John Adams letter to Abigail -- July 3, 1776 (excerpt):

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. -- I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. -- Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will triumph in that Days Transaction, even although We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not."

I'm hoping that when Ken Burns' (not the one who was in the 9th Way Corps) latest project, a 12-hour (magnum) opus on the American Revolution, airs in November 2025, there will be a worldwide renewed reverence for what Burns declares has been the most important event in world history since Jesus Christ.

Not exaggerating a bit, then.

Rocky, I went to watch the video you posted but am getting the message to sign in to confirm I'm not a BOT (below), that I have gotten repeatedly before while signed in.

Hopefully Raf can fix... thanks..

If you go to YouTube to view the video, that might help. By any chance do you use a private virtual network? The issue may be related to that... if so it might be CBS news doesn't like that.

I viewed it on YT with no problem.
