no room for personality of the individual. In an effort to squash any personal characteristics that they perceived as "contrary to the word" by the application of strict authoritarian rule--they all too often squashed the personal characteristics of the individual which would have enabled them to grow and mature spritually in their individaul walk. No individual walk or allowance for the fact that "individual walk" means individual timeline and understanding means, eventually, personal spritual growth stops.

  11. The biggest thing I learned in PFAL was that Jesus Christs atonement covered ALL my sins not just the ones I could remember. that was a tremendous load lifted from my shoulders. {Still remember VPW making all those X's on the board}

And yes I still believe that and have had it affirmed many times since.

  12. ***THe SDFODAT has graciously invited the Scorpion king to spend the evening in his palacial motor tent drwan by 16 camels which the Scorpion King has accepted. Enter fourteen small brown sand scorpions who proceed to laboriously peel away the putty and spirit gum facade of "The Rock" revealing none other than...........Lawrence Caravan Muftacorps!!!!***

Okay, my faithful ones, clearly the SDFODAT, my diety in the "word of the desert" is losing his touch. He is totally unaware that instead of James BOND it is James BIRD--not to be confused with his cousin James BEARD of gastric renown!

But, oh furture SDFODAT, what can we your faithful followers do to help you??

First VPW, must never suspect that I, LCM, am anything but appreciative for his leadership and guidance. He must never know that the Scorpion King is my alter ego. As long as he believes that I am merely an adherent, instead of a leader who is worthy of greater stature and adulation than he has ever claimed, my plans to take over his "ministry" can go forward unimpeded.

That will be easy, Camel Gearshift and VPW are too impressed with what they have achieved to ever imagine that you as LCM would ever be able to outsmart them!!!

**unseen behind the curtains of the motortent, LCM's consort Duneha listens and smiles--little does LCM , VPW, the BORG, or CG suspect that her plans, already being laid, will thrive and survive long beyond any of theirs....********

  13. Legalize it, regulate production, and prices, and age limits that can purchase it. Ditto all other recreational drugs, gambling and prostitution.

It is not the job of government to regulate morality or one groups idea of morality--it is the job of government to protect its citizens.

Better drugs that are quality controlled in their making, better prostitutes that are having regular medical screening with lists of clients if something shows up, better legalized gambling instead of after-hours houses where drugs and prostitutes also operate freely.

  14. There is a book called "The Mythmaker" the author is a Jewish rabbi. Can't tell you more than that because I am "here" and the book is home.

It discusses Paul from a Jewish perspective and why Paul, as represented in the epistles, does not "measure up".

    It is very thought provoking.

The other thing to remember about Paul is all we have is the book of Acts, which most scholars regard as the work of several authors that have been combined, and the epistles. Not all of Pauls epistles, no third party accounts like we find with Christ in the gospels, just a few letters.

Judging the totality of Paul, just on this sketchy information, is very difficult. Most letters that are written are written to specific people addressing specific points that are pertainent [sic] to those people. So it is with the letters of Paul. Specific churches, specific problems, specific admonisions.

If I write a letter to my sister in Montana discussing problems on her ranch much of what I write will not be applicable to my cousin who lives in Washington whose boyfriend is out of work due to back problems.

The epistles are for our learning, the epistles outline some solutions to some problems. I have never believed that the specific instances were to be thought of as a blanket dictum for all generations in all situations to come (ie. women should not speak in church). What is for all generations is the attitude and heart we are to have toward Jesus Christ, His atoning work , The Holy Ghost, prayer etc.

  15. THe music was great--there were some great belivers, some great Corps with hearts that brimmed full of love and true Christ like intentions. These people , most of whom I haven't seen in 20 years I still treasure the memories of.

THe reign of LCM after the FOG years still I find much of ittto be incomprehensible.

I think of the women in my church and the men, who of a Sunday morn will stand before us in sacrament meetingand pour out their hearts with song and instruments. Many a hand has brought handkerchief to the eyes of both male and female in the listening congregation.

Music --the hymns, anthems, and gospel songs, engages the full brain , both right and left sides. Music has converted the hearts of many where words have failed. Music has brought solace and comfort to many a grieving heart.

To hinder or cause this most powerful of mediums to bed less than it should--does a disservice not only to the performers but too the audience.

Was LCM so insecure that any indication that another believer possessed talents he lacked had to be squashed???? I cannot imagine where my life would be if it were not for those friends and aqauintances who possess musical and other talents I lack. The eye of the body, the hand of the body, the foot of the body all working together as one.

  16. I am am willing to stand before God having told my experiences in the Way of Alaska and the sexually depraved atmosphere that was condoned and supported by leadership, whether overtly, or by refusing to take action against the offenders.
