  1. Awe how sweet! Thank you anon GSer!
  2. LOL I was referring that the Dell would be like a deck of cards as well. :D Bluze caught on. ;) I am really glad you just took it back to them. I had a Trash80 as well!! Then a Tandy HX 1000 (8088 oooh attached keyboard! LOVE the TGA! HAHA) Though I orginally was speaking of my C64 with the tape drive, that after I bought the hard drive when they came out I tried putting GEOS 1.0 on it and blew the hard drive LOL. Started over and went with basic all over again. Of course you love the logic of the OS, especially now. Its based off of Unix! Why not just take a install friendly Linux download for your pc and install Linux? It is more user friendly than it ever has and is not like the orignal 5.2. Doing some command line things mike make you feel nastalgic.
  3. Yup, I wouldn't buy it either. Adobe's version has really no other tools that the others do not. Yet it is extreamly bloated and get this the Standard (the ones with the LEAST tools..) is $299.99! If you upgrade at some point that is $99.00. Guess thier software is as bloated as thier prices. It is a matter of preference but both of those apps they suggested are fine. My preference is CutePDF,thought it has more addons I use.
  4. Awee, sorry your having such an issue with the non"Geek Squad" . Maybe you can send em over here and we can teach em a few things. Right Bluze? I am glad you took it back, cause really they should know better.Besides your paying them a pretty penny to do thier job.
  5. Yeah he would but then he would also have to center them or place them in the thread how they appeared. You are very right, for alot of clients it sure seems that way. Though I refrain from doing the flat fee for a whole design and that helps alot. Plus I don't need to pay for insurance.. and I get to stay at home. I also make sure they understand that I do only regular office hours unless the servers crashed or the T. Which then I would be working on it anyway. Hooray another security buff! Did you venture over to Tom Strange's post yet? I would be intrested in your thoughts on the article. and thank you, I suppose lurking for 5 years was long enough :)
  6. Very cute rick :P , my first computer had a tape drive... I guess young whippersnapper is a realtive term . ^_^ Its ok I will take it.
  7. Shall us northerners call you to drive up for some real snow? Hey I have a big hill roller blades a bike or my baby's radio flyer that he wont use for years.. I am sure I can borrow a skate board from the neighbor boy. ;) btw this is 17 inches, December 1st 2006. So sad our only other snow was 1 inch this week.
  8. great! You think after lurking since 02 it was about time to post. I wanted you to know though I don't see you as much that we were still praying for you.
  9. I would go the software ripping route then. They showed the ice on the trees and said that all of StC was out of power. 2 more days to go until we can be free of the Boil Order.
  10. Did you down load the new VM? This is what the help says and it sounds like the issue your having.. > Live Chat Help If you are running a version of a Microsoft Windows™ and see only a broken link icon, you will need to download a copy of the Java™ Virtual Machine in order to run our application. You may download Java™ Support for your browser from one of the following links below: Microsoft Virtual Machine (for MSIE)
  11. Unfortunatly it is quite common, like cars they are not built like they used to. HPs and Compaq's for years were power horses. I would even venture to say that they are close to the thought on Laptops as throwaways. However, the upside to towers is that you can just replace parts that either die, get out dated or start having conflict problems because of the other hardware that is newer. To give you an idea, at home here we have enough parts that normally we can swap out until that part dies or build a temporary computer that will last till we can afford the parts to buy newer parts and the only thing that seems that we don't replace is the case itself. Lets pray for credit so you can start anew. Is this tech offering to "build" the new PC ?(If so find out what gear he plans to put in and get all the specifics to make sure he isn't building you a house made out of cards. )or for you to get like a packaged Dell?
  12. Ahh... so it sounds like a board thing. Ohhh Greasy Tech..." Paging Dr Fine, Dr Greasy Tech, Dr Fine.. " Oh my I think Tommy's humor is rubbing off on me. I am a website designer where I host all my clients on my own. Plus on the side I also work for clients as a Network/Security Admin.
  13. Watch out for rocks too. Of course I wouldn't do anything illigal.. though it wasn't when I was younger. My sister and I used to also do it with our bike and a radio flyer down a big hill. Its amazing we never broke anything.
  14. 1. Click on the body of the email, 2. then right click. 3. Highlight Select all. 4.Right click again 5. select "View Source" 6.Copy the whole code by pressing Cntrl A (so cntrl then A, but still holding down the control). 7. Right click again select "Copy" 8.Then come to your GS window you have open type in [html..] (take out the two ..) 9. Paste in your code (which would look like this <a href="test/page.html">A Test Page</a> ) 10. Close your tag by typing[/html]
  15. I agree, especially when it came to the Rootkits. Mark did a very good job of really trying to let Sony know and was very ethical about it. Though he also has a website and webpresence integrity to maintain. John and David could of done a better job on the ethical standpoint but the article did make good points. The hackers I do not like are the ones that try to use thier exploits to gain a job."Hey I hacked into your website/network" hire me to protect it. Crackers are just cowards to me.
